Digital channel CITV steps back in time during the weekend of the 5th and 6th January 2013. From 9:25am through to 6pm on both days, the channel will showcase some of the best children's programming from the heyday of CITV. Of note is the absence of anything since 2006 - the year the CITV channel was born, but also the year when ITV largely abandoned children's programming.

Here's what you can expect:

Saturday 5th January 2013

9:50 Super Gran (second episode, 1985)
10:15 Wizadora (last episode, 1998)

ILikeWhisperingToo · 05/01/2013 18:27

ARgh here too - only remembered when I saw this thread - missed Count Duckula :( Did catch Geoff Capes in Sooty though! And looking forward to How2 tomorrow loser Grin

Tinkerisdead · 05/01/2013 19:35

We had it on all day so i saw it all but a lot wasnt actually "watched" iyswim. Was so weird, your mind picks out key parts of a programme when your remembering it but when it comes on you go "ohhhh yesssss i remember this!"

But did anyone catch t- bag? I just did not remember it being filmed infront of such dire scenery backdrops.

NewAndSparklyMe · 05/01/2013 21:41

I watched T-Bag, as I used to love that show! I always used to be jealous of the way she managed to just click her fingers and appear wherever it was she wanted to go.
However much I practised, it never bloody worked for me. Angry Grin
Oh, and you're not SUPPOSED to notice the dodgy scenery when you're small. That's the fantastic thing about being a kid - you just don't notice how crap it all really is, just the sheer brilliance of the programme and stories!
It's only when you get your crap boring adult brain that you start to pick holes in everything. Grin

Tinkerisdead · 05/01/2013 21:48

Oh yes thats a fair point but really?!! Really?!! How did i never realise it was a couple of characters stood in a sandpit?!!!

NewAndSparklyMe · 05/01/2013 22:24

How did i never realise it was a couple of characters stood in a sandpit?!!!
Grin
Oh to be young again when everything was magical, even sandpits Smile

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 06/01/2013 14:21

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/01/2013 15:19

Waiting with 3 year old DD for Woof . Hoping I will be allowed to follow on with Dramarama

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 06/01/2013 15:53

im watching woof too. i remember this episode. brilliant programme. love the grandpa Grin

they really need to have a retro channel

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/01/2013 16:12

I didn't realise the girl in Woof is now pretty well regarded - was in the Secret of Crickly Hall recently.

FellowshipOfFineFellows · 06/01/2013 20:27

I'm going to find the box set of Tomorrow People. Dd was engrossed.
I forgot all about Kristian Schmidd. I had my first major crush on him when I was 10 Smile
I'd forgotten about Spatz as well.
Hope they show some more of these.

DrCoconut · 07/01/2013 20:28

Dramarama was awesome back then, loved it. I remember an episode called torches end about a boy who reads under the bed covers with a torch and discovers that if you crawl down to the end of the bed there is a tunnel of duvet that leads away to an adventure. Another one about a boy who becomes trapped in an old film after trespassing in the shed where it was stored. Looking back some of them have a slight moral theme - the kids who get into scrapes have usually been a pain or disobedient in some way.

DrCoconut · 07/01/2013 20:34

We need a retro kids tv channel. With material from all channels. They could show moondial and I could record it rather than pay the hideous DVD price.

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 07/01/2013 20:40

i wonder if they did it to "test the waters" and see how popular it would be keeps fingers crossed Grin

Bonbonchance · 07/01/2013 23:44

Moondial!!!! Loved that!!!

hippoCritt · 08/01/2013 21:54

Some dramarama episodes are on you tube, gutted to not be able to watch the rest of children's ward. I don't think there are children's dramas currently who feature issues and emotions are there? Only Tracy beaker and that is painful to watch. Also on Sunday's episode of children's ward the doctor gave a boy a kiss as he left the ward, if that happened today they would be a daily mail headline.
