They are dreadful, in an addictive cannot put it down OH MY GOD this is bad bad bad way.

Damon is fabulous in the books, of course, but the rest.

Bonnie is a drip and Elena is even more annoying than in tv series.

And Stefan, what is it with all that Lovely Love nonsense, Pa.

DameDe - I too have read the books. All of them! And I'm waiting for Phantoms to be released [shame]. I agree the only worthwhile character is Damon. And yes (vomit emoticon) re Stefan and his Lovely loves.

Caroline is just bizarre and I'm not sure the kitsune would transfer over to TV in a good way!!!! Not surprised they've fleshed out Klaus and the originals.

Team - I like the new name . Much better suited for this thread though you might get some complaints back on TSA .

The best character in the books is Meredith, and she doesn't make it to the screen.

I guess thats why they fleshed out the fabulous Carolyn and made Bonnie so much stronger than the trembling little birdy wirdy.

I also think Jenna had some of Merediths characteristics. And it was sooo wise of them to replace the 4 year old sister Margaret with the gorgeous older Jeremy.

I actually revise my former opinion.

I am reading Nightfall and after Stefan bogs off and Elena stops floating it becomes really good.

Switching Margaret for Jeremy was inspired. Jeremy has really come on as a character.

SciFiFan - I am confused : have been TeamDamon for ages and have never been on the TSA threads (the sparkly vampires take themselves waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously for me )

The sparkly ones are so Very Worthy aren't they.

Hello ladies.

I am a very very recent convert to all this vampire stuff and I have only seen the three twilight films so far. Five times each except the first one which I've sat through 8 times now . I can't help it. IT's the music and Edward. I love him. I don't care that he's young enough to be my son.

Anyway, Am I right in thinking that if I watched this here vampire diaries tonight I may get hooked on that instead? I take it it's a bit more grown up? Can I talk about it in public?

Welcome to our Vampire Thread! I am very excited because apart from the Wimbledon fortnight tennis thread, this is the pretty much first time I've been on a MN thread that I keep coming back to - I almost feel as if I might be in a MN quiche!

We are open to discussing all things fanged here: our main obsession is Damon Salvatore and we are probably the opposite of grown-up about him, but TVD itself definitely has a much more edgy, sexy vibe than Twilight. Basically, TVD, Buffy, Angel and True Blood all have one key ingredient that Twilight has crucially forgotten - a sense of humour, and that's one of the reasons we love 'em!

That and Damon Salvatore...

I felt ok fancying Damon Salvatore 2 months ago when I was 39, but now I'm 40, I started to feel like I maybe shouldn't or something. So glad I found others

He is just gorgeous. I've always loved that intense brooding look. He does it sooo well. Mix that up with a bad boy attitude and you have irresistable.

Oh and this series is really great. I'm looking forward to tonights episode.

I had to move on to someone younger as all the men I used to fancy look so old now. Harrison Ford, Michael Douglas even Brad Pitt is looking a bit aged and I really don't look my age!

Anyway, I think Ian looks like a young, sexier Rob Lowe.
