sexy david tennant 'blonde drools' plays a police officer who investigate a childs body found on the beach :(

OP posts:
armagh · 09/04/2013 00:01

It was all a bit frantic at the end.
I haven't a clue what is going on.
David tennant's accent is difficult to understand Smile

jodee · 09/04/2013 00:04

armagh I'm struggling to understand DT too, can anyone translate what he said to Miller when he was making toast? He mumbled something (I re-wound 3 times but still didn't get it), Miller said "Lady Gaga". [confiused]

teejwood · 09/04/2013 00:04

If we are seeing the secrets of different suspects then

  • dad was having an affair
  • sis is having underage sex with bf who has links to drug dealer
  • bf has links to drug dealer
  • PQ lost her whole family and may have been culpable in their deaths
  • Jack had an affair with a student and was convicted of underage sex
  • will mellor is a petty criminal/conman
  • vicar is a recovering alcoholic
  • nige is a bloody pyscho with a crossbow but we don't know the exact nature of his secret
  • the postman was up to something, for sure, but again we don't know what.

When Tom deleted those documents and texts, what were they? Lists of people on the newspaper rounds who were buying drugs? Documents containing bullying or offensive content? A list of times/places of thefts? A list of customers wanting dodgy pics of the boys or similar?

Was the postie also delivering drugs on his rounds and there was a bit of a turf war going on?

Maybe Danny was bragging about the money he was getting from whatever he was doing, and Tom fell out with him about it as Tom felt Danny's actions would put Tom in a difficult position with his mum?

What if Nige, say, encouraged Danny to come along and help steal the diesel for a laugh, to get more money, but something went wrong? Or maybe Nige was using the diesel theft as a front to get hold of Danny for other purposes?

Normally I would have a suspect pegged by now but i keep veering between Nige, the postie and Will Mellor Confused

teejwood · 09/04/2013 00:08

The thing that is confusing me about Tom or his dad being involved, is whether the timing works? Weren't they literally just back from holiday so too rapid a turnaround to set up a murder or whatever? Confused

antlerqueen · 09/04/2013 00:35

Were they back from a holiday? I thought it was just her first day back after having the baby. Besides, in this episode they were talking about how the murder was probably not planned - that the murderer randomly took the boat because it was at the beach. The whole boat ordeal however leads again back to Tom and/or his dad...

sweetiepie1979 · 09/04/2013 00:52

How many episodes left I'm getting really fed up with it now I can't stand David tenant

armagh · 09/04/2013 07:46

Jodee i rewound the last few minutes too Smile

Fiderer · 09/04/2013 08:35

I'm still enjoying it, thought it was a good episode. Seeing more of Tom and Chloe and the vicar. Chloe's the only family member we've seen cry, iirc.

Didn't Maggie call PQ "Detective Inspector"? So was she was the monster who killed her husband and children?

Ollie didn't look terribly guilt-racked at Jack's death, very teenagey with the "calls, texts, email, Skype" Still think he's very pretty though.

I thought the going to the games place was more credible than Danny's parents going through his things but now that we know it's been 8 weeks since the murder I suppose that was more believable.

Not sure if DT had been strangled at the end or had another of his turns.

greenhill · 09/04/2013 09:05

Fiderer Maggie was addressing the Detective Inspector who was concealed behind shelving in the Echo's office, as Susan was sitting at the table with her. She was taken to the police station for questioning.

Ollie is young and was put out by the journalist leaving and not replying to his texts etc after their fling. He is supposed to be immature, hence the editor's mentor role and Ellie telling him not to release info about the murder victim in the first episode and him doing it anyway, even though it was against newspaper protocols as well as police ones. It is suspicious that he is so keen to be in on all the action.

Will the vicar go to the police with info about Tom destroying the laptop in the next episode? Tom holds the metaphorical key to the murder, he knew what Danny was up to at night. The power cut from the first episode might be important and the hard drive of Danny's computer must finally be investigated.

In the next episode, I think they will concentrate on the Alec Hardy backstory, his health issues and what went wrong with the other case he was working on. I think the murdered girls mother's grief has clouded her judgement on how the police handled her trial. He'd stated he had nothing to hide and didn't want it covered up, suggesting that it wasn't Alec Hardy's fault.

Will the dead dog be a message to Susan to keep quiet from Nige? The murderer was a man with big hands who had strangled Danny when facing him, Nige with his crowd of vigilantes had set up the newsagent to keep attention from him and his dodgy activities.

The psychic conman must return in the last episode or he wouldn't be referenced in AH's dream. Does he link to Nige?

