I remember in th'olden days when there were no spoilers. The nation had no idea whether Deidre would choose to stay with Ken or do a runner with Mike Baldwin until it was actually broadcast. And we didn't know who shot JR.

So for those of us with no life who enjoy Corrie without spoilers, a new thread discuss our beloved soap with all its flaws Grin

I thought Tyrone's acting was very good

SoleSource · 03/08/2012 22:47

Blimey Mrs Guy.

Tina will get her. Kirsty needs serious therapy.

Should Tyrone leave Kirsty. Yes he should.

theliverpoolone · 03/08/2012 23:29

Finding the whole Kirsty/Tyrone thing very uncomfortable to watch now. I would be very very concerned about how someone like that would cope with the demands of a new baby. No idea where the storyline's heading, but hoping for a safe outcome for the baby and Ty. [must keep remembering, its not real! - although of course for some people this situation sadly is Sad]

Wingedharpy · 04/08/2012 01:02

I think the Kirsty/Tyrone storyline is very good and provides a slightly different slant on domestic violence.
Many men are subjected to this but it generally gets far less publicity than DV towards women - not that this is a competition and it must be a truly hellish thing to deal with regardless of what gender you are.
I think you are so right theliverpoolone - if Kirsty is struggling to deal with her jealousy and anger now, adding a new baby to the mix will not help that's for sure.
It will be interesting to see where they take this story.

MurielTheActor · 04/08/2012 16:17

I agree Wingedharpy It's a very smart move to tackle DV from this angle. I feel (hope) it will allow women in same to get a perspective on their own situation by hearing their own words come out of a man's mouth and thereby get on the road to helping themselves.
Well done Corrie.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/08/2012 17:33

I agree too, I think it is one of the best storylines for a long time, a difficult topic that hasn't been covered before.

Lozario · 06/08/2012 13:44

Tina's fake tan is now looking ridiculous - is that how the character is meant to be, or a genuine image choice made by the actress?!

squoosh · 07/08/2012 15:50

Just came on here to say the same thing. Someone needs to tell Tina to get off the sunbeds. She looks like a giant apricot!

Standing beside Tommy last night she looked ridiculous. Someone from the 1950's would think the girl was severely jaundiced.

AWFUL!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/08/2012 18:54

I was thinking it as well, she's so pretty. I wish she would ditch the giant hoop earrings too.

Do you think we've seen the last of Kirsty? Poor Ty. I thought she was going to be a bit more brazen, making out to Deirdre that he had been battering her.

Loved the bit when Hayley came waltzing back in and pulled the rug out from under Mary's feet.

Lozario · 08/08/2012 19:34

I'm wondering if in a month or two Tyrone will find the baby on his doorstep - they showed she was scared of hurting Ty so maybe when she has the baby she'll be scared of hurting him/her too so will give it to Ty. That would make up for him losing Jack!

lighthousekeeping · 08/08/2012 22:55

I doubt we've seen the last of her. I love Roy and his mother. Is Michelle going to get back with Steve do you think? I can't stand the son. Hate the storyline.

butisthismyname · 10/08/2012 23:14

I am assuming 'our tray-cey' doesn't die but becomes all nice and gets back with steeeeve yet again?

LineRunner · 13/08/2012 17:52

I think the scriptwriters have been reading EdtihWeston's posts and finally remembered that Tracey Luv once had a kidney transplant. You know, the kidney transplant that never got mentioned when she was in prison, when she was pregnant, when she was previously in hospital ...

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 13/08/2012 18:03

LInerunner - indeed!!!!!!!! Have often wondered about that. Aren't they supposed to have some kind of continuity person to keep track of that sort of thing....?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/08/2012 19:50

Do you not think though, that if you had that sort of medical condition you would be off down to the Drs a bit sharpish if you felt that ill. Not hanging around for about a week moaning about it. It's not exactly far for her to go and they always seem to be able to provide an immediate appointment or home visit with the ubiquitous Dr Carter. Oh and her mother is the receptionist.

LineRunner · 13/08/2012 19:50

They should give the continuity job to our EdithWeston, MrsGuy. She's magic at Corrie stuff.

I see Tracey Luv is rallying ...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2012 23:34

Just watched tonight on catch-up.
Gary and Izzy storyline.
Whoever thought of the Katie-surrogate mum storyline must've spent oooooh at least a whole second thinking it up.

Gary"We can't have children, we can't adopt. I want a baby,like, yesterday"
Katie" Oh I'll do it, I'll be a surrogate".

Yep, right. Like that happens. Hmm

Predictable and just a tad insulting IMO.

LineRunner · 16/08/2012 23:49

And I thought Katie was meant to be not-an-adult? I agree, just crass plotting.

I did like the Mary and Hayley scene, though.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 17/08/2012 09:01

Have not seen yesterday's episoded yet, but am bewildered at the pace if ther is suddenly surrogacy inolved????? - and yes rubbish plotting. Depressing that corrie-watchers are now assumed to have the nano-second attention span of gnats, and you get this type of 'plot' Sad

LeeCoakley · 17/08/2012 09:22

Agree about poor scripting at the moment. The way that Deirdre just turned on Steve didn't ring true. For a start she would have been more sceptical about them getting back together and wouldn't have allowed Tracey-luv to get so excited about it. The bit where Amy caught Steve and Michelle was too contrived as well. It was all leading up to Tracey implying she was going to ruin Steve and Michelle's romance.
And the surrogate bit was, well, awful. You are right - everything's happening at lightning speed and not realistic.
I was surprised to see Fireman Sam for a few seconds, I'd forgotten he was still around!
I want more Stella/Karl/Sunita slanging matches (where's Dev by the way?) and David and Gail to fall out with someone in a big way.
I want them to watch CBB and say 'Ooooh look, there's Bet!'

qazxc · 17/08/2012 20:52

Errr Katie should you not have run the surrogate thing past Chez or even mention it to him?

LineRunner · 17/08/2012 21:41

Owen going bonkers was the only plausible moment.

MurielTheActor · 18/08/2012 13:11

Tear in my eye when Izzy turned her back on her dad Sad
The adoption meeting was quite brutal. But then I LOVE Gary and can't bear that they are being penalized over what happened to him as a result of fighting for his country.

Bit concerned that Dr Carter is nothing more than a public information mouthpiece at the moment. Give him a storyline.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 19/08/2012 18:51

LR - agree about Owen, that was true to character. Dr Carter cypher is hilarious.

lighthousekeeping · 19/08/2012 21:05

Its a ridiculous storyline. I wish one of them would bloody go to college and get some qualifications, it really annoys me.

I dont like Michelle or, her son.
