That?s something everyone wants to know: How can Herrick come back to life after being torn limb-from-limb by George in season 1?
His head wasn?t cut off. He was just ripped apart. That?s why his body parts were put back together, whereas to kill a vampire I think the head has to be pulled off

so according to that link, mitchell could come back, as his head wasnt cut off?

EricNorthmansMistress · 17/03/2011 14:29

No there's no coming back from being staked.

WildhoodChunder · 17/03/2011 19:24

Yes, they were at pains to point that out in the last episode. Herrick survived because his head was ripped off, and he wasn't staked.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2011 19:55

Bugger :(

WildhoodChunder · 17/03/2011 20:32

Well, tbh I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way around it. They did also point out that the Edgar vampire was insulted by the comparison to Herrick, on whose authority it was given that vamps can't come back from staking, so we can assume the old ones are significantly more powerful. If there is any way to bring vampires back then the 'Old Ones' would probably know it and could bring him back. At least they can in the version in my head.

WildhoodChunder · 17/03/2011 20:46

Actually now I think about it - perhaps someone with a box set can confirm - in Series 1 when a vampire got staked, they turned to ash and got wafted away.

(Spoiler alert if you've not seen Series 1!!!
I can't find a clip on Youtube but I'm fairly sure when Lauren got staked, she crumbled and drifted away on the breeze?)

Yet in this series, when the vampires got staked they stayed fairly solid. (That being the case I have no idea how Mitchell disposed of Graham and Herrick's bodies, but never mind.) So hypothetically, there could be more to 'revive' if the writers so chose...? I imagine George and co would probably bury their friend somewhere if there was something resembling a 'body' to dispose of.

There you go Beeb writers, I've written you out of that hole nicely. :)

EricNorthmansMistress · 17/03/2011 20:52

Wildhood Confused Graham's and Herrick's bodies definitely dissipated.

WildhoodChunder · 18/03/2011 07:13

Did they? That would make more sense, but I thought they just stayed where, my mistake then. I've just deleted it in a fit of "pah" from the PVR too.

upyourdiva · 18/03/2011 09:53

Wildhood - the bodies faded and crumbled and I assume disintegrated so there will be no return... oh it hurts to write that about Mitchell and Herrick :(

I watched it for the fourth time last night (I have evil friends!)

Yet again I flinched and hid my eyes when Mitchell got staked but there were still A LOT of tears Blush:o

Aidan is in NZ for atleast 2 years filming the Hobbit thingy and in that time has only 6 weeks off Shock so commuting and timing would just not be possible in the short term anyway. I don't know why Herrick had to leave though, I guess it was just so that their story finished as it had begun. Together.

plupedantic · 19/03/2011 10:15

The first time Herrick was "finished off", there was a vacuum of evil, which was really the start of Mitchell's corruption (I mean his second corruption - not his initial corruption as a new vampire). And a righteous villain, who commits atrocities while pretending to be moral, is a very sinister and bloody villain, a bit like Robespierre. I guess that makes the Old One this revolution's Napoleon... This is going to get a bit farcical with any more iterations.

I think although BH is a great prgram it was to start a charming drama comedy but from Episode 3 it completely changed direction and has negated further away from the original concept each week it has been on.

I have been watching back from the beginning and reading the first book 'The Road' which reminded how funny it actually used to be before it turned into a vampire war.

No matter what they say Mitchell was the main character and has been from Day 1 so it will be hard to replace him but hopefully they can pull it off without going to Vampire V Werewolf.

Now that Mitchell has gone I would like to see a bit of the original appeal come back, it's been interesting watching him struggle with torment but now the most tortured soul is gone I think they could lighten up just a little.

I am hoping that tonight Becoming Human will somehow incorporate itself with the main show characters and Adam may well join forces with George and Nina.

I did find it a bit tactless last week though with Adam sayin 'I spoke to my man George about this'... I always thought you were supposed to view programs as real time?! If so George killed Mitchell then within minutes was on the phone to Adam giving him tips. And why did'nt George or Nina transform when Christa did?

JackieNo · 20/03/2011 20:58

Don't forget Becoming Human at 9 today, on BBC3 (I think - or is it BBC4?).

GColdtimer · 20/03/2011 21:28

Can I ask two questions from you BH afficianados. How do vampires survive when they don't feed? And how did Annie get a job in a pub?? These things have been bugging me!

plupedantic · 20/03/2011 21:53

I think Annie's pub job was cash in hand, so no need to prove identity (though a bit slack to let someone unknown that handle the till!).

I am really not sure what Mitchell has been living on. He seems to be able to drink alcohol and tea, so maybe he eats, too. I don't remember seeing George eating, either, but that doesn't mean he can't, or doesn't! Grin

upyourdiva · 20/03/2011 22:13

Twofalls- Mitchell has (had) a human appetite as well as the vampire hunger so he would eat food to sustain his human form but at times the vamire thirst would have to be quenched hence why he used to drink form blood packets when he was a hospital porter :o

Annie's job was cash in hand from someone she got friendly with and she even ended up witha boyfriend LOL.

She went in and out of visibility too which confused me but she could hide as/when needed.

upyourdiva · 20/03/2011 22:16

Oh and meant to say about Becoming Human I was quite dissappointed that there was no mention of Mitchell dying and them getting in amongst the BH main show.

I thought that Adam would be joining them for S4 so fingers crossed as he is pretty good (he's no Mitchell but I can deal with that) although now looks like he is sticking with the dismal Chista and Matt!

plupedantic · 20/03/2011 23:22

Ah, but when Lauren drank blood packets, it didn't do anything for her, did it? I thought it didn't do anything (rather than just not giving her a buzz). Hmmm.

upyourdiva · 21/03/2011 09:41

Plup - In the book Mitchell explains that it's not just the blood it's the thrill of killing so although it helps a bit, it does'nt fully surpress the hunger.

Basically Lauren did'nt want to give up killing so it did not work for her and in the end once Mitchell killed again it was useless.

plupedantic · 21/03/2011 12:34

Thanks, upyourdiva! I must say; I hadn't counted on there being a book; I didn't imagine it was a big enough/franchisey-enough production, to be like Star Wars/X Files/ StarTrek, etc.!

P.s. As for Adam, he has a limited shelf life as a character because, presumably the actor will age! Wink

Aims80 · 21/03/2011 16:02

Upyourdiva, they wouldn't have mentioned mitchell dying in Becoming Human as it was running concurrently with Being Human online, so it hadn't happened yet.

upyourdiva · 21/03/2011 19:10

Plupedantic yes there are 3 books (very good) with the same characters but different stories revolving around each character.

The 1st is Annie's book - The Road, 2nd is George - Chasers and 3rd is Mitchell's - Bad Blood.

I think they are set around the second series but the stories were never featured.

Aim oh I see I had been watching on the red button each week after episode 2 of the main show (I think that's when Adam left..) but yes I see what you mean now.
