Watched it again with DH last night, and after talking to him and a bit of texting between me and my best friend and me and my mum we have confidently come up with some theories (all of which, I am sure, will be proved absolute rubbish in the coming weeks
)
-The dam must be significant. No idea how although maybe it holds some kind of space/time anomili.
-The twins haven't swapped. We think that is a red herring.
-Victor isn't one of the returned, he is something else. We think he is maybe the incarnation of "hope" or "love" or "hate" or something.... this isn't a well thought out theory, but something about him makes me think he is different. Also Julie seems sad and lonely and I think it's significant that he has latched on to her.
-Alternatively perhaps people see Victor when something bad is about to happen? Maybe he's like the angel of death.
-Perhaps Lena became pregnant during the sex? Don't know how that fits in yet but it would be a "bad" thing that perhaps Victor is foreshadowing when Camille sees him.
-Perhaps Simon was killed by Adele and that is why she is reacting so badly to seeing him? Or something else happened that implicates Adele in his death?
-Mr. Costa is the one who's made all this happen somehow, dabbling in the occult or something. And when he realises the magnitude of his actions he obviously feels so bad that he kills himself. Perhaps he killed his wife? And trying to ressurect her was him trying to atone for that, but when actually face to face with her he couldn't cope with the magnitude of what he had done?
-Lucy is one of The Returned and maybe a Medium/Spirit Guide or maybe she just has a connection to the dead because she is dead herself.
-The murderer is also one of The Returned.
-Maybe the murderer is killing all of The Returned?
-Pierre has somehow tried to make this happen too- maybe through prayer and some crazy form of Christianity. Maybe he thinks these are the End Times and that ties in somehow?
Oh, I am so excited for Sunday night!!!
I'm going to crack out the Boursin and the Gauloises every Sunday for the next 7 weeks.
