Oh Jason! unbelievable to see him go out with Rob - as if there was any comparison to be made between them.

Nobody is really standing out though are they. Holly looks the most consistent.
Somewhat uninspiring lot this year. Producers were probably hoping Rob would pull it out of the bag but he didn't.

Gutted about Jason. Pastry obviously not his thing but he had flair.

DSes harrumphing now as 'there's only girls left' and DS1 has just roundly assured me that Holly isn't consistent 'remember her quiche'. He also fondly recalled Jason's pak choi quiche.

He's 9.

Am gutted that Jason is out, he was really good. Fair enough he had a terrible week, but if they're worried about consistency, Jo's had a lot more downs than ups.

Rob had to go though.

Agree, can't bear them kneading pastry with their rings on. Reminds me of the one from Two Fat Ladies with her ling red nails and her rings!

I think Holly has been fairly good throughout but she's a desperado (like Ben was), which doesn't appeal. I can see Marianne winning as she has more flair and takes lots of risks, whereas with Holly I always feel like she is studying for a test.

I want Mari Anne to win because she is original, her flavour combinations are fab and she will take a risk to make something fab. Holly seems more of a scientist than a baker with all her precision iykwim.

Does anybody else find Holly irritating? I know it's a competition, and the point of it is to win, but I find her a bit "overachieving" iyswim? I find myself tutting at her smuggy-smugathon-ness and then feeling guilty about it!

Cannot believe Jason went out! He has one off week and he's sacked - wtf? Others - almost all those left - have had one off week; also he's been top most. Seems a bit of an odd choice to get rid of him, Yasmin has been consistently low, and Janet only shone today.

And yes, Holly is indeed annoying. Anyone else noticed she has Keira Knightley's mouth? She seems a bit try hard, but not as bad as Ruth from last year.

OMG, you are right. She does have Keira Knightly's mouth!!! I mean in one respect baking is all about science, but in another respect, it is still an art in terms of flavour combos.

I think because we are in the last rounds and they are all pretty good (except Rob who should have been sent packing with his fringe at pastry week), they have to base it on that week only and they don't get credit for things done before, but a shame they had to let two go, as they could have done that next week, and kept Jason in as would have interesting to see what he would have done next. Sob...

Oh poor Jason - so unfair...I think MaryAnne should win -she is the most interesting and adventurous -and Janet for her jolly good naturedness.

The choux mountains are called pièces montées in french, not sure if there's a translation.
WTF was salty dog going on about plums not having any taste? My mum makes plum jam every year and it's some of the most fragrant jam I've ever eaten, he's clearly only ever eaten plums out of season from Tesco's IMO.

I've found a shitskit photo, now just need to get in from my camera into cyber space, which means going up into the office, turning the PC on, plugging the camera in etc etc it could take a while...

I'm ridiculously angry about Jason being kicked out. He ahd one bad week, he's pulled it off most of the rest of the time, even when he's admitted he's never even heard of what they're baking, never mind baked it. Total travesty. He woz robbed

Those mountain things are croquembouche and they were on one of the Masterchef variations not long ago

Jason going has really peed me off - if Rob had been judged the same way he has, he'd have been out the first week. Totally unfair. I couldn't see anyone standing out this week, they all made cock-ups, and he's had a lot more previous success than most of the others.

I don't see why Yasmin survived, no offence, but Jason is a stronger candidate overall, shurely?
