A mother is still breastfeeding her 8 yr old daughter!

Will try and watch it tho I think it might make me feel ill.

There is also a woman who tandem feeds her 4 yr old twins!

But just because you disagree with something dont make it sick and the person a freak.

Mud · 28/01/2006 16:30

Mud · 28/01/2006 16:31

it makes me feel sick and the act of breastfeeding an 8 year old is freakish

hercules · 28/01/2006 16:31

Cod, dh comes from a developing poor country where loads of his family were fed for a long time and they are all rich.

I am proud of how restrained I've been here actually.

hercules · 28/01/2006 16:34

but cod that's the point, most do breastfeed past 2!

Blandmum · 28/01/2006 16:34

true, but no child, or very very few would be only bf at the age of 4. The process of weaning and bf would continue over time, don't you think? The child getting nutrients from both and antibodies etc from the breast milk.

While a child in the West isn't going to be disadvantaged by earlier weaning, it cannot be seen as 'odd' if the vast majority of women do can it?

Driving a car is a damn sight more pleasent than walking for bloody miles, but no-one would say that walking was 'barking', just because we don't have to do it so much in the West is it?

I also think that it very sad and indicative of society's overall approach to b-feeding that the first programme I have EVER seen on the subject is on what some people consider extreme. I just can't imagine that it can therefore be at all balanced. Like someone said how about something that focuses on b-feeding babies

hercules · 28/01/2006 16:35

Mud, it's true we wont agree. However, I dont decide that someone is sick and a freak because of something they do which is done by millions of people the world over. Just remember to avoid the freak in future in case I make you vomit.

Blandmum · 28/01/2006 16:36

fair enough, your ds is past the point where he needs it.

But I wiped my ds's arse for longer than dd's....she was more organised than he was in that department It doesn't make my wiping his arse 'barking' tho!

Aw, now that was a nice post cod.
Mud - no-one is slagging you off for using formula or cows milk so could you not just let people make their own choices? Would it be very nice if we were to start callling you "abusive" for not feeding your children milk that has proven benefits? No, of course not. You have made your point. We heard you. Can we not just agree to disagree?
