So excited. We're we starting to see cracks in the marriage last season? I hope we see more of Betty this time.

Bless him and that chip and dip. It was very funny.

Peggy is far more endearing than I remember.

Pete and Peggy's acting is brilliant.

I am bereft and waiting for the DVD of series 5 to turn up.

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2013 20:27

I know, I know, but I was stuck indoors waiting for a parcel to be delivered and I had nothing else to watch Grin. I think there are 13 episodes.

IdaBlankenship · 11/06/2013 21:08

Pete & Peggy have great chemistry - its a shame they share so little screen time together nowadays. Same with Don & Peggy, I always enjoy scenes with them together.

SquidgyMummy · 11/06/2013 22:31

I think Don & Joan's scenes are the best; but quite rare.

They are the male and female (alpha) equivalents of each other.
Both very composed and professional on the surface, but a lot going on underneath.

I liked it when they went out for a drink around the time of Sterling Cooper pitching for Jaguar (last series).

IdaBlankenship · 12/06/2013 08:27

Yes, there was some sexual tension there also. Joan is too good for Don though!

LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 08:35

don and Joan were very sweet when they giggled in the hospital after the bloke had his foot lawnmowered off. And again where they held hands (and with Roger) under the table at the awards ceremony. Don always seems to be his nicest around Joan, as he was with Anna.

I have ordered a book from Amazon about the Philiosophy of Mad Men. I a, obsessed.

IdaBlankenship · 12/06/2013 14:05

So Sorrel, about tonight's episode. On a scale of good Mad Men episodes - is a single glass of wine required or do I need to line up the hard stuff?

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 15:13

It's a dirty martini episode Wink

IdaBlankenship · 12/06/2013 17:25

Oooh intriguing!
Damn why do I only have Pimms and Port in the house - they are not sexy drinks at all!

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 17:34

Mix them and invent a new cocktail?

Lighthousekeeping · 12/06/2013 18:59

I have Pimms too. The elderflower one. I could pour it into a martini glass.

OP posts:
IdaBlankenship · 12/06/2013 19:23

I don't even have any mixers - I am a failed sophisticate.

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 19:34

I half a bottle of flat tonic but no gin Sad. However I do have two bottles of dodgy Austrian schnapps.

Lighthousekeeping · 12/06/2013 19:40

I got drunk

OP posts:
Lighthousekeeping · 12/06/2013 19:40

On pimms the other night. I had blurred vision the next day. Never again,

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 19:42

I had a Pims and champagne hangover after my wedding. It was grim.

IdaBlankenship · 12/06/2013 19:44

Pimms sneaks up on you as it pretends to not be very alcoholic and rather virtuous with all that salady stuff in it.
I can no longer drink gin following a youthful enthusiasm for it. Austrian schnapps should probably be approached with caution.

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 19:47

I love gin and intend to drink a lot of it this Saturday on a very rare girl's night out. We are going for a meal and cocktails so I will be sophisticated and order a dry martini and then slide off the bar stool

IdaBlankenship · 12/06/2013 20:03

In the PL postcode Sorrel? Perhaps the Gin Distillery - I have slid (slidden/slode?) off their bar stool a fair few times in my youth!

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 12/06/2013 20:18

Oh, I have muchos booze in the house, however I'm too knackered to stay up and watch tonight so it will have to be Thursday for me.

IdaBlankenship · 12/06/2013 20:22

No Accidental that will not do at all - just think to yourself What Would Don Draper Do? No, don't go and shag your neighbour - drink through that tiredness and then keep drinking!

SorrelForbes · 12/06/2013 20:54

The Gin Distillery has a rather nice cocktail bar on the top floor. Will add to itinerary Grin.

The new mantra? What would DD do? What would Joan do? What would Pete do?

Kneedeepindaisies · 12/06/2013 21:26

Sorrel, I had the exact same hangover after my wedding.

My FIL was putting gin in my Pimms though. I didn't find out until the next day.Sad

LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 21:28

Champagne hangovers are bloody awful,

God I want a pimms now. Or a dirty martini.

Lighthousekeeping · 12/06/2013 21:41

The trouble with Pimms is that I have no clue how to pour one for myself. I can hardly make a jug up on a school night.
