darleneconnor · 28/03/2011 21:41

looks like she had other risk factors then, explains it

Sirzy · 28/03/2011 21:41

Giraffes - ye 2 are on CPAP, one is on a vent. Poor little things not the greatest start to life, lets hope they are fighters.

DS was on CPAP when he was 8 weeks old, its seeing little ones like that that makes me realise why they said he was big compared to babies normally using it!

MrsChemist · 28/03/2011 21:41

And that is the most expensive machine in the hospital! Aren't you lucky!

Ellie02 · 28/03/2011 21:41

Sparklyboots · 28/03/2011 21:41

Albrecht · 28/03/2011 21:42

ShowofHands Did they let him in with you? Have wondered if you can insist...

Pigleychez · 28/03/2011 21:42

Oh the MIL wipped that baby away pretty quick didnt she!? Shock

wrigglerstea · 28/03/2011 21:42

Decels during contractions are fairly normal and can be allowed to see what happens up to a certain point. Decels which persist after the end of a contraction are not normal and are an indication for immediate section and so, in a way even more so, are decels when a woman is not having contractions at all yet, as was the case here.

ShowOfHands · 28/03/2011 21:42

I had an emergency cs. I had to wait nearly 2hrs for an anaesthetist to turn up from the point it was decided. Different situation in some way but dd was showing early decels too. Emergency can mean lots of things. Booked elcs ladies who go into early labour become emcs when there's no 'emergency' about it though the cs is necessary. I think they just don't tell you everything on obem.

mumatron · 28/03/2011 21:42

Sparklyboots · 28/03/2011 21:43

MrsChemist · 28/03/2011 21:43

Is Gino just in NICU to go under the bililights?

ShowOfHands · 28/03/2011 21:43

Yes dh was allowed in with me. The midwife fought my corner. I was in a bit of a state.

littlewater · 28/03/2011 21:43

great name
don't understand why Gino had no scbu even though six weeks early? Is thats normal?

Albrecht · 28/03/2011 21:45

2 hours wait! No wonder.

whoops · 28/03/2011 21:45

I thought that too Nota

wrigglerstea · 28/03/2011 21:45

Can be if they're big enough and strong enough, but they monitor them pretty closely.

ShowOfHands · 28/03/2011 21:46

I'd been fully dilated for 8hrs, labouring for a couple of days. I was incoherent. I can't remember most of it tbh.

heather1980 · 28/03/2011 21:46

i think it's more to do with weight than gestation
i think babies over 5lb are usually ok

RitaMorgan · 28/03/2011 21:46

Gino looked pretty big and healthy.

WidowWadman · 28/03/2011 21:47

Just because an urgent CS is not a crash section it doesn't mean that it's not neccessary.

When my daughter was born there were a good 2 hours between decision and her being cut out, but there was no way that she ever had made it out the "normal" way.

It really gets on my tits when sections get poopooed as unneccessary, just because there's still time to prepare, when the decision is made in the best interest of the child.

NotaMopsa · 28/03/2011 21:48

MIL looks LOVELY!
