Can someone explain to me the bit between Calinda and Blake and Will?

Did Will tell Blake to kneecap the witness - but only metaphorically and Blake did it - literally??

And Blake is trying to set up Calinda for it? And Calinda is trying to set Blake up for it?

Noel, yes he was Grin

Bit0fFunnyBunny · 15/04/2011 09:51

I thought he was just really impressed by her general competence and warmth. He'll feel like a shit if he gets her deported.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 15/04/2011 10:09

Yeah, because he likes her. Eli totally has a crush

oohlaalaa · 15/04/2011 14:31

ooooh, I love The Good Wife, it is my favourite programme on telly by far.

DH knows that he cannot talk to me during The Good Wife, and if I have not understood it, I watch it all over again on More4 + 1, as sometimes it falls into place on second viewing.

I fancy Peter Florrick, I know he is a terrible cheating husband, but so much sexier than Will. I'm always willing Alicia to get back with Peter. I'm a cr*p feminist.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 15/04/2011 18:19

It was interesting to get a glimpse into Eli's personal life at last, we have not known much about him so far.

I fancy Peter and Will Blush.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 23/04/2011 07:57

I also have a bit of a crush on Will Blush

Did you see that episode where they all came in on their days off and he was all casual in jeans.....yummy.

anonacfr · 23/04/2011 09:43

I agree Will is definitely better scruffy.

I quite like him all cocky and arrogant in court too.

llareggub · 23/04/2011 11:49

I think I have a growing crush on Eli rather than Will. I loved last night's episode. DIane is amazing. To be honest, I'd rather see more of her than Alicia.

NoelEdmondshair · 23/04/2011 16:29

Agree that Diane is a far better character than Alicia.

Does anyone else find Carey's voice annoying?

Bue · 23/04/2011 19:58

Carey bothered me last season but he is becoming more and more delicious (and likeable - I like the Kalinda-Carey relationship). But what was with that kiss??

Loved the boardroom scene - they had me fooled with the Julius deception! I presume we haven't seen the end of Bond.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 24/04/2011 10:22

Cary is really going through a bit of a character redemption arc I think. I can understand why he was so awful to Alicia, the way that she used her connections to keep the job - not that he would have done any differently, but he was the better candidate. I think that he will end up back at the firm long term, though it is very useful to have him at the DA office for the time being - adds another dimension away from LG.

I liked the Julius deception and the way that he said "I don't like you"... Grin

I missed last weeks episode, can someone precis what happened please? Blimey, the end of last nights episode, I for one didn't see that coming. I have had trouble enough following and trying to make sense of the Blake Kalinda story and now am trying to imagine what's going to happen next!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/04/2011 18:32

Me too, my Sky+ packed up and we had to reformat it and lost last weeks, haven't watched this weeks yet.

IloveJudgeJudy · 29/04/2011 23:41

I'm loving this series. I like series with a convoluted storyline that you have to watch each episode or you miss something important.

I won't say what happened WhoKnows, but i really didn't see it coming. Kalinda's a very interesting character. I also like the way they don't shy away from race issues.

I can't imagine what the series cliffhanger's going to be.

Bue · 06/05/2011 22:00

Can someone explain something to me - why did Kalinda change her identity? She kept getting phonecalls she wouldn't answer and there was something about running away from her husband, but it seems to have all come to nothing and we're now into the Peter/Kalinda thing. Even DH doesn't entirely understand what happened and he usually picks up all the information!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/05/2011 22:02

I'm up to date apart from last night's episode now but I feel as if I could do with watching the whole of this series again back to back to work it all out. Still a bit puzzled about all that Grand Jury business - what was that all about?

PfftTheMagicDragon · 07/05/2011 06:37

Bue - we don't know. I think that the Kalinda story is one of those slow running things. We very rarely find anything out about her, and the story will probably take its time.

The grand jury stuff is because the DA is investigating her.

tablewineisfine · 07/05/2011 11:44

I was wondering if Kalinda's husband might be a terrorist/someone with terrorist connections/otherwise a 'most wanted'.

I am LOVING TGW, I think it's my favourite show at the moment.

clangermum · 07/05/2011 13:10

The Peter/Kalinda thing is related to the Blake/Kalinda thing, as Blake not only found out about the husband and identity change (which I think Peter knows about? wasn't there a suggestion he employed Kalinda knowing about it and helped her along?) but also Blake guessed/found out that Peter and Kalinda had slept together. Maybe this was how/why he came to help her? Just guessing - I don't think they've said when it actually happened. And now Peter has to keep the guy at the DAs office on board because he has dirt on Peter - either the infidelity that Alicia doesn't know about, or maybe even the covering up of Kalinda's past? Great storyline.

And wasn't the grand jury stuff not actually about Kalinda - they were using it as a cover to get at Lockhart Gardner? Maybe because Childs wanted to get something on Peter by discrediting the firm Alicia works for? (I could be imagining this bit - I can't remember if they got to the bottom of the motive)

Carey definitely more likeable - more shades as time goes on. Couldn't stand him last season.

Caught a bit of East is East the other night and realised that the daughter was familiar - she's Kalinda (Archie Panjabi)! Wow! she's really grown up and toned up since then.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/05/2011 15:51

I can see I'm going to have to pay more attention. I'm loving it too, best US drama since ER for me.

Bue · 07/05/2011 18:09

I don't think we know yet why Childs is targeting the firm...

I think Peter wants to keep the DA on board because he knows about him and Kalinda. Both of them are clearly very, very worried about it. But I'm sure the guy knows other dodgy stuff as well!

Am so excited for election night in Chicago! Grin

PfftTheMagicDragon · 07/05/2011 19:19

I think that it's Will himself rather than the firm - I think that there have been foreshadowings that Will has dodgy dealings in the past. Kalinda's antics are more out in the open though, so an easy route into LG for Childs.

Peter wants to keep the guy at the DA's office onside as he knows about Peter and Kalinda. He removed pages from investigation notes so that Childs wouldn't find out about it (hedging his bets to keep a job when Peter gets in). He knows that Peter won't sack him whilst he has that knowledge.

I think that the Blake/Kalinda/Peter thing is very murky. Kalinda used to be someone else (though it is hard with the wibbling of AP's accent to tell whether she is supposed to be originally British or US/Canadian, so we can't know how far she has run). She was this person when she started at the DA's office, and then at some point changed her name.

It has all been messed up though by the badly thought out Kalinda/Blake story, which the writers thought would be this great UST thing, but has just been awful and fucked up.

My speculation about the Kalinda thing is this:

Kalinda was married (possibly arranged marriage). Either something happened to her (she lost a baby, she accidentally killed someone, her husband abused her), or possibly her family found out about her wavering sexuality and disowned her. She runs for it, wants to change her name. Along comes Peter - and he agrees to help her change her name and make her old identity go away, for a price (sex - because he is such a keeper).

PfftTheMagicDragon · 07/05/2011 19:20

ooh that was long Blush

Bue · 07/05/2011 21:13

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the insinuation of Will's dodgy dealings. That's probably it.

Haha Pffft that would totally explain it - Kalinda actually does turn out to be British and is putting on the US accent. Dodgy accent problem solved! (Bloody unlikely - I think AP just can't do accents.)

I'm with you on Kalinda's back story until the Peter thing. Peter is no saint but I can't possibly see him using sex as a bartering tool with an employee. I get the impression that he and Kalinda genuinely like each other or at least have some sort of mutual respect.
