Custy is right.

I watch, and have watched since the beginning.

The premise is brilliant (well, the premise of the comics), and I was hoping for greatness. it COULD be so much better. Some of the dialogue is terrible. The characters are terrible, aside from the odd one (Daryl).

It fails where it could be incredible. It's such a shame.

I think the second season has suffered because apparently the budget was slashed by a huge amount after season one. That was one of the main reasons Frank Darabont left. He didn't want the show to suffer and he knew they wouldn't be able to keep up the high standard with the lower budget. Whether he left or was sacked is still a sore subject I think. I would imagine that's why there's been an increase in the slow talky scenes as they are much cheaper to film than the action scenes. It's all about saving money at the end of the day.

PfftTheMagicDraco · 21/03/2012 22:49

I heard he was sacked to keep costs down

wintera · 22/03/2012 06:50

Yeah I think you are right. At first it seemed he had walked but it's looking more and more like he was sacked. Bit Shit really when he was the guy who got the show started etc. Not a nice way to be treated. And if the budget was the reason behind it all then I think this season has proved him right. Most people were kind of bored by the first half of the season. It's only this second half of the season that has really stepped up a notch. I wonder how the cast felt about his sacking? I also wonder if that influenced some of the decisions about who died too. After all, some of the cast have worked with him on different projects.

PfftTheMagicDraco · 22/03/2012 07:29

I thought that of this season, only the finale was entertaining.

And I thought that the first season was disappointing, really. At the end of S1, I thought I wouldn't come back, but I hoped it might work things out. To be honest, I think that AMC are still learning about television, but they get a lot of things right, which is one of the reasons I keep watching. I read that TWD is a much bigger ratings hit than either Mad Men or Breaking Bad, which surprises me. To be honest, I just wish it would be better, because it could be incredible. But I feel that the casting is off, the dialogue is poor, and the women characters are just terrible.

Am an avid Fringe watcher too. To the point that I am now on US pace.

JKSLtd · 23/03/2012 18:43

OUT obv damn autocorrect!

KalSkirata · 23/03/2012 19:03

all ready for the finale but a few questions. Given that Daryl, Carl and anyone else wonder the woods at will, meeting just the odd zombie, where the friggety fuck have the massive hordes seen at the end of last week rolled in from?
WTF?

JKSLtd · 23/03/2012 19:26

Well in one of the books I read the zombies 'swarm' though no explanation was given as to why or how they did that.
It could just be karma - all those days with no zombies in sight. :)

Or the zombies in the nearest city have run out of food?

KalSkirata · 23/03/2012 19:35

There's books?

JKSLtd · 23/03/2012 19:47

Ah, not books to do with Walking Dead, but other zombie books - JL Bourne books & the News trilogy ones are the most recent I've read.

JKSLtd · 23/03/2012 20:14

Grr, was sure it started at 9pm (when staying up til 10 is a push with the early-rising DC i have), then saw it doesn't start til 10! WIll I make it to the end??

WakeUpRosemary · 23/03/2012 20:19

About the Frank Darabont thing: I heard the actor that played Dale left because he was loyal to Darabont.

wintera · 23/03/2012 22:03

Yes I heard a similar thing, he has worked with Darabont a few times I think. Makes sense definitely. Also, the actor who played Shane is going to be in Darabont's next tv project too. He was also praising Darabont in a tv interview recently.

JKSLtd · 23/03/2012 22:05

Here we go - I've made it, still awake!

browneyesblue · 23/03/2012 22:47

Soooo, if they are all carriers, does that mean that Lori's baby may be immune?

(apologies if this has been asked already / would make no sense scientifically)
