I'm confused - The Good Wife

Can someone explain to me the bit between Calinda and Blake and Will?

Did Will tell Blake to kneecap the witness - but only metaphorically and Blake did it - literally??

And Blake is trying to set up Calinda for it? And Calinda is trying to set Blake up for it?

See, I can totally see Peter using sex as a bartering tool. I think that at that point, Peter was an all powerful DA, popular, getting what he wanted. This was before the prostitute stuff, and who knows what else he has done. After all, he paid for sex. Repeatedly.

I get the impression that Kalinda likes hardly anyone. She is shocked that her friendship with Alicia has come so far - she never expected to like her, and she has a friendship with Cary. But aside from that, she rubs along with people in case she needs something from the. And Peter, well Peter is possibly the most selfish character on a television show I have ever seen.

JimJammum · 09/05/2011 18:36

Maybe Alicia leaves Peter, starts up with Will, Peter wins election and becomes SA and then has to continue the investigation into Lockhart/Gardner, specifically Will, who by then is shacked up with his wife. As "Good Wife" she will have to decide to stay with Will, whose dodgy dealings don't sit well with her moral compass, and Peter will have to decide whether to bring down the firm she works for, without seeming petty.

Phew! If this isn't the plot of season 3, then maybe the writers might like to use my ideas for a small fee?

northender · 14/05/2011 00:12

So what do we all think then? Lat night's episode was really building to the end of season cliffhanger. Looks like Michael J Fox may be a regular from now on. The last few episodes seem to have featured less and less of Peter yet he is central to the story atm. I'm loving it and not looking forward to weeks/months without it. Just the best thing on tv right now.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 14/05/2011 17:54

northender - it's because Chris Noth is only a guest start and they have only been able to get him for a few episodes - he is filming something else and only took the role ifit would be only a few episodes. I think that they manage quite well as it is, the story is about Alicia, not him. I think his absence is quite symbolic of their relationship.

However, there is a moment in an upcoming episode (have seen a few more) where he really should be in the show and they couldn't get him. There's this fade to black moment where you know that he should have been there and it's a bit shabby.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 14/05/2011 17:59

a guest star, obvs

northender · 19/05/2011 22:40

Pfft that makes so much more sense now. I take it it's the episode shown on More4 tonight that you meant where his absence was so obvious ie election night? That whole episode without him just wasn't right. The ending was great though, how many more episodes now. I'll miss it when it finishes, it's the highlight of my tv week.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 20/05/2011 09:10

yes! I thought it was pretty shoddy. To have a double like that - on an episode that he SHOULD be in. In an interview, the creators said that they could only have him for a certain amount of episodes and that there were more important ones following the election episode that they needed him in.

Listmaker · 20/05/2011 11:21

Just discovered this thread and love it as a big Good Wife fan too - not many of us around I find and I don't know why. Such a shame it's buried on More4!

Glad I'm not the only one to be slightly confused re the Kalinda/Blake thing. I thought I'd nodded off and missed something but even after watching the hotel/baseball bat scene again I still didn't really get it!

I like it that Cary has become nicer and is still in it (agree re his annoying voice though!).

Will's girlfriend has a MASSIVE forehead and the rest of her face is really small and squished - sorry that adds nothing but just an observation. Looks like she's staying around for a while then :(

PfftTheMagicDragon · 20/05/2011 18:34

LOL Listmaker - I call her "Fivehead" Grin

I hate Elizabeth Reaser with a passion. Don't imagine that she will be around next season tbh.

I think that the show is doing really well in the US, so no worried about cancellation.

NoelEdmondshair · 20/05/2011 18:48

Fivehead Grin - she really needs a fringe.

Will is starting to get on my nerves - becoming a bit of a slimeball.

Was this the last episode (the Election Night one)?

DontHassleTheBOF · 20/05/2011 18:57

What I wondered after last night, was why Alicia automatically assumed the rumour about the affair was true? Surely you would dismiss it out of hand, due to the friendship with Kalind, at least until you'd spoken to them yourself?

tablefor3 · 20/05/2011 21:50

Dont Because she knows Peter and she knows Kalinda. Plus Kalinda has been trying to talk to her for a while.

JimJammum that would be a brilliant next series!

DontHassleTheBOF · 20/05/2011 21:53

Hmm, maybe. Just call me BOF- the rest is my macho Friday night posturing Wink

JimJammum · 20/05/2011 22:02

Anyone seen the promo for the season finale? We've got a couple of weeks to go, but the end is there on You Tube if you're curious.....

NoelEdmondshair · 20/05/2011 22:04

I think Alicia might go and work for Michael J Fox. I would. If I were a hot shot attorney, of course. Which I'm not.

tribpot · 20/05/2011 22:05

Poor Elisabeth Reaser, did you see her in Grey's Anatomy when she genuinely had a hugely misshapen head for weeks after the ferry accident? Now her forehead looks relatively normal in comparison :)

As well as knowing Peter and Kalinda, you could factor in the Leela name, and the fact it was sworn testimony (at least according to Investigator Chappy).

I think America Ferrara could have been given something a bit more exciting to do than translate for Hugo Chavez and be all sweet and Betty-ish. I did find it amusing that all the Latinas correctly pronounced it Cha-vez and the other actors insisted on 'Sha-vez'. You would think someone could have pointed this out to them.

How does Alicia practice law if her husband's the State's Attorney? Presumably she needs to stay away from cases where there's a potential conflict of interest.

DontHassleTheBOF · 20/05/2011 22:11

Maybe she has do do a Cherie Booth and juggle? Grin

Bue · 20/05/2011 22:38

Ah, so we're not the only ones who call her Fivehead Grin. DH says it automatically everytime the poor woman comes on screen! The actress in incredibly grating, though.

JM was really good in that closing scene yesterday. I felt for her so much :(

tribpot · 20/05/2011 23:29

I did wonder how the woman with Officially The Best Apartment In the World (TM) is meant to be tempted back to the 'burbs. Just look at the cleaning (bill)!

You know who's more annoying than Will's girlfriend? Becca.

DontHassleTheBOF · 20/05/2011 23:33

I think Will's girlfriend should marry Peter and inherit his prissy mother. They both annoy me.

tribpot · 20/05/2011 23:37

And then they adopt Becca?

DontHassleTheBOF · 20/05/2011 23:55

I likee. And that conniving abortion-claiming girl.

partyhats · 20/05/2011 23:56

Why does everyone hate Peter..... I think he is lovely, much better than slimy Will or is that because I have always had a crush on Mr Big?

partyhats · 20/05/2011 23:57

It is also my tv highlight of the week and I think there are only about 3 more episodes left now, what will I do? does anyone know when the next series is on?

tribpot · 21/05/2011 00:06

Okay, the abortion-claiming girl is Becca. Zack's girlfriend.

Peter is a serial whore-shagger, he is not Mr Big in a new suit!
