Strictly Come Dancing 2011

As all the other threads seem to have died off I thought I'd start a new one in anticipation of this Friday's first live show.

I have to say I'm not too bothered about the Celebs this year, but then again I'm more interested in watching the professionals anyway!

The line up for each of the two shows has been announced (from BBC website):

On Friday 30th September the couples performing for the first time on live television will be:

?Alex
?Anita
?Audley
?Dan
?Lulu
?Robbie
?Russell

Then on Saturday 1st October the couples performing for the first time together will be:

?Chelsee
?Edwina
?Harry
?Holly
?Jason
?Nancy
?Rory

Please note the running order has yet to be confirmed. The celebrities have been listed above in alphabetical order.

They will dance either a Waltz or a Cha Cha Cha, but I'm not 100% sure who is doing what.

My overriding thought in the run up for the series so far has been "I hope the wardrobe department come up with some decent foundations for poor Chelsee!"
That outfit they've put her in for the promo shots makes her boobs look humungous Shock

Anyone else care to share their thoughts in advance?

Still, it begs the question were there no better female 'all rounders' available?

The men seem to be dumped pretty quickly - the lovely tall blond one can't remember his nameSad he came back briefly when someone was injured but got the boot again!

Finally, do you mean Ian aka my dream Gay Best Friend? I can't BELIEVE they got rid of him; he's a great teacher, funny and lovely. He does have a regular slot on this year's It Takes Two though.

Oh, or maybe you mean Matthew ... He's sweet too but no one gets close to Ian in my eyes. Grin

Oooh, I hope Karen stands in! I've always wanted to see her judging. And Len is a miserable git when Dancing With the Stars starts and he has to fly back and forth to the States. At least I'm assuming that's why he's taking the break ...

I'd said on anotehr thread that Nancy's main obstacle ( apart from her personality) is that she is the only one there who has never been 'directed' before. Popstars, footballers, actors etc have had to learn their craft under direction and know the value of critical feedback and 'team work'. Nancy has never had to do that in the manner needed for this show.

Her comment about dancing with Anton was truly absurd. She's gotta go.

Anton is too urbane and witty to go, tho' he didn't cover himself in glory over the race incident a couple of years ago. Stupid and ill-thought out.

Karen would be great, but she'll be harsh too! She's known for being tough on the competitive circuit!

Finally there are very few all-rounders in general. Most couples specialise in one style or the other, the exceptions being ten-dance competitors like Vincent and Flavia.

Lilia was judging on the Turkish SCD at one point!

Do we think they've got rid of their "professional showdancers" this year? We haven't seen them so far.

Just over half an hour to go to the results. I have had a very quick look on DS but could not find it.

I would LOVE Matthew to be a judge, or even Karen - she is so knowledgeable, though I did want to scream when she did her gurning dancing face.

Cd someone please fill me in on Craig#s gaffe. I think I may have been putting a child to bed and missed it.

I have Jason to win in my office sweepstake.I feel very lucky.

Would love to see any of the three judging in Len's place for a bit, esp Karen of course.

Edwina's 'rehearsal bit' this week was appalling "oooh, whatever would my husband say?" How about: "so are you going to cheat on me with Vincent like you did with John Major?" I'm sure Vincent went a little green around the gills at that remark.
