It sounds as though you have watched this episode a good few times, Morris. Presumably because of the architectural interest? Grin

I nearly cried when I watched the Huff Haus episode - I kept wailing at DP "I want that house' Grin

Ben the Woodsman was fantastic.

What about the couple - I think they were in France - that built their house out of old car tyres filled with sand and they used a series of unpaid (apart from food) mates to help them? It seemed a bit bonkers while they were doing it, but the finished house wasn't bad in the end.

The other one that was fantastic was Kathryn Tyler's house in Cornwall (at the bottom of her mum's garden). She's an interior designer, but had designed the entire house herself without using an architect. Kathryn Tyler.

But that barn earlier this week was gopping. KMcC said they had something 7,000 square foot, which is biiig, but it just looked a complete mess and didn't look as though they'd used the space thoughtfully enough.

ohhh my dream is a huf house as well. with a suitable plot to go with it.
near my parent someone has but a huf house in a very tightly built up area. very exposed (think those lovely big windows right next to the pavement...

Why did I spell it Huff, not Huf?! Blush

There's another German company that makes houses like that (well, I'm sure there are quite a few), apparently these are the dogs b's!! Baufritz

Yes, not ideal in a built-up area. We're in London and there's a plot of land near us which loads of people have had their eyes on for years but the owner is refusing to sell. I'd love to build a house on it - and I'd love a Huf or Baufritz, but I just can't see it working there, you'd need some decent space around it, preferably with some trees as well!

DH still talks about having a Huf house.....

And I love Kathryn Tyler's house, so perfectly livable and unassuming.

Agree with the other people that were unimpressed by this weeks house. DP is convinced they were swingers (hence multiple beds in their old barn!) and exhibitionists!

I loved the woodsman house as well.
The other one I loved was I think a castle in yorkshire, and they ended up with an amazing terrace at the top of the house.
Off to nosy now at the Kathryn Tyler one...

Have I got confused here? The architect for this house (the one on the river) is the wife's XH? But her and her current DH are happy for her XH to design their new house? But it turns out he (XH/architect) is now buggering off to miles away?

Oh crikey, yes, they've all dumped each other!!!

I agree, I don't like her much. And she and new DH are just so ... lovey dovey (probably not for long).

Bloody hell "I hope it floods on them". Nice neighbours - not!

Just switched on. Having your ex design your house is a recipe for disaster.

Where is the build? Is it Henley?

Report
MousyMouse · 10/10/2012 21:23

and still no polish builders Wink

Argh, I missed the first few minutes and thus the floorplan and what it should look like.

Where do normal people get £1.2 million from?

It look like Henley, yes :)

Delightful neighbours eh? Anyone else thinking that the ex knew he was buggering off before he designed it for them?

difficultpickle · 10/10/2012 21:27

Do you mean Vince Hill? Can completely understand how he feels. I wouldn't allow them access via my land.

Ex was incompetent re costings, possibly deliberately so.

Yama the floor plan looks amazing imo.

I would just hate to live next to people with such vitriol.

I wouldn't want to live there.
building insurance must be enourmous with flood risk like that.

I've got this on in the background. Normally its one of my favourite programmes but they're just not engaging people IYSWIM.

Normally you really feel for the house owners, appreciate their struggles and passion etc but this week ....don't like them I'm afraid.
