IMO this is the start of something very very far and very very deep reaching

There are more people involved w/o a doubt both victims and abusers

:(

hiddenhome · 04/10/2012 00:20

Who's going to be able to dig deep enough to reveal it though? The police involved? The Masons? Politicians, other celebrities? Sad

AmberLeaf · 04/10/2012 00:20

Despite this being on my mind this last week, I bloody forgot to watch, is it not going to be available on itv player online?

BunnyLebowski · 04/10/2012 00:21

It will be Amber

You might have to wait till tomorrow for it to appear though.

Jinsei · 04/10/2012 00:26

I'm sure that many more victims will come forward. And many more will remain silent, as they can't bear the pain of going over those old memories.

I feel sick. The abuse alone is obviously sickening, but somehow it's even more disturbing to hear how open it was. That guy De'ath knew that Savile was in bed with "a little girl" but he did nothing, said nothing. He said everyone knew. It's unforgiveable that he was allowed to get away with it, and nobody tried to stop it.

I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight.

AmberLeaf · 04/10/2012 00:30

Thanks Bunny.

PiggyBankMum · 04/10/2012 00:31

Is it too late to watch it anwhere now?

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 04/10/2012 00:36

itv1+1 on now

MrsjREwing · 04/10/2012 00:38

DM progressing the story with the GG, JS and living fat famous peado.

Reallynotsureaboutthis · 04/10/2012 00:43

Watching that clip of GG with his arms around those 2 girls, and JS doing the same as his programme ended made me feel sick to my stomach.

LineRunner · 04/10/2012 00:47

You can here him saying to GG, 'There look, I'm giving girls away.' As a joke.

LineRunner · 04/10/2012 00:47

hear sorry

Reallynotsureaboutthis · 04/10/2012 00:57

I've no idea who the 'living fat TV presenter' is. According to the DM article, he's still working, and has issued a denial via his agent.

WandaDoff · 04/10/2012 01:27

That programme made me cry.

AmberLeaf · 04/10/2012 07:56

Just watched it on ITVplayer.

I wonder how his defenders will respond now they've watched it.

LineRunner · 04/10/2012 08:16

There were plenty of people on MN eulogising him just after he died. The charity persona was dominant.

I expect his abusing friends heaved a sigh of relief and thought that chapter was closed.

Just going to read the news sites.

AmberLeaf · 04/10/2012 08:22

What struck me about it was how blatent he was.

He knew he was teflon coated didnt he?

Nasty bastard.

Jinsei · 04/10/2012 08:22

Amber, I doubt the defenders bothered watching. Some people just choose to close their minds to stuff that they don't want to hear.

I still feel disturbed by what I saw last night, it really got to me. Has got me thinking, too, about how to ensure that dd knows she can tell me anything and be believed. The 1970s were different times for sure, and I hope and believe that awareness of abuse has come on a long way since then. However, I don't think it's impossible that someone of jimmy savile's stature could get away with similar even today. :(

cbeebiesatemybrain · 04/10/2012 08:38

I was stunned at his arrogance. He didn't even try to cover his tracks and even made snidey little jokes about it. He knew he could do whatever he liked and get away with it!

perceptionreality · 04/10/2012 09:42

What a disgusting, vile man he was.

I really hope this kind of thing is not still going on today.

Machadaynu · 04/10/2012 09:46

The footage of the end of his show with Gary Glitter, where he sat Glitter very tightly between two girls and said something like 'I shouldn't be giving girls away' really reminded me of what he was like when he was on Jim'll Fix it - he said things like that all the time, and it sort of made you a bit uneasy as a kid, but I suppose I just thought it must be ok because he was doing it on tv.

It was a very different culture back then :(

perceptionreality · 04/10/2012 09:52

Yeah, an apologist for Gary Glitter ffs? I had no idea such a thing existed.

As others have said I expect there is far worse about him that we have not even heard.

magentastardust · 04/10/2012 12:21

Did Denise Van Outen not mention being Gary Glitters giffriend when she was 15 or 16 ,I remember it from years ago when she just started out on the BB. Then when akk the Gary Glitter stuff came out it was never mentioned again ? Did I imagine that or does anyone else remember that ?

janesnowdon1 · 04/10/2012 12:26

Magnet - I remember about DVO being GG's girlfriend too and then never seeing it mentioned again. Perhaps it was only a Showmance to get her noticed in the early days??

janesnowdon1 · 04/10/2012 12:33

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/510582.stm

The relationship with GG is mentioned here - happened when she was 17. I also read in an old DMail article that she admitted being friends with Glitter but not being his girlfriend.

I hate the way the link article says GG was alleged to have "seduced" the 14 year old - not abuse or rape - which is what it was.
