What do you think of this? And when does it start? Could you stand the wait over the summer, or is it a godsend?

We had the builders in and they bought a portaloo. DS2 was convinced it was a Tardis. It was all I could do to stop him wrenching the door open everytime we went past it.

Arcadie · 25/04/2011 22:30

Anyone else wondering about how similar a few of the plot devices are to the "Amy's Choice" episode from last series? Rory & Amy happily married until Dr shows up, Pregnant Amy, Much loved character Very Definitely Dead... Just wonderererered. Probably nothing, or a glitch in the matrix or summat.

Oh and I'm assuming that the fact those UGLY aliens are called Silence is what the "The Pandorica will open and Silence will fall" doom & gloom warning was about from last series.

MrsDeVere I'm in awe of your son. Good man.

Ripeberry · 25/04/2011 22:47

I would love to have one of those gardens with a doorway into another part of the garden through a brick wall. Now THAT would be crying out for a Tardis to be built in front of it!
Walk into the Tardis into a beautiful garden or even your veg plot! Grin

My FIL recently repainted the kitchen cupboards (again) and my DDs said "Look, it's blue like the Tardis!"

ds1's bedroom is on an angle, so you can't see how big the room is from the outside - you can only see the door. Dh has made the door into the Tardis - so it opens out into his bedroom. Is very clever, and he loves it! It really does feel like it is bigger on the inside!

thefirstMrsDeVere · 26/04/2011 10:34

That sounds brilliant! I have been meaning to do DS's bedroom door for ages now.

I think I am going to paint a big crack on the feature wall. I didint want to go too DR who in the bedroom because the colours are so dark. I have lots of framed pictures up but it needs more Whoifying.

I am thinking a crack in silver paint right across the wall. (it will have to be the EXACT right shape though, DS is very precise Grin )

ComeAlongPond · 26/04/2011 12:27

I thought that too, Arcadie, about Amy's Choice. Do you suppose she really is pregnant? I know lots of people think she's annoying but I think she's all right, and Rory is great - I don't want them to be written out!

Loving all the Doctor Who themed rooms... I suppose it's a bit sad to paint a Tardis on my own bedroom door, isn't it? It'll be years before I have a DC old enough! Maybe I'll go and accost my nieces - "Sorry darling, I know you're only a year old and you love Winnie the Pooh, but you're having a Doctor Who room now. This is a Tardis, and this here's a Dalek. Now pipe down, it isn't that scary..."

huffythethreadslayer · 26/04/2011 12:48

My dd had a dark blue bedroom, with Who curtains, bedding and a Who uplighter, but we made her have a cream band across the top, to stop it looking like the inside of a coffin. She then covered every bit of cream paint with Dr Who posters ranging from Ecclestone through to the final days of Tennant. She has grown out of this now, aged 10, and is now planning a 'grown up' bedroom. She won't get rid of her Dr Who magnets, though....she's keeping them for her nobo board and won't replace them with plain ones, grown up or not. I loved her Dr Who phase. Her current Harry Potter phase is quite good too but is thankfully being limited to trimmings, rather than specific bedroom colours. Not sure I could cope with red and gold paintwork:)

thefirstMrsDeVere · 26/04/2011 14:22

I suppose that is one good thing about Autism. DS has been into Dr Who since it re-started and shows no signs at all of slowing down. He will be one of those grown men we see at all the exhibitions, dragging their unwilling wives around Grin

Arcadie · 26/04/2011 14:35

Grin at Comealongpomd I am gratified that a PROPER who-fan thought so too!

EricNorthmansMistress · 26/04/2011 20:12

I'm just re-watching saturday's having missed the first ten minutes. I am properly confused Confused

LilyBolero · 26/04/2011 20:36

He'll be there with my ds1 MrsDeVere - ds1 is NT, but is utterly and completely obsessed. He knows EVERYTHING about DW, vintage and current day. Sitting in the car with him the other day he said "Shall I sing you all the Dr Who themes?" "What do you mean, ALL the Dr Who themes".

