The all new Corrie thread NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

I remember in th'olden days when there were no spoilers. The nation had no idea whether Deidre would choose to stay with Ken or do a runner with Mike Baldwin until it was actually broadcast. And we didn't know who shot JR.

So for those of us with no life who enjoy Corrie without spoilers, a new thread discuss our beloved soap with all its flaws Grin

Also, I find nothing on there is a "slow burner" anymore.

Relationships are serious in a week, married in the month. Fights escalate rapidly. There's no groundwork. It's lazy and sloppy. It also gives us less time to invest in the characters and their individual stories.

and where as bloody Kylie gone? Her and Rat Boy were meant to be marriage made good against all odds. It makes no sense.

TheScottishPlayer · 12/05/2012 23:34

Yeah, the whole Kylie walking out was such nonsense - clearly just a trumped up ploy to set up a future storyline (I'm guessing she hasn't left). Corrie has completely lost the art of building up a storyline.

I know I'm the only one but I quite like the Paul character. He was devoted to his wife and there were some quite moving scenes between them. And Eileen's relationship with her was nice too if you ignore the adultery

Gnocchi & STO - completely agree about the lack of slowburn and build up.
There are stlly priceless funny moments tho' that remind me of how it used to be so good - eg Kirk saying he wante dot be an undercover cop, someone asking him if was now, and him saying, without irony, 'No, I'd have told you if I was'....

Thought you were referring to the gorgeous little Max when you said Rat Boy - then realised it was David - so apt for him!

thenightsky · 13/05/2012 12:47

yes... the kirk as undercover cop comment was a flash of the old humour.

I'm watching the repeat now.

So Tommy now has no money, but owes Ty nine grand and the loanshark nine grand?

David = Rat Boy Grin

I miss the old banter between Kirk and Graham and the others.

More of Mary and Norris.

Much much much less of Sunita,Carl and Dev.

Report
LineRunner · 13/05/2012 13:21

Dev's back, so now we have descended into naff conversations between Carl and Sunita and about fruity touchings in the Rovers. It's like Carry On Frotting. Ghastly.

I'm in Center Parcs at the moment send help so missed last nights - main events please? I was hoping Paul had buggered off permanently but sounds like he's back again?

Paul still there, until the second episode when he walked out with a havasack. Eileen asked him to leave.
Tommy now working back at the garage under the instructions of the debt collector - think he must want some dodgy dealings to happen
Sunita gave Carl £200 after he blew his wage at the casino
David waitered for Nick (brilliantly crap)
Audrey joined the judgung panel for the Wetherfield in Bloom

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 15/05/2012 15:35

Lozario - I feel your pain Grin I presume the debt collector is going to get Tommy to clone a car or something and land Tyrone/Kevin in it - hope they again have it done and dusted in a few episodes. Glad Paul has gone - couldn't stand looking at him.
Odd story tho' with tommy apparently fully awaare the debt is not cleared but not seemingly agonising over it. Obviously as a device it needs to be that Ty & Tina dont suspect to make it all the more drataic when he does soemthing illegal for teh debt collector. Glad we had the light relief of Rat-boy in the resto.

the debt collector story is so annoying. I hate the way Terry has gone away and Rick gets away with bullying and intimation. He must be known to the police. shame Kirsty doesn't tip them off.

I'm on the verge of quitting watching - for the first time in 15 years!

It's been mentioned up-thread but I just can't bear Carl and Sunita. Her acting, especially, is bloody woeful. Wooden and totally non-believable. I cringe everytime I see we're up for a romantic clinch. Ugh. Ugh. Make. It. Stop.

Terry Duckworth (I know, it looks like he's gone) is also one of the worst actors I've seen on the show.

The hideously boring yawn-fest that is the Weatherfield in Bloom contest, they've asked Audrey to be a judge considering she was The Mayoress about 3 decades ago. yyyaaawwwnn.

Oh, and why oh why do Marcus and Sean love in Eileen's house? Why? He's a midwife and he's got 2 jobs! WHY?

And breathe...

The Paul/Eileen story was done so badly . It could have been a real love story. It's boring seeing every fella of hers being a wrongun.
Can't bear Nick , horrific acting.
Also on the verge of quitting watching for a bit.

I agree, Nick is awful. His storylines are boring and he's probably the most uncharismatic actor of them all. A puppet could deliver his lines better.

Where's Hayley? I love Roy and Hayley.

Report
GnocchiNineDoors · 17/05/2012 18:53

They always seem to have weeks of focus on a few sets of residents and totally ignore the rest, as though they don't live on the street until hey presto! they;ve thought up a storyline for them

I mean, surely the 'regulars' would still be in the background or popping in the shop or whatever.
