Or if they really want to occasionally step away from traditional couples dancing they could do some more routines like this:

The main thing is that this is a programme about ballroom and latin dancing, so the pro dances should be ballroom and latin dances, not generic gyration - we can get that anywhere

Skillbo · 07/11/2011 21:24

Oh Scatter - that was just beautiful, such a lovely memory and so many of the old dancers that I loved!

Did anyone catch Lulu on ITT tonight - felt really bad for Brendon actually! When Zoe asked what was the best thing, she couldn't say anything nice at all and just went on and on about 'how I'm mad, me!!'... good riddance!

Loved Craig's snake hips Grin - and I think he MUST have been joking about the honour of sitting next to JG... I guess it made a nice change from grumpy Len so I think he was having fun as Deputy Dawg!

TheHumancatapult · 07/11/2011 21:28

never saw that before wow way she moves .

Maybe Ian waite should do bruces job , hes very caperable of adlibbing when needed

RedBlanket · 07/11/2011 21:38

Flavia is fantastic.

Its a crime Ian isn't on the main show. He's my absolute favourite.

WetAugust · 07/11/2011 21:39

AprilA1

I'm glad someone else loves that Argentine Tango too. It's the best professional dance ever.

TheHumancatapult · 08/11/2011 06:05

sign knew said was going miss brendan dancing but not want to se ehim at the expense of Artem after reading the news today about his back

Biscuitsandtea · 08/11/2011 07:11

What is the news on Artem's back?

Biscuitsandtea · 08/11/2011 07:16

News article here about Artem

Just did a quick google.....

TheHumancatapult · 08/11/2011 07:34

How on earth he danced Like he did on Saturday Shock

CaveMum · 08/11/2011 07:45

Zoe said on ITT last night that Artem was resting his back hoping to be ready for next Saturday. Brendan is going to train with Holly and will step in on Saturday if needed.

CeliaFate · 08/11/2011 07:46

OMG. Can't believe Artem danced with a fractured spine!!!
Also on ITT, Lulu and Brendan clearly dislike each other intensely - no video to camera after the show expressing their mutual love, Brendan's face was like a smacked arse, Lulu didn't even call him by his name! No love lost there!

CaveMum · 08/11/2011 07:53

Also agree that there was no love lost between Brendan and Lulu, but doesn't that show how much Brendan has grown over the years: previously he would have TOLD the world how he felt Grin. Does everyone remember his infamous "you must be crap in bed" comment to Fiona Philips?!

Fiderer · 08/11/2011 08:16

Anyone else think Craig was OTT on ITT (didya...? worthy of a brucie, that) last night?
Holly is a "brilliant brilliant dancer"
Anita is a "brilliant brilliant dancer"
Sitting next to JG was "brilliant" - mmh. She appeared in one dancing film and won the US SCD. Hardly elevates her to "brilliant". Tongue in cheek? Wouldn't surprise me.

He was v candid about Bruno not liking the fact that Craig was Deputy, and catty in general about him. Craig is my favourite judge, the Audley thing was embarrassing and so contrived but he goes along with such tosh with good humour.

Lulu is supremely self-absorbed. Never thought I'd feel sorry for Brendan.

That Flavia AT is stunning.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/11/2011 09:46

ScatterChasse, thanks so much for those links! They made me uber-nostalgic for lovely lovely Ian, Lilia, and the wonderful Karen. Sad

Hated women's pro dance on Sunday ? MTV music-video rubbish cos of Aliona's shite choreography.

I am horrified to read about Artem. What a pro to have danced at the weekend!

Lulu and Brendan clearly couldn't stand each other; it was embarrassingly plain to see.

Animation · 08/11/2011 09:48

"Lulu is supremely self-absorbed"

Hmmm - disappointing to see. Unattractive quality. Confused

Pan · 08/11/2011 11:06

Well Brendan's competition has taken a turn forthe better, albeit at Artem's cost. From Lulu to Holly.

OP posts:
ceebeegeebies · 08/11/2011 12:29

I bet Brendan can't believe his luck Wink

I heard somewhere that Lulu has been moaning that Brendan was too tall for her - having re-watched a clip of their dancing on Saturday, they seem perfectly suited height-wise Hmm Sour grapes much??

TigersChick · 08/11/2011 12:42

I've been a bit disappointed with the variety of pro dances this year. I don't remember there be many (if any) ballroom. That one that Scatter linked to last night was fantastic! Why can't there be more of a mixture? I know that the latin could be considered to have a wider appeal (more flesh on view perhaps Hmm) but the ballroom is amazing when it's done like that.

I hope that Artem is better soon - at least he's still able to go to training and do the choreography so Holly should benefit even if he is out Sad

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/11/2011 13:05

Agree! I can't remember a ballroom one either, and they are so impressive when they do a good one.

I can feel a 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' email to the Beeb coming on.

vmcd28 · 08/11/2011 13:19

EXCITED! Didnt know that about brendan and holly!

I havent had a chance to read the whole thread, but would NAYONE have recognised Jennifer Grey if they adnt said who she was? Confused

CaveMum · 08/11/2011 13:36

The thing is, although Latin has the "wow" factor, ballroom is far more complex to master. In Latin you can often cover things up by, as my teacher says, wiggling your backside! In ballroom there really is nowhere to hide - if your foot is in the wrong place or your alignment wrong it can be game over!

I think ballroom is something best experienced in person, rather than on the tv. Being able to see the rise and fall up close and hear the "swoosh" of shoes on the floor is unbeatable!

I'm trying to think of a good pro ballroom off the top of my head, but coming up blank at the moment!

vmcd28 · 08/11/2011 15:15

**ANYONE

CaveMum · 08/11/2011 15:52

We're going to need a new thread before Saturday!

I forgot to mention the professional dance from last year. It was very different, but still Tango and still so much better than the pole dancing type escapades of last weekend.

I can't find a good pro ballroom dance from SCD but what I can show you is just the most performed by the amazing Christopher Hawkins (former world champ) with his new partner Joanne Bolton (thought I believe they got married this year) at a dance congress a few years ago. Just goes to show you don't need all these lifts and faffing about to make a dance look good [sighs]

My teacher always cites Christopher Hawkins as the one that all male dancers should aspire to be.

At the absolute opposite end of the spectrum, in terms of razzle dazzle, you can't get better than Joanna Leunis and Michael Malitowski (who I referrenced in a previous post). Their on SCD a few years ago demonstrated why they were World Champions!
