Digital channel CITV steps back in time during the weekend of the 5th and 6th January 2013. From 9:25am through to 6pm on both days, the channel will showcase some of the best children's programming from the heyday of CITV. Of note is the absence of anything since 2006 - the year the CITV channel was born, but also the year when ITV largely abandoned children's programming.

Here's what you can expect:

Saturday 5th January 2013

9:25am Mike and Angelo (1990)
9:50 Super Gran (second episode, 1985)
10:15 Wizadora (last episode, 1998)

I can't wait! These are from the days when CITV was the best channel for children's programmes.

I want to watch Woof! because I didn't realise until years later it was filmed near me and then it was too late to check.

I got annoyed that it wasn't the Queen's nose coin used in the show, how hard would it be to find the right coin??? I still get them now and get very excited about it and I'm sure if they don't turn up you can ask a bank/ PO/ radio show for one!

Does anyone know what this programme is, this is all I can remember of it, there was an alien(?) that spoke to the main character and would appear as a pretty light show on the ceiling. I remember my brother and I using a torch shone through the light shade to play it Xmas Confused

confuddled was the main character a girl or boy? what age? hair colour etc? what sort of things happened in the show?

I honestly don't remember! I used to love it, whatever it was! I think the child would be in bed and this light show (amazing 80s SFX) appeared on the ceiling of the bedroom - I think the child was doing stuff for the alien. I must have been pretty young to not remember so must have been mid-80s.

Hooray! Very excited about knightmare, fraggle rock and worst witch! :) we have button moon on dvd and Ds loves it!
confuddled was it on in the school holidays in the am not after school with a girl whose dad was an alien & could freeze time etc? He used to speak wisely to her at the end through a pyramid light up thing. The music was 'would you like to swing on a star'?
I annoyingly can't remember what it was called but remember the program! Someone may know the name though

Have bought Fraggle Rock for me DS for Christmas Grin

Someone needs to create a dedicated TV channel for 80's kids TV!

Just watched the pilot to Chocky, seems I've always been a sci-fi fan, I was only 3 when it came out! Must ask my husband if he watched it, he'd have been a little older (cradle snatcher that he is) so may have.

That episode of Dramarama - Back to Front, scared the crap out of me when I was younger. A boy gets trapped in a mirror and it is so, so creepy.

It is a real shame what's happened to children's TV in this country. There used to be a great deal of investment in it, now aside from the BBC, no one else bothers.
