Holy shit balls.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/12/2011 00:03

Thought tonight's was quite boring - complete waste of bullets at the end when shooting them all

NadiaWadia · 03/12/2011 00:38

Oh no - poor Carol and Sophia. How horrible. Did Herschel realise all the time that the little zombie in his barn was the girl they were searching for? I thought he was only keeping 'people' he knew in there?

EmmaRoyd · 03/12/2011 07:53

ooh I thought his one was a good one! But good point about the bullets Blondes, could have used the pickaxe. yuk. I was wondering which one was Herchels wife.

When shane said congratulations to Rick about the baby, did I hear Rick say 'you too'?

I wondered if Sofia had hidden in there and then got bitten, or if Herschel had rescued her out of the quicksand already as a zombie. Then I wondered if he knew it was the little girl they were looking for and was keeping it from them?

EmmaRoyd · 03/12/2011 07:54

I mean keeping the secret from them, not calling sofia an 'it'.

wintera · 03/12/2011 08:58

Apparently when the walking dead is shown is America they have a prog following it all about that episode. A bit like what we have with doctor who over here. Well I've just been on television without pity and they say on there that on the prog afterwards it was said that it was Otis who put Sophia in the barn after finding her in the woods. The others didn't know she was there as Otis never got the chance to fill them in on it. That would mean that Sophia must have been bitten pretty soon after going missing. I'm not sure that makes complete sense to be honest but that's what was said on there anyway.

Eggrules · 03/12/2011 20:46

I loved it. I need a break but mid Feb 2012 is too long away.

StealthPolarBear · 03/12/2011 23:46

I hate to admit it but I had some sympathy for shane. Dale burying guns, Rick agreeing to take the zombie for a little walk - could just see him thinking GET A GRIP! lost some symparthy when he handed the gun to the 8yo and told him to protecct his fully competent mother though

susiedaisy · 03/12/2011 23:50

Not seen the last episode yet have it on record ready to watch tomorrow! Smile

roundcornsilkvirgin · 04/12/2011 12:31

so will they move on now? They don't have to look for Sophia any more. Daryl won't know what to do with himself.

anonacfr · 04/12/2011 14:47

Stealth I get that the others are morons but what is Shane's bright idea to protect the group?
Gather them ALL by the barn. Give them guns without backup ammunition (bearing in mind most of them have just learnt how to shoot) and open the doors, not knowing how many walkers were actually in there!!!! Seriously that was the most idiotic plan ever. I can't believe Rick was the only one who tried to stop him. It wasn't about Herschel's wacky 'they're still people' theory -it was the lack of careful planning. Couldn't they have just burned the barn instead or something?

And so much for his 'big man' speech. When it came to killing a zombie he knew 'survivor' Shane shrank back like a little wimp and 'weak' Rick had to take over and do the deed.

And poor little Sophia walking out almost shyly out of the barn...

The rest of the episode, aside from Shane going Apocalypse Now, was rather bland. Maggie is awful and Lori has now turned into a brainless zombie shooter. Wasn't she supposed to be a smart lawyer?

And the Carol and Daryl thing was odd.

fantus · 04/12/2011 15:12

Ok, I have a question re Sophia. I missed most of the first series (gutted) so I'm not sure if it is obvious or not but don't the walkers eat the humans and anything else they manage to sink their teeth into? I'm thinking Otis and that poor horse in the first series. If so then doesn't that mean Sophia must have been bitten but still managed to get away before getting torn to shreds?

I agree Shane's plan was not exactly well thought through but I get his frustration - I would just want them all dead too!

Was Egg a bit more kick ass in the first series? I'm loving watching him in this.

