Two Cathedrals - have watched it several times and only just realised last night that Mrs Landingham was driving back to the WH as Bartlet wanted to tell her about the MS.

I love the scenes with young Mrs L and Jed.

You're right on the bear score, Mandy had tried to interest Josh in the 'banana bar' (according to Donna's 'distinctive penmanship') and he had told her to go and see Toby. Thus there was no need to try and sympathise with both sides in the 'bucket of paint' argument. Poor Mandy. So misunderstood. She should just have been arrested at the start of the first episode and that could have been the end of her.

Oh god yes, I loathed her from the screechy and yet curiously deep voiced 'I could kill you with my shoe' - fuxache!

I'm not usually bothered about "What was s/he in before?" esp US series as I know so few. Was watching Babylon5 the other day and there was a young girl who was bothering me as I couldn't figure out where I had actually seen her before. Turns out she was Winnie in The Wonder Years. That particular line of googling intensive research also revealed she was Elsie Snuffin, Will's (totally superfluous) step-sister!

Hence the unusual subconscious "bothering" - all roads lead to TWW

I'm back on S1. Mandy (hold your ire/fire ) talks about the upcoming trip to California and the fundraiser to be held by Larry Posner. Only when they go to LA, Ted Marcus hosts it. Can't imagine they'd reference 2 on the same trip. Not sure why I mentioned that, just seems odd.

Sad news. The actress who played Mrs Landingham died. She was 72.

Was just about to post the same - such sad news about Kathryn Joosten. Mrs Landingham was a legend.

Just watched the Reunion clip -

I loved Mrs L denying people biscuits arbitrarily. And that scene where she talked about hating Christmas and then going to funeral with Toby... RIP Mrs L

at the tweet. I wept buckets a few months ago on the train at the funeral of the homeless guy episode and it was all because of Mrs L... She was a brilliant character in the WW and I still feel grumpy about her being killed off at the end of s.2 seemingly so they could set up 2 Cathedrals as the big finale.

I just watched the end of Series 3, poor CJ.

Also, I never really understood why hiring Charlie got Fiderer fired? Can anyone explain it?

I hadn't realised - how sad. We've started a re-run and I watched the Toby/Funeral/Korean Vet episode a couple of nights ago and welled up at her tale of her twins. She was so great.

Charlie got Fiderer fired because the son of someone influential had been lined up for the job, and she over-ruled someone to put Charlie forward. I think.

I've been reading tweets about Mrs Landingham and someone said:
"If anyone in the DC area tonight could leave a flower at 18th & Potomac, I'd be much obliged. Good night and thank you, Mrs. Landingham."
And now there's a lump in my throat.
