That was excellent. The ending was a bit 'we're out of time' but other than that very good.

Other than Aitch, since she knows...speculation for next week?

But wouln't all those revived people have irreversible brain damage?

Tee2072 · 22/09/2012 20:29

I had that same thought Rusty. They'd all been without oxygen for ages.

OodHousekeeping · 22/09/2012 20:36

I just ignore that sort of stuff

Next week looks good, glad to see River back again. I'm hoping Amy dies and Rory isn't bothered. But I'm expecting them both to die :(

Mrsjay · 22/09/2012 20:45

since she knows...speculation for next week?

Amy is gonna be set in stone isn't she Grin well thats what i think.

I really liked the episode tonight but apart from the end was very rushed and im not really sure who the thingy was reminded me of him from star wars Confused

I did eeek seeing River is going to be in next weeks ,

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 22/09/2012 20:46

Tonight was good. Thank goodness. Last few have been disappointing tbh. I think the fact that the exchange between Rory's Dad and the Doctor about campanions dying was a telling one...

Someone's a gonner for sure.

Moffat has apparently confirmed that saying in this article in the Guardian

"Amy and Rory will leave in the fifth [episode] that goes out," said Moffat. "It will be a final encounter with the angels and not everybody gets out alive ? and I mean it this time."

So this is the last time for the Angels too.

Mrsjay · 22/09/2012 20:47

I think it's supposed to be a counterpoint to next week when he doesn't save someone

I think its that what with him telling Brian he had lost some assistants and promised not them , and Brian saying bring them back , its like YEAH RIGHT, I hope it isn't though but I think somebody is for it , like a set in stone amy

OodHousekeeping · 22/09/2012 20:51

The angels are limited characters really, v good at scaring but not a wide range of stories available. They need a long break now.

Mrsjay · 22/09/2012 20:56

yes they do steven moffat is quite lazy imo

Tee2072 · 22/09/2012 21:18

Felt like a RTD ep, which isn't a nice thing to hear if you're Moffat, that the ones I like RTD could have written. But I do think RTD is better.

Anyway, rumours are Rory gets made into an Angel. I think it will be Amy.

Jux · 22/09/2012 22:06

Much better episode this week, though a bit rushed at the end.

Still like Amy. Like Rory. Like Rory's dad. Loathe Riversong - just thought I'd reiterate that, in case anyone missed it on any of the other occasions I might have mentioned it Grin DH doesn't like her much either.

florenceuk · 22/09/2012 22:10

Can anybody tell me whose daughter the head scientist was?

LetUsPrey · 22/09/2012 22:15

Enjoyed that, as did DH and DS1. They didn't particularly like last week's.

Very eeeeek for next week.

She was the daughter of Brigadier Leftbridge-Stewart who was head(?) of UNIT back in the third Doctor's day. I think. I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer actuallyBlush which would be mostly anyone else.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 22/09/2012 22:24

MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAH

DinosaursOnASpaceship · 22/09/2012 22:28

I really enjoyed it, not sure when Rory got so attractive! Loving Mr Weasley too. The ending was a bit rushed I thought but very much in line with doctor who in that everybody lives (the empty child, Martha episode when time goes back a year and everyone is alive again etc) although in the doomsday episode (when rose ends up in the parallel universe) loads of people died.

Nice to see the doctor back to his normal self and sweet of them to give a nod to the brigadier I wonder if Sarah Jane will get a mention at any point.

Looking forward to next week.

Evening all!

Right - not sure about that ep, actually. Def a set-up to next week's ep but I'll admit I loved the appearance of Ms Stewart - yeah for the continuation of the Brig's relationship with the doc! Hoping we have a returning character there. Dp did look at me like this Hmm when the doc asked her why she had dropped part of her name and I exclaimed "The Brig's daughter!" with a big grin on my face

Anyway - the ageing thing is wierd. It just is. Moff putting his own addition into the mythology, OK I get it but it's going to take me a while to get used to it. And how does it change what we have seen already? Amy went off with the doctor the night before her wedding - how long was she gone for really? It would make birthdays really bloody useless, wouldn't it? Because everyone would be congratulating you on your birthday but in 'body clock time'(??) it would have been months before.

Also - red rag to bull time - in the last ep they mentioned that Rory had left his mobile charging in Henry VIII's bathroom, no? And tonight Amy was effectively wed to Henry VIII. So is that 2 visits to old Henry or are we timey-wimey in how these events are happening in the timeline versus what we are seeing on screen?

MurielTheActor · 22/09/2012 23:32

Good starry cast - Jemma Redgrave, Steven Berkoff Grin
Bit rushed at end.
Very very worried and scared for next week Sad

teejwood · 22/09/2012 23:38

Oh and being the doctor's journalist companion is the role of a certain Sarah Jane Smith, no? I thought Amy was a model type or something?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 22/09/2012 23:42

i thought it was TERRIBLY rushed, and berkoff was shit. but then he is shit... rarely has a performer been more over-rated imo.

in stark contrast, there was something beautifully sincere about jemma redgrave tonight, her performance grounded the episode in a way that almost didn't leave room for berkoff to do his anti-theatrical theatrical stuff.

teejwood · 22/09/2012 23:46

Aitch agree re Berkoff, a mythical enemy who wasn't even there. And as said earlier, if Ms Redgrave is our new regular Brig I will be happy.

Now you mentioned a post about the ageing thing - can you post about it now we have seen tonight's ep or not yet?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 22/09/2012 23:50

oh, yes, what was that? i think it related to the last ep, in fact. am fascinated to find out what you all think of the finale. my mum's in hospital and she was telling her (geeky) male nurse that i'd seen the pond finale (seriously, she has little to be proud of concerning her children's achievements). it was a bit weird, actually, i kind of gave him a bit of moffat-esque misdirection without even noticing, and off he went thinking he'd learned something when he totally hadn't. i'm a natural, clearly.

edam · 22/09/2012 23:55

Love the fact you are so dismissive of Berkoff, Aitch, it feels like I've got a clever mate who can put pretentious actors in their place with just a knowing look.
