I am so excited!

DH takes over all catering for this fortnight (he does it at other times too) so I can plump my cushions, grab the handchange & get watching.

I'd like to be saying who I was putting my money on to win - but I really can't decide between Rafa, Federer Djokovitch & Murray.

I'd just say that it will be one of them and, sadly, I'd put Andy in last place.

Two weeks of tennis coming up!!

Bring it on. Wine (pimms) & Grin

Wondered if that might be the case. Azarenka's fall was nasty but other than that you always get players slipping and sliding all over the place during the first few days of Wimbledon.

SauvignonBlanche · 26/06/2013 18:18

Yes! Go Andy!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/06/2013 18:19

If the surface is so bad then surely both players would be affected?

You used to see players slip all the time as they went in to volley, because that was the worn part of the court. These days the baselines get very worn because everyone stays there.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/06/2013 18:21

Tomorrow's forecast -

Looking nice until the evening then I think that there's a good possibility that rain will stop play. At the moment, I reckon it will probably hit at about 6pm give or take an hour. Will update tomorrow am.

Friday -rain right through the afternoon and early evening looks fairly likely, but it might not be as dire as it looks at the moment.

Saturday- after perhaps a damp start a fine day :)

Sunday - another fine day. Perhaps reaching 25c if the cloud breaks for long enough.

GameSetAndMatch · 26/06/2013 18:21

exactly, ALI, both players would be slipping, it only seems to be the top players that are getting injured Hmm

and the men arent complaining as much as the divas girls.

those courts have been there over 100 years and NOW the players are going to complain????

GameSetAndMatch · 26/06/2013 18:23

ohyoubad are you Wincy Willis or Michael (Mardy) Fish?! -showing my age! Tennis

IreneR · 26/06/2013 18:24

Dang but there's some bad mojo out there today. I wish RF would pull it together soon. Seems like the more time spent on court today just increases your chances of getting a knee injury...!

ClayDavis · 26/06/2013 18:25

They groundsmen spend all year preparing the surface. As soon as the tournament is over they will start preparing it for next year. Unless they've done something very different this year I reckon it's unlikely to be anything to do with the surface.

GameSetAndMatch · 26/06/2013 18:27

Ha. Boris Beckers just repeated what I said, the courts have been there a long time so why complain now!

Did you see him earlier though having quite a heated discusion with a tennis Tennis analysist? Lindsay Dav stayed out of it!

Mama1980 · 26/06/2013 18:27

They are falling like flies, this is crazy! I don't know maybe its just fluke. Hewitt said the grass is no different.

GameSetAndMatch · 26/06/2013 18:28

was there a lot of slipping/sliding etc at Queens and Eastbourne then? I didnt see any.

Northernlurker · 26/06/2013 18:33

There are always some players carrying injuries. I think that's there's a bit of grass court hysteria going on and some of the players who would maybe have carried on have withdrawn today because somebody else had already done so and so they can blame the courts and not their own condition etc. These people have sponsors - it looks better to retire hurt because of the court than retire hurt because you are in fact falling apart or indeed got beat by somebody younger and fitter. I would be quite a lot on that being the reason for Sharapova's remark 'I lost because the court's were dangerous' is a better story for her than 'I got beaten by a qualifier, oops Serena will LOVE that'

AnyFucker · 26/06/2013 18:36

Sharapova has always been a bit on the whiny side, IIRC

JaquelineHyde · 26/06/2013 18:38

A bad workman always blames his tools.

Nuff said!

AnyFucker · 26/06/2013 18:38

Although I was very much Team Shazza wrt Serena's ridiculous rape apology statement. But that's another topic -x-

GameSetAndMatch · 26/06/2013 18:39

Shrieka and Gulbis. rotten lot. cant give their opponents any credit at all. Gulbis won cos Tsonga was injured but nooooo, he won cos he played well.

remmebr Ferrer at the Aussie open when Nadal got injured? Ferrer took NO credit for his win and fully aknowledged he was through to next round cos Nadal was injured.

now THATS sportsmanship.

WTF does grigor like about Shrikas/ shes an absolute diva.

IreneR · 26/06/2013 18:43

It's mojo -- not grass.

GameSetAndMatch · 26/06/2013 18:48

Had to change a bit for gamejr for a break. got cbbc on. Chris and Hacker T dog are a t Wimbledon! Saw Hacker this morning talking to seeu Barker, as he calls her.!

All plays been a bit lame today, literally Tennis !!!!

except the Hewitt/Brown match. that was brilliant.

Raahh · 26/06/2013 18:49

Oh wow- Stakhovsky is giving Federer some trouble.

ClayDavis · 26/06/2013 18:50

Can't lose another seed today. Wasn't expecting this game to be this close.

Raahh · 26/06/2013 18:53

Don't think Roger did either!

AnyFucker · 26/06/2013 18:55

great match the Fed one

Northernlurker · 26/06/2013 18:58

Roger doesn't look very happy. Is Stakhovsky a qualifier too? One thing about that route is that they are 'played in' by the time the tournament starts whereas the big names who've been deep in the French Open etc aren't as warmed up for it and can get ambushed. What happened to Roger at Halle this year?

Startail · 26/06/2013 19:05

Come on Federer we need someone left in who's worth watching

AnyFucker · 26/06/2013 19:09

Erm, hellooooo < cough > Murray < cough > Smile
