LauraSmurf come to freestyle dance competitions any weekend all the girls have very dark spray tans and full make up, although have to say make up and tans banned on under 8's now.

BellaMagnificat · 25/01/2011 21:42

Oh snowbell under the dress!

GoAwaySnow · 25/01/2011 21:43

Bloody hell.

Tommy · 25/01/2011 21:43

a parasol.... omg

PictureThis · 25/01/2011 21:43

Smile @ the dog hiding under the dress

Valpollicella · 25/01/2011 21:43

Ah but like her mum says, she's prettier with it Hmm Sad

jenandberry · 25/01/2011 21:43

I do think, with regard to the weddings, that age is a big issue. I was very young and quite sheltered from the outside world when I got married. I therefore still had lots of almost "childhood" fantasies about my wedding. I had the big dress, lots of bridesmaids, the coach and horses, the tiara etc.

Would I have that wedding now in my 40s? Of course not.

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/01/2011 21:43

why do they want their 6 year olds to look like strippers? at holy communion??

BellaMagnificat · 25/01/2011 21:43

Again, think of the American child beauty comp comparison

LauraSmurf · 25/01/2011 21:44

I dont mind the dress up, but the spray tan is just too far. She is only 6!

BalloonSlayer · 25/01/2011 21:45

I don't believe that dress weighs 20 stone. I reckon the dressmakers just say that to make them feel special. It's made of tulle, not MDF!

MrsRhettButler · 25/01/2011 21:48

i know its the law and all that but i really don't see why they cant live on their own land in the way they want to

the mother looks like my leather sofa Hmm

LauraSmurf · 25/01/2011 21:48

It's so hard, because i do believe that tradition and cultures should be retained and protected. But at the same time if you don;t have planning permission you have to put things back to how you found them and start again. SPeaking from experience here. So laws are there for everyone to follow. Regardless of culture IMO.

MigratingCoconuts · 25/01/2011 21:48

Now that the serious bit is over...are we all looking forward to the wedding??

BalloonSlayer · 25/01/2011 21:49

And I thought Lily Savage was a caricature.

countless · 25/01/2011 21:49

ok naive question..if the travellers have bought a site why can they not build on it?? i see all sorts of daft dwellings erected on tv shows so what are they doing wrong?

LauraSmurf · 25/01/2011 21:50

Tick, tick, tick, tick, BOOM!!! goes the dress as the butterflies flap their wings and fly off with an explosion and land in mums odd looking hat!!

Choufleur · 25/01/2011 21:50

Can i just build a bloody great extension then without planning permission. Erm no.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 25/01/2011 21:50

I presume they are not seeking building permission.

MigratingCoconuts · 25/01/2011 21:50

They are not getting planning permission first

LauraSmurf · 25/01/2011 21:50

You must have planning permision! Thats the simple answer!

Mirage · 25/01/2011 21:50

jenandberry I'm finding your perspective on this programme very interesting.Do you think that the makers of this series have filmed only the extremes? I know that some Romanies are not happy that it is called 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding',as they say that Gypsies don't wear clothes or act like the people shown here.

EldonAve · 25/01/2011 21:50

usually it's land that's supposed to remain as fields eg greenbelt

Bexamundo · 25/01/2011 21:50

Mrs RB I think they just evict them on principle because they flout the law by building before they get planning permission. It'd be the same if I built in my back garden. I think the trouble is they think it's a slight against their culture, that it's personal when in these circumstances it's about them breaking the law. I think it's extreme though when they own the land. Trepassing is the real crime.
