Strictly Come Dancing 2011

As all the other threads seem to have died off I thought I'd start a new one in anticipation of this Friday's first live show.

I have to say I'm not too bothered about the Celebs this year, but then again I'm more interested in watching the professionals anyway!

The line up for each of the two shows has been announced (from BBC website):

On Friday 30th September the couples performing for the first time on live television will be:

Then on Saturday 1st October the couples performing for the first time together will be:

?Chelsee
?Edwina
?Harry
?Holly
?Jason
?Nancy
?Rory

Please note the running order has yet to be confirmed. The celebrities have been listed above in alphabetical order.

They will dance either a Waltz or a Cha Cha Cha, but I'm not 100% sure who is doing what.

My overriding thought in the run up for the series so far has been "I hope the wardrobe department come up with some decent foundations for poor Chelsee!"
That outfit they've put her in for the promo shots makes her boobs look humungous

Anyone else care to share their thoughts in advance?

Please tell me i'm not alone in thinking Robbie Savage is hot?...

I suspect Robbie has had a quiet little word in his shell like, from Mrs Savage..and possibly from that big boxer who is MrRobbie'sDancePartnerJoe.....

bitemabum - I do like Robbie but I wouldn't say I think he's hot. Just can't explain why I like him as much as I do.

Watching the results show later but found the result last night.

Robbie is dancing with Ola, who is married to James.

It is Krystina (dancing with Jason D) who is dating boxer Joe Calzaghe.

He does seem a bit subdued. He's normally cheeky chappie mode, and more than a bit argumentative. Maybe he is grasping the enormity of it all. And not Ola.

Can't say am that bothered that Edwina has gone - thought Vincent was looking more than a little ropey tonight but am sad we don't get to see him do a bit more!

Nancy is a right state - "the judges got it wrong"... uhm, what bit? Yes, they were harsh but you were absolutely dreadful!

And sorry, but cannot wait to see Jason's tango (I think that's what he said he'd be doing!) - think Kristina being able to really show her skill is going to be very exciting

isn't Jason a bit..well..boring? Determined, serious, pretty much stand-offish.

But yes, looking forward to Kristina showing her skills..

Pan - I'm finding it hard to warm to Jason too.

yes LUP -it's supposed to be flirtatious fun, artistic, and hard work. I think Jason is missing out on 2 of those three.

I think Jason probably has had a lot of therapy in his time! Its part of his charm for me

NotJustClassic there is an amazing video on YouTube called something like "Spin Olympics", which is a group of drunk salsa dancers in a hotel room at a Salsa Congress in the USA. They're basically trying to out spin each other and it is amazing! They are solo spinning, half-drunk and on carpet, up to 8/9 times!

I'll see if I can find the link later this morning, I'm posting on my phone at the moment so can't do YouTube links!

Think we'll have some fun with Nancy staying in for a while, I wonder if Anton got some sympathy votes I thought Edwina would be better value tbh.

I also loved Len ignoring Aliona and telling Harry (?) all the technical dancy stuff he thought Aliona should work on. Bit waspish but I can't stand her.

Will Young was certainly channelling Kurt from Glee, yes! The quiff, the skinny trousers, the huge boat-like shoes. He was fab! Loved his little routine too, bless him. He's game.
Nancy is off her rocker, isn't she? The replay of the dance was more cringe worthy. Very inelegant, stompy and seemingly with no clue what she was supposed to be doing.
I LOVE CLAUDIA! Her shoes were A-Maz-ING!

Glad Nancy still in. Would like Anton to treat her with a bit of respect now rather than taking the piss out of her.

i'm not a huge fan of anton's but i'm sure he would love to partner up with someone who could dance and really make an assault on the competition. Am surprised none of the judges has mentioned the effect that her ridiculous shoes is having on her posture.

Right, I've found the salsa spinning video!

It is quite long (over 9 minutes) and was filmed on someone's phone by the look of things, but it is amazing to watch! Emily Alibi (the names of the competitors flash up on screen) is mesmeric - I wish I could spin like that

Won't miss Edwina but I do feel for Vincent and will miss him a bit.

Not surprised Audley was unpopular ? as someone said, probably not much crossover between boxing and Strictly and, I'm sorry, he was Not Good.

Ola has DEFINITELY been kicking Robbie's arse! He was excellent.

Pan, what was Nancy's comment about dancing with Anton?

CaveMum, I was wondering about the Strictly Showdancers too. We certainly haven't been introduced to them like we were last year. Maybe they'll start a bit later though, when there are fewer sleb dancers left and therefore more time to fill?

Is that for envy or for feeling sick after all the spinning Pan?
