All new glitterball-y thread just in time for the semis Smile

If I recall correctly Craig gave Harry a 9 because he didn't quite get his fleckle right and his head needed to be more to the right [picky]

notyummy · 12/12/2011 08:09

Petisa - you can over all holier than thou about people judging Chelsee, but the fact is that it is a reality TV competition and it has a LARGE element of whether people like you or not. Yes, Chelsee is a great dancer and she doesn't seem like a nasty person, but I am amazed about her apparent inability to comprehend adult conversation. I just hope it is in a act. It might be endearing at 16, but its a bit shocking for someone in their 20s.

And lets face it, re-reading the posts on here about Jason, Nancy, Lulu etc, we've hardly been all about judging the dancing only have we?

notyummy · 12/12/2011 08:10

come over.

My predictions for the Final: all 3 couples will get at least one score of 40. It's predictable, and a huge shame, 40 should be reserved for perfection only and there have been very few perfect dances across all 9 series. [grouch]

Bossybritches22 · 12/12/2011 08:22

Santa I agree, Craig may be stingy with his 10's, & Len is not much better but at least you know it's been earned.

WhoIsThatMaskedWoman · 12/12/2011 08:39

Two words to that Bossy - Lisa Snowdon.

yesbutnobut · 12/12/2011 09:16

Very annoying during Sunday's results show that the audience were encouraged to clap and cheer for Vincent and Flavia during Military Wives, plus the camera focused on them. Why did they introduce Gareth and MW if they were only to be used as a backing track for V/F (whom I love, BTW, I just don't like the way they've introduced all this inappropriate audience reaction)?

As for Jason, I'm finding I can hardly bear to look at him never mind listen to that droning voice ('We're having fun' - oh yeah?)

Finallygotaroundtoit · 12/12/2011 09:18

The right result.

I was Xmas Hmm at Alex's legs akimbo lift - Dirty Dancing it was not.

That's such an iconic lift, to do it badly highlights the fact that you're not Patrick Swaze and What's her face.
And they showed it again in slo mo Xmas Shock

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 12/12/2011 10:34

The judges were in final mode a bit early this week! That paso of Chelsee's didn't look like a perfect 10 to me ? not strong enough shaping of the arms and hands, and she needed to pull up more through her centre. I'm sure she stumbled and forgot or hesitated on a couple of steps too. Her AS was gorgeous though, and showed real chemistry between her and Pasha.

Harry's Charleston was very well danced, as was his waltz, but I just don't feel anything when he dances.

Alex needed to go out. She had definitely reached her limit.

Loved Holly's AT ? wonderful choreography, gorgeous characterisation and I adored the quiet, subtle sexiness. She was just too knackered to do the Charleston justice though.

Jason's samba was total dad-at-a-wedding ? cringeworthy. Also thought his AT was WAY overmarked. Kristina did all the work (and was fabulous) and he stood about. Still not feeling any real connection between them. And his sex face at the beginning made me feel ill.

Loved Claudia and the judges on the results. I want to go out for cocktails with all of them!! (and Artem).

ScatterChristmasCheer · 12/12/2011 10:39

Artem's in the CeeBeebies panto this Friday, if you just can't wait until the final.

I'd be sticking apiece of masking tape over Jason's mouth and calling it a 'training aid' I think Grin. Kristina must be more patient than I am.

ScatterChristmasCheer · 12/12/2011 10:41

Finally, I think unfortunately that is a lift. James and Ola do it quite a bit, although she's almost in box splits when they do it.

Prolesworth · 12/12/2011 11:55

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but why weren't Alex and James penalised for having lifts in their salsa? I thought Craig had vowed to crack down on illegal lifts, and made a point of docking points from Brendan and Lulu (and others iirc?) earlier in the series.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 12/12/2011 12:00

Thanks, Scatter! He won't be in the final anyway, will he? Or do you mean in a pro dance?

Bossybritches22 · 12/12/2011 12:03

Yes I wondered about that Proles was it a straight salsa or a medley?

WITMW remind me what happened with Lisa Snowden? Smile

AvadventKalendar · 12/12/2011 12:19

Another who hates the snobbery about Chelsee.

She is who she is and doesn't pretend to be anything else, just a good honest girl who knows her failings and has worked hard to overcome the difficulties in her life - dyslexia, low self esteem issues in past, her father died when she was 5 while they were on holiday...

So what that she didn't understand what vertically-challenged meant? So what the she has a Manchester accent? Does it affect her dancing? NO!

Xmas Angry

[holier than thou and don't give a fig]

WhoIsThatMaskedWoman · 12/12/2011 12:29

What I was actually talking about was LS's three sets of 40 points for some frankly undistinguished dances. Craig's reputation has never quite recovered.

annaje · 12/12/2011 12:34

i find it interesting that a lot of people find Harry dull - for me Chelsee is very dull, I cannot find anything interesting about her when she dances - that Paso was boring and was no way a 40. Even my 2 DS's noticed that Harry congratulated Chelsee when they were upstairs with the wonderful 'Winkels' (as she is know in our house Grin) where as Chelsee went on about herself. I do like Pasha though - sweetie pie

SantasCave · 12/12/2011 12:35

I find there is usually one celeb that I just don't "get" each year. For one reason or another I find their dancing bland or uninspiring.

In the past it was Emma Bunton, Lisa Snowdon and, to a small extent Rachel Stevens. This year it is without a doubt Jason.

annaje · 12/12/2011 12:44

Santa - I agree about Jason, Lisa Snowdon - never liked Tom Chambers either (although realise I'm in a minority there). I really thought Matt Baker should have won last year - more exciting that Kara (although she was a beautiful dancer)

ScatterChristmasCheer · 12/12/2011 12:50

Proles and Bossy, they've changed it since previous series, You can now have lifts in anything that isn't one of the ten dances (foxtrot, quickstep, waltz, Viennese waltz, tango, samba, rumba, jive, cha cha cha and paso).

Ie. AT, salsa, Am Smooth, charleston are all fine, but that is different from previous series, where they weren't allowed in the salsa. I'm guessing Brendan and Lulu put one in a samba or cha cha cha.

Prolesworth · 12/12/2011 12:52

Thanks Scatter - that explains it. I think Brendan got told off for the lift in his rumba.

notyummy · 12/12/2011 12:59

See, I don't think it is snobbery not to 'get' Chelsee because she is vacuous. I don't think it means she can't dance - I like watching her dance. I just think she falls down massively on the personality side of the programme, which is undoubtedly part and parcel of the whole thing....or why else would they have so many interviews (or attempted ones in her case Wink), promos and only have 'famous' people in the first case? There are other people who where much worse dancers but seemed to have a bit more about them. Don't get me wrong - Chelsee completely deserves to be in the final, and must be in the top two. She is a lovely dancer - but it surely it is each to their own whether they think she has a 'personality' or not?

Anyway - will refrain from bitching about any of the celebs (or try to!) to avoid a bun fight Grin.
