West Wing Series 7

So who's watching and and what do you think?

I'm a bit disappointed, there isn't enough White House stuff and too much on the campaign trail. I think that although at the end of the last season I liked both Santos and Vinnick, there is too much of them so far in this.

Vinnick has started being painted as a bit of a baddie after last weeks episode, but I don't feel that bothered about the election as I know that I won't be seeing the winner in the White House.

Santos new advisor Lou is just a watered down Amy, and I don't feel that involved with any of the campaign staff.

What about the leak? Where are Leo, Jed, Charlie, CJ and the rest?

Oh, ri-ght lilibet... you're interested in the plot, rather than just the men.

(It's all got a bit 'teenage girl' on this thread.)

Well, it's possible, isn't it? What with his brother and everything. And Toby is doing something because it's right, without worrying if it's the right thing to do (iyswim). But if CJ wasn't the leak, she has been surprisingly coy these last few episodes.

lilibet · 04/04/2006 09:02

At last!!

But at the end of the episode didn't Toby say "It's me"

Why didn't the silly thing tape? Why???????????????????????

CQ.... remember... I have DTs! You should see the size of my handbag!!!!!Grin

Be ready at dawn!

Ellbell · 04/04/2006 12:51

Yes, he did, lilibet. (But could he be trying to protect CJ? Not sure if he's that noble, though... although right back in the first/second series I felt that there was a little spark between them.) I'm fairly sure that it was Toby, in view of that; but I still find it odd that CJ wasn't more vehement in her denials... (protecting Toby?).

sis · 04/04/2006 13:13

no I'm sure it was Toby. I think they hinted pretty strongly at it for the last two episodes. It makes sense cause Toby is the one likely to follow his conscience and I think the flinging things at Josh was at about the same time as the leak wasn't it? in retrospect - a sign of the stress he was under?

Did anyone say I need to get a life?

Ellbell · 04/04/2006 13:57

Me and you both, sis!

Also... it was so obviously set up for everyone to suspect CJ, that in a way she is the least likely person, to have been the leak. And as CoS I think her first loyalty would have to be to the President.

But Toby!!! Please don't tell me that he's being written out from now on?

MadameDeMars · 04/04/2006 15:31

I think it's that other woman..... who took over from the gorgeous general. Her name escapes me. I think that we are meant to think it's Toby or CJ, but I don't think it is!

MrsQ · 04/04/2006 16:16

Don't think it can be found to be Toby - at the beginning of the first episode they had that '3 years in teh future' bit at the opening of Bartlett's library... and Toby was there. Aren't they suggesting that whoever it is is going to prison for a lot longer than that. Maybe that's how they write Leo out? Not sure at which point the actor died - those bits in last Friday's episode when he kept looking at his watch looked to me like they could have been 'library shots' worked into the story after he'd died.

Ellbell · 04/04/2006 16:55

Toby'd get a good lawyer though (bring back Sam!).

Surely Leo's way too loyal to Bartlet, isn't he? (Leo's going to die of severe breakdown of his taste in women if he keeps on chatting up the squeaking midget...)

lilibet · 04/04/2006 17:00

But Toby said 'It was me'
Why would he cover for anyone?

OP posts:
meowmix · 04/04/2006 17:14

hijack... does anyone know when this'll be out on dvd? we don't have sky and I'm desparate to see it..

MrsQ · 04/04/2006 19:40

Get a Freeview box and you can watch it then - altho they do normally come round on DVD fairly quickly.

Know what you mean about him saying 'it was me'...maybe it was him and someone else IYSWIM

Ellbell · 04/04/2006 19:49

I suppose that CJ is implicated whatever, since she was the only one who was told officially, and it was her who told Toby and Leo (can't remember now if she told anyone else...). May have to get the DVD out to check... How sad is that? But I think the actually leak probably was Toby. I think he that he felt everything crumbling around him (only a few more Bartlet-led months to go and then he's out of a job anyway; no Leo, no Josh, no Donna, not even Will to get his claws into) and that he thought of his brother and knew what was the right thing to do and just did it. Noble, see?

Ellbell · 04/04/2006 19:50

... the actual leak...

MadameDeMars · 04/04/2006 19:50

is there any chance it is repeated again? I forgot to set the sky+ for last night and it failed on the Sunday. Sad

sis · 05/04/2006 08:50

Mars, how could you forget twice?! I think we need to question your loyalty to the series!Smile

Ellbell · 05/04/2006 09:56

Jimmy'll start to think you don't love him any more, Mars... Wink

MadameDeMars · 05/04/2006 13:19

I only forgot once cos I thought it had taped. But it said failed!!!!!!! I'm distraught!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lilibet · 24/04/2006 16:58

What did you all think of the debate?

and looks aside who would you vote for?

OP posts:
Ellbell · 24/04/2006 22:35

Hiya WW-lovers! Have been away and in mad rush to get away (work crises, dh away the week before we went and working nights...) didn't set video. So missed the episode after the Toby revelation. I'll have to go to the TWOP pages and read the summary when I have time. But let me know if I missed anything really exciting. (Anything Donna-related?)

Saw the last half of the debate when we caught it last night while channel flicking. I thought that they were taking pains to portray the two characters as evenly balanced, although I felt that Vinick came across as more traditionally conservative than he'd been portrayed previously (though some of his responses were masterful). I'd vote for Santos every time (not on the basis of looks!) because I am as liberal as they come, so it's a no-brainer for me. But I still feel that Vinick will win it in the end.

Caribbeanqueen · 25/04/2006 14:09

Hmmm, Mars, forgetting Jimmy means you surrender all rights to him!

sis · 25/04/2006 14:18

I thought the debate episode was very disappointing - nothing very awful about what was said - just that it made for a dull episode. How did everyone else find it?

ellenrose · 28/04/2006 16:15

I agree - thought this episode was a little dull in comparison to others. Have watched WW since the beginning and thought the Aaron Sorkin series were better but no denying Jimmy Smits makes up for it Grin

Finding it hard to watch these on More4 with all of the ads - watched all of the previous stuff on the DVDs which is much better so will probably wait to get Series 7 and watch it all again.
