oh and aitch yes I get your fear of the fanny comment now Grin One running the whole way through the world, eh? Such a statement about the power of women to bring life to the world! Wink

OracleInaCoracle · 08/09/2011 22:17

What did jilly say when she saw the giant fanny?

OracleInaCoracle · 08/09/2011 22:17

I dont know what happened to Ester since she took Jack from the back of her car, but she seemed to have time for a facial and some highlights.

It was all a bit meh tonight. Not too shit but not great.

teejwood · 08/09/2011 22:29

I thought that about esther, too, voidka - and that certainly wasn't a scottish tan!

teejwood · 08/09/2011 22:32

darn it - I forgot to check the credits at the end - was it russell t davis doing the newsreader voiceover at the start, does anyone know?

PortBlacksandPort · 08/09/2011 22:56

Ok - two things ..... (only two?)

  1. Why couldn't Rex see it was the smug horse faced cow next to him masterminding the whole thing is he fucking stupid?
  1. When did Rhys go from being the amiable Torchwoodian to becoming the "better not leave Oswald with him because he will kill him even if i tell him not to and there's nothing i can do you see he is a Neanderthal"????? Thus rendering Rhys as little more than a plot device to get Oswald to go with them....crap!!!
Alibabaandthe80nappies · 08/09/2011 23:27

Why is it a giant fanny?? DH and I just looked at each other like this Confused

Best episode so far, I didn't MN through it like I have most of the others.

Pixel · 08/09/2011 23:33

I thought it was the best so far too. Bit late though.

If that hole goes right through the Earth wouldn't there be some steam or magma or something coming out of it?

Esther still annoying, her 'expert' input seems to be just googling everything. Grin

Loved the ramraid at the beginning, with the old man and the dog getting in on the act.

Voidka · 09/09/2011 07:01

Also, what good is Jack's blood going to be in a hot country in a briefcase? Isnt it going to go bad? Or at the very least start to smell??

HarrietJones · 09/09/2011 07:06

I've felt a few things on this were like Angel. Maybe the US side are trying to use it for ideas but not quite making it

Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 07:25

pixel bet she's not even googling, she's probably just looking through the mnet archives Wink

RustyBear · 09/09/2011 07:35

So if there's a hole going straight through the centre of the Earth, that has presumably been there quite a long time (at least before Christmas 2006) does it take a detour round the core to avoid the Racnoss ship which was built into the Earth when it was formed?

Digging/drilling to the centre of the Earth is a fairly popular concept in fiction, by now the Earth must be riddled with holes, in fact it'll probably fall apart if the Blessing is removed....

And both RTD's Doctor Who and Torchwood have always had echoes from Buffy/Angel, he's a Buffy fan.

PortBlacksandPort · 09/09/2011 08:02

"does it take a detour round the core to avoid the Racnoss ship" - Grin - genius!!!

....it's worrying that this is not the biggest inconsistency in the plot....

HarrietJones · 09/09/2011 08:45

Lol at the Racnoss ship!

teejwood · 09/09/2011 11:05

rusty rofl at detour round the racnoss ship! i also think sci-fi tends to have us living on swiss cheese rather than rock!

reality thanks for the reminder re angel. and spike? don't you mean cap'n john?! it wasn't just the plots rtd was pinching Wink

so we're agreed that rex took the esther thicko of the week award this week, oui?

whatkungfuthat · 09/09/2011 11:30

So are we thinking then that they used Jack's blood to locate the fanny and then used it to reverse things so that immortal blood becomes mortal and the other way round?

ScatterChasse · 09/09/2011 11:40

Better, but not fantastic. Although I did like Rhys's sound effects as he flipped the globe over.

And since when has blood rolling across the floor been a 'custom'? Confused

Dumbledoresgirl · 09/09/2011 11:47

Why was Esther collecting Jack's blood?

ExitPursuedByATroll · 09/09/2011 12:07

Shit - just searching on t'internet for some idea of what is going on in Torchwood and came across a review in the Telegrpah on line edition - started reading it and it is for the final episode, not the penultimate one. Aaargh - stopped reading as soon as I realised but now I know too much.....

teejwood · 09/09/2011 12:59

exit you know what the families do to people who know too much Shock

kungfu but how did they know about the fanny and/or locate it? they were based in ny as far as we know. i have an oh no convoluted plot alarm going off in my head....

and given that rose effectively changed jack's mortality by sprinkling pure time energy over a space station in the far distant future, the fanny being linked to jack's immortality would make no blinking sense.

dumbledore i think the idiot alert should be for esther rather than you - she figures that the answer somehow lies in jack's blood even though jack says there is nothing special about his blood. so she decides to collect lots of it. while he's mortal and recovering from a gunshot wound that became infected

teejwood · 09/09/2011 13:00

scatter rhys was v funny in that bit, yy Grin
