They twist your arm to hurt you more and more until you give them a kiss... nice Sad

giraffesCantDirtyDance · 18/01/2011 21:14

So glad they mentioned that, people usually dont believe me when i say how ingrained it is in to life. And if you didnt know about that bit then believe me theres so much more you dont know about :(

juneybean · 18/01/2011 21:14

We had some girls at the nursery I was at last year, they're so beautiful, but their older sister left after year 6 and wasn't going to high school even though she wanted to :(

EricNorthmansMistress · 18/01/2011 21:15

Completely fascinating. I loved the last one and was impressed with how well it was done, not pointing and laughing at all, and it showed the positive elements of traveller life (family, community, identity) as well as the negative. It's so interesting because it's a culture that non travellers hardly know anything about, which is sad seeing as it's a british culture and we often live side by side with them. I must admit to having a prurient interest in the dresses Grin but I genuinely think from a sociological pov it's a fascinating culture.

LoopyLoopsIsNoLongerFestive · 18/01/2011 21:16

giraffes, what else?

stressheaderic · 18/01/2011 21:16

Agree with everything in Eric's post except for prurient as don't know what that means..

potplant · 18/01/2011 21:17

I think it's really fascinating their lifestyle is completely alien to me.

Tbh I love the dresses - perhaps I'm secretly an 8 year old girl :)

EricNorthmansMistress · 18/01/2011 21:17

ummmmm...nosy and inappropriate Grin

missy10 · 18/01/2011 21:18

omg that dress for a 7 years old

juneybean · 18/01/2011 21:18

Johnboy Grin

CaveMum · 18/01/2011 21:18

Oh she's tiny! How will she MOVE in that dress???!!!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/01/2011 21:19

Who wore that dress in Coming To America?

mathanxiety · 18/01/2011 21:19

Nicer to look at then to be there, I think. Hope Joan wasn't beaten black and blue by her fella.

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 18/01/2011 21:19

is that pink thing a bridesmaid dress? Shock

juneybean · 18/01/2011 21:19

Was it not the main girl at the end?

Hassled · 18/01/2011 21:19

I'm enjoying this - she seems lovely (the one getting married). I find the Gypsy community fascinating - have always wanted to know more about it.

I googled once re why there is always so much rubbish outside Gypsy caravans/houses, and apparently it's because they don't keep any rubbish inside. Which has a certain logic to it - makes perfect sense really. I wonder why a whole culture has developed where that's the case, when it's not anywhere else I can think of?

shivster1980 · 18/01/2011 21:20

I had an uncle Johnboy (deceased)

HarryDan · 18/01/2011 21:20

ohemgee Shock!

EricNorthmansMistress · 18/01/2011 21:20

First communion I think.

LoopyLoopsIsNoLongerFestive · 18/01/2011 21:20

Now that pink communion dress is just ridiculous.

missy10 · 18/01/2011 21:20

poor kid called baby doll

EricNorthmansMistress · 18/01/2011 21:21

Hassled - they don't have bins in Morocco, all rubbish gets collected several times a day in carrier bags and left outside until someone goes past the bins.

FanjolinaJolie · 18/01/2011 21:21

do they not legally have to be in school at age 11?

EricNorthmansMistress · 18/01/2011 21:22

They can be home educated...

juneybean · 18/01/2011 21:22

I'm not sure, there's a traveller support worker but keeps tabs on them all.... hmm
