Oh, you're good!!! Well spotted...

But she also got blown up?

Tee2072 · 01/09/2012 21:13

So far as we know, MC...

KatyMac · 01/09/2012 21:13

Gosh - can you imagine how much trouble he could get in with a Dalek sidekick/assistant

MigratingCoconuts · 01/09/2012 21:15
Grin

A Dalek companion would be a first!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/09/2012 21:23

Poor Dalek-girl. I hope they do manage to make her the new companion, though.

Incidentally, I always have a Dr Who name - SDTG stands for Staying David Tennant's Girl - I name-changed when DT was reached by Matt - to show my continuing allegiance to the lovely David. BlushGrin

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/09/2012 21:31

Found you!!!! LOVED IT!! I am such a sap, I cried at Dalek girl 'run, run!'

JackieNo · 01/09/2012 21:39

But she also said, quite calmly, 'remember me'. So I wondered whether she wasn't really there, but had somehow infiltrated the dalek's mind, and she knows that she's going to meet the doctor again later in the series.

snapespeare · 01/09/2012 21:46

I cried aswll

If only I'd seen this thread earlier: I could have pointed clogdancingcarrot to the picture on my profile. A Tardis cake and a Dalek cake Smile

Enjoyed tonight's episode. As dh says though, we need to watch carefully to try to work out the bits of the story arc that will come together in the finale.

confuddledDOTcom · 01/09/2012 22:03

She probably made all the others forget him. Never has the title been so meaningful! (However many times they make that jokeWink)

It's not the new companion, just a new actress. They've done it three times before, only one was explained as a relative.

SDTG, I'm with you! I've been watching them all on Watch and MS isn't as strong an actor and hasn't had the strong stories either which doesn't help.

Cakebot · 01/09/2012 22:40

She must be the new companion. She is going full time into the show in December, it's too soon to have the same actress play two different parts, unless they are going to say the companion is her relative or something. However, the Doctor didn't see her, so he wouldn't go to her and say 'I thought you were a Dalek,' or whatever. There would be no point putting her in there unless the actual character was going to be the companion. She saw him, but he didn't see her. It wasn't a plot hole that all the daleks forgot him but she didn't. She fought against her dalekness in the end, which is how she managed to not kill him and help him to escape. She went back to saying she was human. ( yes, I loved it and I did watch it a bit too carefully!!!)

Mrsjay · 01/09/2012 22:52

It was so good I have just watched it a dalek assistant would be v cool Grin I did sort of twig she wasnt where she thought she was I was expecting a dank dingy cell Shock , Is anybody else really irritated with amy I just cant warm to her at all , I have tried and im not really sorry she is leaving

Mrsjay · 01/09/2012 22:54

she is the new companion so either he meets her before then or she is going to be infact the first dalek assistant

greencolorpack · 01/09/2012 23:17

What's with Rory and Amy getting divorced?? Anyone else thinking how tedious Rory and Amy are? First they are totally mismatched (him saying girlfriend, and her saying friend to describe their relationship, then even after Rory gets the girl he's being a jealous controlling creep and acting suss about Amy and the Doctor) and then they never seem to get on that well and tonight he was going on about loving her more than she loved him.... Tedious!!!

Mrsjay · 01/09/2012 23:19

When did she become a model was the from last series when they returned to life and she became famous ,

LineRunner · 01/09/2012 23:45

My DD used to lurve Amy Pond but now finds her tedious.

MurielTheActor · 02/09/2012 00:05

When she becomes his new companion it will obviously be before she becomes a dalek and he'll somehow save her from her fate which will work nicely as clearly the daleks can't forget about the doctor otherwise they can't be his most feared opponents. So once he's saved from becoming one, the daleks won't have had their memories wiped and they will live to fight him in a future storyline.

TheSilverPussycat · 02/09/2012 01:11

Oh I was thinking it was a clever way to reset the Dr and the Daleks as it was getting a bit problematic that the Daleks knew who he was Hmm

Loved the epi.

confuddledDOTcom · 02/09/2012 02:12

Martha's "cousin" was in the episode before they met, although it was last of a series and first of a series but when you watch it back on Watch it's quite obvious. But, I've just read this:

"Who she's playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor's standards, this isn't your usual boy meets girl."

So anything could happen...

Tee2072 · 02/09/2012 06:37

The difference between Freema Agyeman being in Doctor Who as her own cousin and then as a companion and Jenna-Louise Coleman being in last night's episode is that Freema hadn't actually been given the role of Martha Jones when she appeared in Doctor Who's Series Finale the year before.

Jenna-Louise Coleman has been announced as the new companion and everyone knows it. Also, The Doctor never actually saw what she looked like. She just saw a Dalek. He did hear her voice a lot though. Much harder to explain; 'You sound just like a woman I knew who was a Dalek'. Hmm

It should also be noted that Eve Myles appeared in Doctor Who as a housemaid named Gwen in the episode 'The Unquiet Dead' before she showed up on Torchwood as Gwen Cooper. And that was pointed out when Rose and The Doctor recognized her when the shows crossed over and she said she was Gweneth's granddaughter, I think it was.

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/09/2012 07:46

Maybe he can undo the Dalek conversion if her somehow - she was shouting she was still human at the end. Maybe subtracting hate and adding love would work as it was a 'simple equation'?!?

RustyBear · 02/09/2012 08:13

Tee - I don't think Gwen said explicitly that she was Gwyneth's granddaughter, just that her family were from the area, so it was likely the resemblance wasn't a coincidence.

As I said before, there was also the rather ridiculous situation in Tom Baker's time, when Mary Tamm got pregnant and left as the Time Lady companion Romana - she was replaced by Lalla Ward, who had already appeared in the previous series as Princess Astra, who turned out to be one of the pieces of the Key to Time, which the Doctor had to find to save the universe.

Romana regenerated into the likeness of Princess Astra, simply because she 'felt like it', but she 'tried out' several appearances before settling on that one - it was a really stupid idea. It could have been done so much better if they wanted to use the actress - it could have been a forced emergency regeneration where Romana was having problems regenerating and the TARDIS helped her, using the pattern of Princess Astrid stored in it's memory banks.

Yes, there's another plot hole, Eleanor.

Are you sure Rusty? I thought there was a throw away line about her grandmother, but I might be mis-remembering. Certainly the line about Martha's cousin having been at Canary Wharf was.

RustyBear · 02/09/2012 08:23

Maybe the 'Dalekness' of the voice is created by the physical speaker that produces it on the actual Dalek machine, while perhaps the comms system created the voice from a telepathic signal, which, since Oswin had obviously retained many of her original attributes, would resemble her original voice.

Or something like that.
