I am so excited!

DH takes over all catering for this fortnight (he does it at other times too) so I can plump my cushions, grab the handchange & get watching.

I'd like to be saying who I was putting my money on to win - but I really can't decide between Rafa, Federer Djokovitch & Murray.

I'd just say that it will be one of them and, sadly, I'd put Andy in last place.

Two weeks of tennis coming up!!

Bring it on. Wine (pimms) & Grin

Excellent.

GlaikitFizzog · 24/06/2013 21:02

Just going to watch the Murray documentary.......

Chubfuddler · 24/06/2013 21:06

Ooh good idea. I watched some of it last night but was so tired I turned it off.

MrsVamosRAFA · 24/06/2013 21:16

Oh wow ! We have Tennis !

Thanks very much, MNHQ. Smile

Gutted for Rafa, of course. Have to say, Steve played really well, and was so lovely afterwards, saying that he felt he played well, but knew that if Rafa was fit he wouldn't have beat him...a very nice guy, I thought.

Must admit I'm very concerned for Rafa, cos I think that's the US Open out, and possibly the rest of the year, depending on what's going on. He quite clearly from his press conference didn't want to talk about the knee, love that he was his usual gracious self and won't 'blame' anything other than his opponent played better tennis which is why he lost.

I have that niggly feeling that maybe it's the beginning of the end, maybe we will start hearing talk of retirement....if his knee/s is/are that bad, I don't see how he can continue playing at top level, unless he does what he has done this year and plays to win RG ?

Sad to think that maybe his body is starting to say 'enough', and may hasten his end. Sad

Brilliant match from Hewitt, he played some great tennis ! It would be nice to see him do well.

I had a feeling that there would be an upset today, and after the 2nd set with Rafa I knew it would be him going. Just didn't look like the same guy who won RG...

Wonder if there will be an upset tomorrow ? Novak isn't fully fit, I wonder if perhaps this year we will have a winner from out of the top 5 ?

Roll on tomorrow.

Raahh

Have also changed nn to just plain ol' MrsV.

I'm Sad.

It's horrible isn't it ? Watching tennis isn't quite the same.

Imagine how strange it will be watching with no Roger, no Rafa...awwww....

We have been very spoilt, and need a couple of new young guns to fire up !

Raahh · 24/06/2013 21:31

Yep- though I want Ferrer to do well, and he's no spring chickenGrin

When's Dimitrov playing?

I feel bereft Sad
and I know there are more important things happening in the world
I really hope it's not the end for Rafa.

Chubfuddler · 24/06/2013 21:46

Federer is still in isnt he?

Raahh · 24/06/2013 21:48

Yep, Federer trounced Hanescu is about an hourGrin slight exaggeration, but not much

MrsVamos · 24/06/2013 21:49

I'd like to see Ferrer do well too, if I was him, I'd be a bit miffed that no-one rates me as a potential finalist !

Dimitrov must be tomorrow sometime, haven't checked the schedule yet, sorry...

Yep, Chub Fed's still there, but I was just pondering the future....

DevlinMaccabee · 24/06/2013 21:50

Omg just watched Azarenka fall in her match and my windows shattered!

Was very sad about Rafa, but still want Murray or Tsonga to win.

Raahh · 24/06/2013 21:50

I think MrsV means when Fed hangs up his racket for good, Chub

I need to sleep. I am emotionally drained

MrsVamos · 24/06/2013 21:56

I did indeed mean that Raahh. Wink

We need some exciting matches tomorrow !

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 24/06/2013 22:02

What an amazing first day!

I've just managed to get upstairs to get on line - been glued for the last 10 hours or so.

Had a big lump in my throat when Rafa lost & I do wonder if that is the last match I'll se him play. How much longer can he put that strain on his knees?

Thrilled to see Hewitt win.

Federer just put on an exhibition of the most stylish tennis I think I've ever seen.

Roll on tomorrow! Tennis

amigababy · 24/06/2013 22:24

in the absence of Rafa I'd like to see
Roger
then Novak
then Andy.

but I'm also feeling sad it could be the beginning of the end of an era. It's not just the quality of the play, it's the characters too and what they represent for tennis.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 24/06/2013 22:27

Signing in, but haven't managed to catch any apart from some highlights of the Nadal shockeroonie. I also think his body might be starting to pack up. Sad

What a day!

(Hello MrsVamos!)
