Starts tomorrow night at 10pm in case you didn't already know!

And the last episode of Season 1 is on before in case you need to remember what happened

OP posts:

Andrea and Dale right now would be a eeew couple. I can't remember what they were like in the first season but right now I see him as at best an overbearing father but more like a dirty old man.

He used to have a certain wisdom but now all he does is sit on the top of his RV obsessing about Andrea. He talks to/about her as if he ownsher and it is very creepy.

Is there the same age gap between them in the comic? I'm thinking of getting them- all the Twop geeks rave about them and keep going on about how the characters are so much cooler in the books. Is it worth it?

susiedaisy · 05/11/2011 23:50

Oh no Andrea and Dale ! Pass the sick bucket ! At the very best father daughter set up!

Melty · 06/11/2011 07:16

Countess They're somewhere near Atlanta.
I think they should get rid of the RV, and aquire one/four of the hundreds of broken down cars they seem to come across. As for where to go?
The world is over run with walkers, I think I'd find an isolated spot somewhere, (and fortify it!!!) within travelling distance of a big homebase/sainsburys type of place.
Plant food to eat, and survive on canned goods and wild stuff until the crops are ready. And there should be chickens! (unless its like bird flu and can cross species)

I am not exactly sure why the band of survivors are moving from place to place. Looking for more survivors? No one will trust anyone else. Strangers might steal the suplies, rape the women. And new people in a group changes the dynamics, can cause friction.
Looking for a cure? Well Jenner said CDC type places are all gone.
Depressing.

Eggrules · 06/11/2011 08:48

There is a big age group in the book. It seems to make more sense than it does on the show.

Apples and oranges with the show and book. There are some fairly big plot lines in the show that aren't in the book (yet?) . I couldn't resist because they were on the bookshelf. I love the suspense of the show and wish I could have waited (not in my nature Grin)

anonacfr · 06/11/2011 11:09

Melty after trying the CDC their plan is to get to Fort Benning, a military base somewhere in Georgia.
This was always the plan apparently until Rick convinced them to try CDC first after speaking to the dad in the first episode.

Eggrules · 06/11/2011 12:10

Age GAP tut

Melty · 06/11/2011 12:21

Yeah, I think I knew they were going somewhere like that. (Although forgot exactly where)
I just am not sure why they think they will be welcome. (Thinking of military bods shooting all and sundry in the hospital where Rick was.)
Joining another group means eating into all their supplies of sliced white bread. (Do we think the farm has a generator/solar power, -and why have none of our merry band asked. I mean, I'd be surprosed to say the least. They must have a huge freezer with many many frozen loaves. )

Ohhh, by the way I know a spoiler from the book about the farm. Don't know if it will be an actual event in the series though, but I would not feel all that welcome if I was Rick and just found out that there is blank blank blank in the blank blank.

Eggrules · 06/11/2011 12:28

I agree about the blanks melty Wink

Tortington · 06/11/2011 12:32

the thing that pisses me right off ..well there are two things

hot water in the shower

and sitting on the porch for deep and meaningfuls with the lights blaring.

for fucks sake

there wouldn't be any hot water

and you would be hiding inside with the fucking lights off

Tortington · 06/11/2011 12:33

also...

the editing is annoying me, it seems prolonged - just a second too long in some shots and it makes some episodes seem really drawn out

some episodes are just drawn out

i love the series though Grin

uniCorny · 06/11/2011 12:40

I am annoyed by the clothes that the women wear - the are always in tight/clean/ironed vests and that off the shoulder thing that Andrea wears makes me want to shake her. I like Daryl's vest though Wink

bigmouthstrikesagain · 06/11/2011 12:43

Just to jump in her as a new poster on the WD thread.

I really 'enjoyed' if that is the right word the first series.

So far though series two is irritating me - it started when the 12 yo girl was chased into the woods and her useless Mother just watched lamely and let Egg take the strain - then continues to act like a useless slappable lump. grrrr.

I really hope the action/ plotting/ cutting improves as I am struggling to maintain interest and I want to as it is literally the only thing DH and I watch together.

Jaquelinehyde · 06/11/2011 12:47

Does anyone know of anywhere I can watch the first 2 episodes as we have missed them! Didn't realise it was on FX and was waiting for it on 5!

susiedaisy · 06/11/2011 15:55

Yeah custardo that farm house has annoyed me right from the off, sooo not realistic, even if they had a quiet generator you would only put the odd light on now and then surely?? Angry

anonacfr · 06/11/2011 16:22

It's veeeery unrealistic. And dodgy.
I wonder what meat they used for the sandwich?

Btw I've heard v good things about American Horror Story which is due to beging on FX tomorrow. Shall we set up a new thread for it?

somewherewest · 06/11/2011 16:23

Sophia's mother's behaviour makes sense in the context of her back story. As a victim of abuse she's become used to being weak and passive.

Agreed the farm is highly improbable, too improbable in fact. I think they're hiding something (they certainly were in the comics).

uniCorny · 06/11/2011 16:28

what were they hiding in the comics?

susiedaisy · 06/11/2011 16:45

anon i keep seeing an American horror story being advertised, a new thread would be good idea, although if its too chilling, with demons and poltergists etc i may have to duck out, cant do paranormal things!

susiedaisy · 06/11/2011 16:48

i can see the probability of having a bread maker and having raided grocery stores for flour etc, and havin tinned meat around if you were savvy you could stock pile up enough for years, hoping to watch ep 3 again tonight when kids are in bed to lust after daryl give it some further thought!

Melty · 06/11/2011 17:01

I think its the perfectly square uniform slices, like tescos thick sliced white that has me going hmmmm.
Meat I wouldnt worry about. Pigs:ham cows:beef and I think its only been a month or so.
A big freezer would sort all that out. Which brings me back to the freezer. How is it still running? How long do those generators run for anyway? (do they run on Oil?)
Or maybe they have solar panels in the roof of the farmhouse.

ILovePonyo · 06/11/2011 19:41

The farm house is annoying me too - I want to know what the blank blank blank is Melty! (don't tell me!)

This has probably already been pointed out but surely the men would have big beards by now. And more annoying - the women would have bushy armpit hair. I noted that Lori does most certainly not have hairy armpits when watching episode 3 Angry

Melty · 06/11/2011 20:05

She has had it all lasered off before the Zombies hit. Im sure she had a brazilian lasered too. Grin
The men probably are shaving whenever they wash. trying to keep some civilisation going.

I've been reading the books. Im on 27.
Its kind of compulsive stuff.
All I can say is whooooah.

Tortington · 06/11/2011 20:54

i have watched three episodes of american horror story - and i am reserving judgement - its well made but i can't see where it's going watch out for gimp man though pmsl.

the music to it is strangely alluring

ILovePonyo · 06/11/2011 21:41

You're on book number 27 melty? How many are there?! Stupid Lori planning ahead for zombie apocalypse and getting lasered Hmm

[shck] at gimp man, the adverts for american horror story didn't really make me want to watch it, might give a go though as not much else on at the mo.

Melty · 06/11/2011 22:14

I think they're up to book 90 at the moment.
They publish one a month.
(I was joking by the way about the lasering!)
They are comic books, so don't really take that long to read. (Think the Marvel Superman type of comics. Only its for grown ups so they call it a "graphic novel" . Still a comic to me Grin