Also (bit off tangent) but does anyone else dream about zombies? It is the one thing I have had nightmares about for years. Last week, after Lori announcing her pregnancy I must have been overthinking the whole how to survive with babies and dreamt I was trapped in a large warehouse with a group of people and 20mo DD. It was proving too difficult to clear the area of zombies while trying to protect her so we shut her in a room with plenty of food and water and somewhere to sleep and agreed to go back and get her once we had cleared an escape route. I remember being heartbroken in the dream at the thought of getting killed and not being able to go back for her and even after waking up I felt sick to my stomach all day just remembering it.

Eggrules · 04/12/2011 16:29

I have a Sophia question. Did Otis say he had something he needed to talk about? Who found her and put her in the barn. Why didn't Hershel/ others mention the missing person was in the barn and they didn't need to put themselves in danger.

Also - I agree with the sentiment 'when you go to the pharmacy/ shops grab EVERYTHING so you don't need to go back'

anonacfr · 04/12/2011 17:27

Fantus that's a horrible dream. Sad

The whole scenario about Sophia ending up in the barn is v dodgy. As it is we have to assume Herschel knew about it- in which case him not telling Carol is incredibly cruel.

Eggrules · 04/12/2011 17:43

I saw a picture of them all (including Sophia) on the porch. I was very shocked.

Bad Herschel!

fantus · 04/12/2011 17:55

anonacfc - I know. I have had lots more equally as disturbing, often involving family but sometimes on my own too. If I'm ever being chased in a dream it's usually by a bloody zombie. I've been caught a few times too.

Eggrules - where was the picture you saw? Do you mean before Egg and the gang arrived or with all of them? Confused

ZeldaUpNorth · 04/12/2011 20:01

I reckon they've killed Sofia off because she is getting older (as is Carl, so maybe he's next?) so its not in with the timeline.
They probably went on horse because its quieter?
I thought the CDC guy (can't remember his name) told Rick that Lori was pg when he whisperedto him? If it wasnt that-and judging by Ricks reaction it wasn't- then what was it?
Feb 2012??!! How will i last til then? Xmas Sad

Eggrules · 04/12/2011 20:17

fantus - picture was on TWD fb page. That made me convinced she was alive.

Eggrules · 04/12/2011 20:18

here

JKSLtd · 04/12/2011 20:53

I've stupidly read this thread before watching the episode, never mind. I will learn for next year.

On the getting rid of the zombies in the barn, given that Glenn & Maggie & the 'chicken-feeder lady' went into the hayloft (?) and came back out no problem, would it not be easier to go in that way and take them out from a point of safety? Silly people.

So what's with that FB photo then? Is it just a promo thing that has no basis in fact?

susiedaisy · 04/12/2011 20:58

Ok just watched last episode and I really enjoyed it, Herschel came across as a deluded old fool, can't understand where's he's coming from at all, I completely understand shanes frustration at being held back by rick and Herschel, pleased Glenn and maggie got together, Carl is annoying me and seems a pointless character tbh, thought Dale and shanes stand off over the guns was quite moving and could see both points of view, overall it was good, how many weeks til febGrin

Eggrules · 04/12/2011 21:02

JKSLtd - yep just a promo pic.

I like Dale.

anonacfr · 04/12/2011 22:55

Dale was much better this episode. I like that he guessed Shane shot Otis and Shane didn't even try to deny it.

JKS that's exactly what I meant about Shane being a psychotic idiot. Yes the walkers in the barn were dangerous and needed to be dealt with but his way actually endangered the group even more. They could have torched the barn, shot the zombies from above etc. There were many more sensible options.

Btw anyone else laughed their heads off when Glenn announced that those walkers were in the barn?
And how the he'll did Shane manage to find Dale so easily and so quickly?

somewherewest · 05/12/2011 12:15

Susiedaisy I can actually see where Herschel is coming from. I'm sure a lot of people in that situation would desperately want to believe that their family and friends could be cured, or at least wouldn't have the heart to shoot them. Remember the guy in the first episode who couldn't bring himself to shoot his wife? The last five minutes brought it out very well. Shane & Co had no scruples about blasting someone else's family, but when someone they knew came out they all hesitated and Rick had to take the shot.
