For me it's always been Blackadder II which has just been repeated, but I wish they hadn't all been killed off at the end.

Who's Queen?

Cousin Nathaniel sits on a spike

and the sea is always a big blue wobbly thing.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 07/09/2012 13:25

One of my favourite characters was Nursie - a sad insane old woman with an udder fixation.

Peggotty · 07/09/2012 13:27

Oh Elizabethan definately - he's actually foxy in it - that beard and codpiece fwoar.

EugenesAxe · 07/09/2012 13:28

picnicbasket - no I think that on reflection, 3 is also my favourite.

I don't think you can beat:

'You don't know what a rotten borough is, do you Sir?'
'er...No'
'So what was the chicken impression in aid of?'
'I just... didn't want to hurt your feelings.'

And the 'Death to the Aristohs!' episode with lovely Chris Whateverhisnameis. Rimmer.

And the 'The Shadow' episode:
'Buh... Baldrick! Thank you for introducing me to a genuinely new experience.'
'What's that Sir?'
'Being pleased to see you.'

But 2 and 4 are also great. 'Don't slouch, Darling' is genius.

"Stranger things have happened..." is always responded with
"...That horse becoming Pope, for one"
and DH does this face Hmm

Lilka · 07/09/2012 16:14

I can't choose a favourite! Love Queenie though

And the first episode of III

Pitt the Younger: I intend to put up my own brother as a candidate against you!
Blackadder: Oh, and which Pitt would this be? Pitt the Toddler? Pitt the Embryo? Pitt the Glint in the Milkman's Eye?

i liked the mediavel series and the Elizabethan one best. the funniest episode was the see the little goblins one where his relatives come and get very drunk.

hilarious

thepowerofvoodoo · 07/09/2012 16:34

2, 3, 4 and 1 in that order. Best three individual episodes are beer from 2, the last one from 2 and one with the duke of wellington from 3.

noddyholder · 07/09/2012 16:37

look Blackadder without doubt the funniest thing on tv ever

WetAugust · 07/09/2012 21:36

Ist series was the best. Pure comedy and great one-liners.

It all went down hill from there with Blackadder seeming increasingly bored with life was the centuries passed.

AmIthatbad · 07/09/2012 21:53

Loved the Spanish Infanta episode, her eyes were as blue as the blue stone of galvestone.

And the Jumping Jews - Angus Deayton was one I think. Side splittingly funny.

Skillbo · 07/09/2012 21:58

Blackadder the 3rd every time - very clever and Hugh Laurie is just amazing... Too many favourite moments but always remember anti distinctly minty (loved seeing that up thread!), when prince George goes "ahhhhhhhhh - unaccustomed as i am to public speaking" and also live the the rotten borough, rubber button... Oh happy times!

ICutMyFootOnOccamsRazor · 07/09/2012 21:58

I love 2,3,4 and 1 in that order. I think the supporting cast in series 2 just made it stand out.

piprabbit · 07/09/2012 21:59

I will always, always remember the heroic stance (and snigger to myself when I see men using it in RL).

Badvoc · 07/09/2012 22:03

2 and 4

Badvoc · 07/09/2012 22:03

Woof!

MirandaGoshawk · 07/09/2012 22:20

See, I never got why she was funny. Confused She just made me squirm!

MildredIsMyAlterEgo · 07/09/2012 22:30

alemci see the little goblin, see his little feet, and his little nosey-wose, isn't the goblin sweet, yes!

I sing this to 21mo DS all the time blush

alemci · 07/09/2012 22:38

yes and great Booze Up - the ship.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 07/09/2012 22:42

2,3,4,1
Just a wild stab in the dark, which is incidentally what you'll be getting if you don't start being a bit more helpful!

FrankelSaysRelax · 07/09/2012 22:48

What did everyone think to the plans for a Blackadder V? Tony Robinson said they'd talked about one set in the 1960s with (Bald Rick!) as the drummer in a rock band and Blackadder the band manager.
I think there was also talk of a WWII Blackadder set in Colditz, though that would probably be too similar to Goes Fourth.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 07/09/2012 22:53

3 I think because of Hugh Laurie. Bloody hilarious.

"I will be back before you can say anti-disestablishmentarianism".

Chubfuddler · 07/09/2012 22:57

I don't like I but can't decide between the other three. Every time I think IV, or III or II definitely is the best I remember something bloody hilarious about the others.

Although I have to say the joint two funniest episodes are the wedding in series II and the court martial in series IV.

"it's better to die than live in shame and ignomy"
"no it isn't"

Chubfuddler · 07/09/2012 22:58

"let's get this over with and then we'll have a spot of lunch"

perplexedpirate · 07/09/2012 23:06

2, 4, 3, 1.

Bloody brilliant the lot of them.

WOOF!
