Oh and I don't think she will be the one to finish Mitchell off either, it's far too obvious.

CrystalStair · 22/02/2011 12:00

My friend was in the caged fighting werewolf scene - one of the vamps in the crowd. When he's not doing that he's an air steward on Virgin.

Anyone else find Mitchell unbearably annoying. Terrible acting and his oily hair, greasy mittens and 'god I'm sexy' prowling about. Who did he shag to keep working? Awful.

CrystalStair · 22/02/2011 12:05

Hmm. George - love him but does overdo the hammy stuff a bit at the moment. Needs a stronger director maybe? Nina - getting to like her more having found her boring. Annie - very twee and tries SO HARD to be cute - yuck - much preferred her Sugar Rush character. Mitchell - words fail me. One of the worst actors around - can't see him as sexy at all because he is so self conscious and phoney. Herrick - great character. Mainly, I watch it for George.

coldcomfortHeart · 22/02/2011 13:22

Oh I love George too. Was weirdly sad and disappointed when I found out the actor was gay (??!! Why??!) but had to remind myself that he isn't really a werewolf either! Grin

What is 'Nina's accent in RL?

JessinAvalon · 22/02/2011 13:40

CrystalStair - I must respectfully disagree with you on Mitchell as I am totally and utterly in love and lust with Aidan Turner but I'm also happy that there's one less woman out there who is vying for his attention (and it seems that there are a lot).

Ok...I know I'm really sad but my ideal man til he ran off with Paula Yates was Michael Hutchence.

I think you can see the similarity!

CrystalStair · 22/02/2011 14:57

Nina's real life accent is quite strong Irish. Her English one is fab though. Maybe she has a parent with each and does the John Barrowman 'Hey I can be Scottish! Hey I can be American too!' thing.

Yep JessinAvalon - you can have Mitchell if you want him. A bit scrawny compared to Michael Hutchence. But then I am still mourning the loss of Richard Beckinsale whom I've loved since I was about 4.

MinnieBar · 22/02/2011 15:27

Oooh yes, I find Mitchell far too greasy too, don't see what all the fuss is about at all... but before you run away and ignore me, I'm new to this series and I have some questions too!

  1. How did George infect Nina - accidentally or on purpose? (or 'accidentally on purpose'?!)
  1. Right, this whole Box Tunnel Massacre thing. Did it get shown last series? If so, what pre-empted it? Did Mitchell just find himself unable to keep his blood lust in check or had something happened? And why did he kill everyone, surely one human would have been enough? (greedy boy)

Thanks...

JessinAvalon · 22/02/2011 16:33

I'm glad you asked those questions, Minnie. I've only really started watching this series so I was wondering the same.

I think some of you have to give poor Mitchell a break....he is undead and has been around for about 200 years. Plus he can't see himself in the mirror to do his hair or anything....!!

I do wonder how anyone cannot find Aidan Turner utterly gorgeous but then most people didn't get what I saw in Michael Hutchence either. I live in Bristol and had I known how in lust I'd be with Aidan T I'd've gone to watch the filming. Now they've moved to Cardiff....sob....

I'm quite glad that his attractions don't appeal to everyone. Life would be very dull if we all liked the same people.

Oh I liked him in that too. I thought the worst thing about him in that was the wig he had to wear!

Perhaps it's because he reminds me of my ex who had a similar look but with short hair. And was completely unbalanced. Shame as he was a very nice looking man.

I saw him in Desperate Romantics and fell completely in lust with him then. He was an utter bastard in that playing the almost psychopathic Rossetti. And he played him very well indeed.

5GoMadOnAZ650 · 22/02/2011 16:52
  1. If I remember rightly Nina got locked in Georges transformation cell in the basement of the hospital and he accidentally scratched her.
  1. A rather saucy vampire called Daisy I think, seduced Mitchel and they did the massacre together.
FluffyMuff · 22/02/2011 16:59

Last series was looking into Mitchell's past and 'where' he came from and how he came to be a vampire and his relationship with Herrick.

