"I'd rather die than be in a roomful of people with my logs up in the air like that"

And if I hadn't been in a room ful of people with my legs up in the air like that, both dd and I would be dead. It's an operating theatre not the local community centre. If your legs are up in stirrups, it's generally for a reason.

cinnamontam · 14/03/2011 21:46

Actually I think this thread has dragged me back in! Is the old May 07 thread still going? Where do you lurk most?

noeyedear · 14/03/2011 21:47

DH just came in after watcing footy- he's gone green so I have to switch over and catch up later- or he'll be the one in the corridor while I'm in labour!

londonone · 14/03/2011 21:47

lol @ local community centre, now that would be embarrassing

Sparklyboots · 14/03/2011 21:47

lol balloonslayer

darleneconnor · 14/03/2011 21:47

Then my hat goes off to you. Psychologically I couldnt cope. I'd want to grab one of those surgical instruments and end it all.

Liv77 · 14/03/2011 21:47

I'm glad I had the Forceps and ventouse as opposed to an emergency C-section which would have been the next step. DC2 is due in 2 weeks and given the choice i'd do the same again if I had too.

FriggFRIGG · 14/03/2011 21:47

good luck noeyedear Smile

missmiss · 14/03/2011 21:48

Liv - good! I thought I saw signs on the wall saying "Remember skin-to-skin", wondered why they hadn't given the baby straight to her.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 14/03/2011 21:48

I dont know about Cinnamon, but Im disgusted with some of the comments on this thread. Thankfully, I know how helpful and friendly MNers usually are, and that the narrow minded people are in the minority!

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 21:48

I haven't posted on the May 07 thread for a very long time. We tend to stay in touch on FB and via text/email. But there is a thread I think. You should resurrect it or start a new one. I'll come and catch up properly my Antipodean friend.

NotaMopsa · 14/03/2011 21:49

bit Helena B-C dont you think ? (Oakley)

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 21:49

But psychologically you do cope darlene. Because if the choice is live baby and stirrups or legs closed demurely, generally you opt for the live baby.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 14/03/2011 21:49

I was past caring. I was so frightened by the time the forceps came out I would have shown my fanjo in the street!

ZeroMinusZero · 14/03/2011 21:49

Epidurals don't always work very well, mine only partially worked and i was in a lot of pain and needed a lot of gas and air. 'twas very annoying to say the least

NotaMopsa · 14/03/2011 21:50

'awesome'
Hmm

ReshapeWhileDamp · 14/03/2011 21:50

Hmm at 'I can do whatever I like now'. Not for much longer love, I'm afraid.

FriggFRIGG · 14/03/2011 21:50

agrees with showofhands whole heartedly

sheeplikessleep · 14/03/2011 21:50

would be nice to see some of the earlier posters slating dave off retracting their comments. he seems to really be into her and quite considerate. that is far more important.

OrangeBernard · 14/03/2011 21:50

It looked like they had to resucsitate the baby

Imps7 · 14/03/2011 21:50

My god, Oakley and her OH must be exhausted. I really feel for them - keeping their humour though which is nice to see.

NotaMopsa · 14/03/2011 21:50

Poor lamb

SprungChicken · 14/03/2011 21:50

Darlene, I had my legs up with lots of people like that and I didn't care one bit!! It really wasn't something to get het up about.

QuickLookBusy · 14/03/2011 21:51

My DH didn't come into theatre when I had an ECS. He was completley traumatised by the whole experience, and I told him not to come in as I was being wheeled down to theatre.

The midwife said I had made the right decision, as she had spent many CS looking after a fainting DH rather than caring for the mum.

Ciske · 14/03/2011 21:51

I so want to believe Oakley's bf is gonna ditch the drugs and turn his life around, he does seem like a good guy at heart.
