Eastenders Baby Death Storyline

Once again, no one can live happily ever after Sad

Ronnie's baby James, dies and she puts his body in Kat and Alfies son's crib, and steals their baby boy, Tommy.

Why oh why oh why do scriptwriters insist on portraying bereaved parents - mothers especially - as mad and deranged??? Maybe it's because they can't begin to imagine how awful the death of a child is, but really, whilst we are mad with grief, it is our own child that we want back, not someone else's stolen child. When are scriptwriters ever going to understand that?

Still, it'll be a riveting watch, no doubt.

(not aimed at any MNers who are with us on this and are on DS) Grin

shabbapinkfrog · 11/01/2011 20:35

Katie I would be glad to PM you my full name and address.....wonder if the delightful person who is going to come and kick my head in is ready for a short, overweight, 54yr old mum of 4 sons (bereaved of 2 of them) who has been angered by this storyline....NO, I dont think so either!

Mouseface · 11/01/2011 20:35

It's just so farcical isn't it? Why insult Kat even more? Or us for that matter.

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 11/01/2011 20:37

How many 'near misses' will we be subjected to, I wonder? All credibility has gone, 'Stenders. Sad.

Mouseface · 11/01/2011 20:51

Go shabba

They can have mine too.

Katiekitty · 11/01/2011 20:55

Shabba and Mouse, I hope this isn't too flippant a reply, but I know who'd win in a stand off between DS and MN.

(that'd be MN, of course)

Newgolddream · 11/01/2011 20:55

Judging by the pictures Ive seen in the newspapers I think they cut out a scene with Kat walking holding the babys coffin.

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 11/01/2011 20:57

And wtf with Ronnie lurking in the cemetery behind a tree like a panto villain? Hmm It was so over the top it was laughable.

2shoes · 11/01/2011 20:57

so much for the boycott.

confuddledDOTcom · 11/01/2011 20:58

I'll give my contact details too, they'll enjoy making me the first on their list.... See if they can kick a bereaved disabled mother - they're more likely to get my crutch wrapped around their neck and the local lampost whilst the other one beats them whilst I gently explain the problem with the storyline

I just had this text from a teacher at my daughter's nursery:

Thought Eastenders was really crass 2nite. The baby?s funeral could?ve been handled very sensitively but it was spoilt by that supposedly ?funny? scene with Jodie & her friend ? totally inappropriate.

juneybean · 11/01/2011 20:59

And who the fuck is Poppy?!?!

PotPourri · 11/01/2011 21:05

Was the episode different in Scotland? My friend said Ronnie was talking to Tommy a
nd saying 'you know and I know Tommy'. And there was something at the end about planning for the funeral. No funeral though. And when she checked her freeview guide it's showing the funeral tomorrow...?

juneybean · 11/01/2011 21:10

Think that was Mondays?

PotPourri · 11/01/2011 21:12

weird. They must be running a day behind...

siouxsienusude · 11/01/2011 21:12

I would like to appologise, if my post offended.
Some of the words I chose were not nessasary.
Forgive me please.

shabbapinkfrog · 11/01/2011 21:13

2shoes I personally never said I was stopping watching EE......I came on one of the EE threads....was spoken to as if I was a pile of shite by several of the posters....and did a flounce....watch .

2shoes · 11/01/2011 21:14

my mistake, I thought there was a mass boycott.
I didn't watch it tonight as the thought of watching a babies funeral, real or not didn't appeal.

juneybean · 11/01/2011 21:16

Actually it was all the talk of the storyline that made me start watching it again :)

PotPourri · 11/01/2011 21:18

shabba lol. Not sure what happened last time, shame you were shouted at...

nevergoogledragonbutter · 11/01/2011 21:19

bbc scotland repeated last night's episode.
the funeral episode is on iplayer.
i'm very confused.

OracleInaCoracle · 11/01/2011 21:20

siouxsie, thank you for your apology.

2shoes, only some of us were boycotting. ive watched a couple of episodes, Im of the school where, if you dont know what you're talking about, dont speak. but i agree, a baby's funeral is not entertainment.

shabba, dont flounce, you are among friends now Grin

shabbapinkfrog · 11/01/2011 21:23

Oh Pot Pourri it was nasty bitchy trolling at its finest.....sat here like a loon and poured my heart out about my sons and then they took the piss micky.....had to go before my head exploded. Wouldn't have been a pretty sight Confused

shabbapinkfrog · 11/01/2011 21:24

That was my first MN flounce - it was very liberating Grin

OracleInaCoracle · 11/01/2011 21:29

shabs, Ive flounced a few times. but i always feel a bit dirty when i log back on. a bit like raiding the cake tin when im on a diet.