"William Hartnell.....(sings), Patrick Troughton....(sings), Jon Pertwee VERSION ONE etc etc etc.

You see some of them have more echoey sound effects, some are in different keys, some begin with the 'Doh-du-doh Doh-du-doh' rhythm, some with the NYEEEEEEEEE sound.....

And if you play him any of the versions he can tell you which doctor, which version, and which years.....

LilyBolero · 26/04/2011 20:38

Regarding Amy's pregnancy - I think the Silence/Silents may implant some sort of thought in people that makes them think they are pregnant, or possibly an actual pregnancy. Otherwise why did River suddenly feel nauseous?

The DreamLord - I wouldn't be suprised if he made a reappearance - he is a similar character to the Valeyard, from Trial of A Timelord - ie, part of the Dr himself - and so it could well be part of a longer story arc.

Arcadie · 27/04/2011 11:38

I remember the Valeyard. He was proper scary.

ComeAlongPond · 29/04/2011 18:52

Second part on tomorrow... do you think the dead doctor will be a one-episode thing or a whole series thing??

bullet234 · 29/04/2011 19:24

"I suppose that is one good thing about Autism. DS has been into Dr Who since it re-started and shows no signs at all of slowing down. He will be one of those grown men we see at all the exhibitions, dragging their unwilling wives around"
Some of us wives are perfectly capable of doing the dragging round ourselves Hmm.
(Although to be fair DH likes the show almost as much as I do, I just like the Classic Series better).

HarrietJones · 29/04/2011 19:48

I used to work in a special school. My lunch group turned into a doctor who session as all the lads gathered to gossip. V good for social skills as a lot of them didn't do conversation very often!

HarrietJones · 30/04/2011 13:23

Got houeeguests tonight , hoping they like Dr Who. Dh forgot to warn them!

HarrietJones · 30/04/2011 18:48

So?????

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 30/04/2011 18:58

I missed the first episode, watched this one and am confused as hell.

Can someone give me a short (is that even possible?) rundown of WTF is going on?

Ta muchly Grin

hugglymugly · 30/04/2011 19:11

Here's a long Grin rundown:
www.tv.com/doctor-who/the-impossible-astronaut-1/episode/1361489/recap.html?tag=episode_recap;recap

I'm not a particularly devoted or focussed Dr Who fan, but I loved the last and this episode. I did have a brief WTF? when they were building that inescapable room, because that just seemed a retread of the inescapable thingy the Doctor was trapped in before - but it wasn't the same kind of thing at all. I think Mr Moffat likes to confuse people. Wink

mumatron · 30/04/2011 19:13

no commentary tonight??

damn, i was hoping someone could help me get my head around whats going on.

is the girl a timelord? does that mean she's amy and the dr's child??

saggar i have watched both episodes and still struggling to get to grips with it, so probably best if i dont try to fill you in.

HarrietJones · 30/04/2011 19:28

River felt sick at the same time Amy did.

Amy was holding A baby it didn't say it was her baby.

Therefore I think it's Amy holding river+Doctors baby. Or we are going for baby swap a la Eastenders & MN will kidnap SM & force him to rewrite as all a dream & bring back David Tennant naked

JuicyLips · 30/04/2011 19:35

I ike your Idea HarrietJones about it not necessarily being Amy's baby. The Dr doing a scan on her and it going positive/negative confused me. I would like it to be River and The Dr's child. I want to watch the next one now goddamnit!

mumatron · 30/04/2011 19:36

oh i like that idea harriet i doubt it's the Dr and rivers baby, seemed to be implied that the kiss they shared would be the last so the baby would need to have been conceived before. Although I suppose anything is possible Confused

LilyBolero · 30/04/2011 19:39

nonono - not the last kiss - it's RIVER'S last kiss, as she is going in opposite direction to the doctor. So it's his first (of many), and therefore her last.