I'm getting more suspicious of Ellie's family too (son, nephew, husband and sister)

Fiderer · 09/04/2013 09:18

greenhill I clicked that just after posting as it seemed so bizarre then remembered DT was behind Susan Grin

I thought DT's pill-taking was anxiety but it seems increasingly like it's a physical illness. Was he clutching his side?

greenhill · 09/04/2013 09:28

I'm going to have to re-watch some scenes, it was too dark to see whether DT was attacked or keeled over due to over exertion whilst on medication. No wonder the hotel owner knocked him back Sad

I missed the first 10 minutes of one episode so have probably missed loads of clues

MandragoraWurzelstock · 09/04/2013 10:47

I think PQ gave Tom the deck because she was hiding it for Noige.

And she knows they will find his prints on it. I don't think she did Danny in. I think she is involved with something dodgy with Noige and isn't going to protect him any longer.

Sadly the dog was took before he knew she was doing this. Poor dog Sad
Lovely dog as well.
Baby might be niges actually, she only said Ouzo night, not who with.

MandragoraWurzelstock · 09/04/2013 10:48

I think Tennant fell over because he's proper poorly. The person sort of ran into Ellie/attacked her but didn't stick around to attack Tennant. I'm glad she is Ok, she is my girl crush.

MandragoraWurzelstock · 09/04/2013 10:50

Nige was going to use the dog as a threat to her, if she was thinking of turning him in

but she already has with the board. Clever bird

MandragoraWurzelstock · 09/04/2013 10:51

I think it's diesel rather than anything sexual

maxeen123 · 09/04/2013 11:01

It's some thing to do with the police women's husband and sister Also knows something about the husband or have it off with him and Danny found out ? And told pw son which he didn't believe that why they have fallen out ? But who was up at the hut last night and who ring the pw ? Arrrr too many ?

DuelingFanjo · 09/04/2013 11:13

isn't the postman a red herring too? The guy who died said he thought it was a postman but it was just the proximity of the post van that made it look like that - could have been anyone. Could have been a plumber or an electrician/phone fixer man.

What was it the policewoman said about the Will Mellor character, that he had loads of books in the bookshop about his Psychic powers, so a bit more that just a petty criminal. He must have people who take him seriously.

DuelingFanjo · 09/04/2013 11:19

"Were they back from a holiday?"

yes - they had all been away on holiday for 2 or three weeks.
They had just got back the day before the murder was discovered. So if policewoman's husband is the killer it was probably not planned but Policewoman's son probably fell out with dead boy before the holiday. So perhaps texts he deleted were arguments they had while away etc and computer stuff is facebook pages/messages about whatever they fell out about which I still think is something to do with policewoman's husband, paternity, affair etc.

DreamsTurnToGoldDust · 09/04/2013 11:28

Oki, my pennys worth,

Plumbers mate is PQ son, he was abused by the father, he hates her as she allowed it to happen, he moved away, she followed and that is why she said they have to learn to live with each other, hence he killed the dog as he thinks she cared more for the dog then him, [pause for breath] though why she had the skateboard and handed it over is baffling, hmm unless the plumbers mate did it and shes going to try to take the blame.

then, policewomans son and Danny fell out hence him trying to delete all evidence of that as in his adolesenced mind he thinks he will be blamed for his death.

Tom, the vicar, not sure, hes very aggressive with the police and why did we have a shot of him touching boys knee?

So I have eliminated some, but am no nearer in deciding who did it, but my monies actually on the policewoman and her husband being no good, no evidence just a hunch Grin

Or the dog did it?

DuelingFanjo · 09/04/2013 11:31

I don't think touching the knee is that big a deal, it's just that NT's character is getting desperate and now seeing suspicious stuff when it's not really there.

flakjacket · 09/04/2013 12:12

For some reason I was assuming Alec Hardy had a heart problem - angina or somesuch? He takes pills after clutching himself...

antlerqueen · 09/04/2013 12:22

Ah, must've missed the holiday bit. Also, re: postman and the van, i think i recall Jack saying it must've been a postman because who else was out at that time with a van. Who else has a van? Nigel. But to me too many things are pointing at him, especially with last night's episode, it would almost be too easy if he was the killer.

NorthernLurker · 09/04/2013 12:25

Looks like a heart problem with Hardy to me.

I seem to remember that early on when Mark was saying he was out with Nige, Ellie said 'we've talked to your mum and she says' - so there is a mum figure who lives with Nige. Doesn't mean PQ isn't his biological mother though.

Wtf is going on with the crossbow?

Ellies husband not liking DT talking to Tom could be guilty conscience or could just be a father being protective.

Is it possible that Tom thinks he knows why Danny was killed - because of things they knew about other people but is in fact wrong. He clearly didn't know PQ or have any suspcions of her, nor of his dad nor the vicar.

I really have no idea at all! Grin

NorthernLurker · 09/04/2013 12:26

Will Mellor had a van too didn't he - but not red. Nobody has a red van!

towicymru · 09/04/2013 12:42

I am going to have to watch last night's episode again. too many subtle clues going on for my brain to cope with!

I thought hte dog did some great acting in the back of the van last night - he really looked sad & as if he was about to be executed!!
