I think that Mary & the newspaper guy are well suited tbh.

We are in an older age group. Watched Upstairs Downstairs years ago. Giving Downton a miss. Bit it is obviously well done. And should get a big USA audience.

I love watching it, sunday nights need a big elaborate period drama
pointing out the very minor negatives is also very fun. tis interesting to get other Mnetter's takes on the characters.
those uniforms do add poundage, Thomas's back looked absolutely massive in a few scenes.

I only managed to watch the first two episodes of the first series - so it's even more disjointed for me now!

Mrs Bates was in The Commitments. Mustang Sally and all that....she can sing...

Mrs Bates was also in Corp agus Anam last year (as was I) and she is beautiful in RL, she is bilingual and has a lovely singing voice

I am warming to Mary. Sybil is the best sister though, i can't stand Edith