If it's on iPlayer I recommend you watch the last series. I don't think you'd have to watch series 1 unless you wanted to. The second series goes into detail that is being constantly referred to in this series.

I think Mitchell was having a hard time with staying off the blood, Daisy swayed him and he went all psycho. He killed all the people on the train because when he's in full Vamp flow he's an evil bastard! Grin

I don't normally go for the greasy look, but I'm loving Mitchell at the moment - have watched the other series and never thought anything of him though!!

coldcomfortHeart · 22/02/2011 19:21

Mitchell and Daisy also went all out because Daisy's husband was blown up at the undertakers (can't remember who by though!) and it was all very sad and unjust because he was a likeable vampire and as 'good' as they can be!

JessinAvalon · 22/02/2011 19:57

Mitchell sacrificed himself to vampires to save his men... What a man!

Mitchell's story

wintera · 22/02/2011 20:13

Yeah, Daisy's Husband Ivan was blown up and a lot of other vampires too and Mitchell discovered he had been betrayed by a human girl he was seeing called Lucy. This led to both Daisy and Mitchell going off on a rampage together. That's what led to the train carnage.

I normally find Mitchell very attractive but sometimes he just looks too unwashed and unkempt even for me. There was however 1 episode this series, think it was the one with the Zombie girl, and he looked the best I have ever seen him in that ep. If he looked like that every ep then I would be happy. But sometimes his hair just looks too damn greasey!

wintera · 22/02/2011 20:19

Here is Sinead Keenan's real accent --

CrystalStair · 22/02/2011 20:26

Ah now JessinAvalon - he does look rather good in THAT pic (your story link). But once the grease is flying off his hair he makes me feel a bit queasy. My auntie was nearly blown up at a crematorium. But she was actually fully dead already at the time.

FluffyMuff · 22/02/2011 20:45

Oh my god! She doesn't suit her Irish accent!!! (only because her English accent is so brilliant!)

This is just as shocking a revelation as the time I discovered that David Tennant is Scottish!!!

McDreamy · 22/02/2011 20:48

That's so not right!

CrystalStair · 22/02/2011 20:50

Wonder why she couldn't be Irish? I like her Irish accent. Wonder if the growling and howling is in English or Irish?

FluffyMuff · 22/02/2011 20:55

ha ha!

I wonder why they asked her to have an English accent too? Maybe it's because Mitchell is Irish? They wanted to remove any familiarity between the characters?

JackieNo · 25/02/2011 08:58

I wonder if the 'werewolf shaped bullet' is somehow going to be Nina's baby. Do you remember in Doctor Who, where David Tennant was 'killed' by Wilfred - he wasn't actually killed by him, DT sacrificed himself to save Wilfred. I don't think it's going to be as straightforward as a werewolf killing Mitchell. There'll be a twist.

nymphadora · 25/02/2011 10:00

Anyone seen Being Human US? Watched s trailer last night on YouTube.

plupedantic · 25/02/2011 12:37

Oh, that's a good one, JackieNo! I also think Mitchell needs redeeming. A bit like in the Harry Potter books: Snape was always a dead certainty for being killed off in the last book (I ought to have bet on it): it was the only way to deal with his character dramatically. He was either good or bad. If he was bad - yes, I suppose it would have been noble for Harry at al. to have let him live imprisoned, after he (Snape) had seen the ruin of all he schemed for. If he was good, well, the best and possibly only way to prove it (dramatically) was for him to die. Similarly with Mitchell, the only way to keep him "good" is to remove him finally from that narrow path he has been treading. If he removes himself, that will have far more dramatic and emotional impact than the "wolf-shaped bullet" (unless he exposes himself to the wolf).

I have been watching on the iplayer, in the portable devices download (the smaller file is downloaded faster! Wink), so I couldn't see the shape of the carving on the end of the stake Mitchell has been carrying about (from the McNairs' van), but is it a wolf's head? Having him offed with that stake would be a way of satisfying the "wolf-shaped bullet" prophecy even if Annie were to do it!
