Eastenders Baby Death Storyline

Once again, no one can live happily ever after Sad

Ronnie's baby James, dies and she puts his body in Kat and Alfies son's crib, and steals their baby boy, Tommy.

Why oh why oh why do scriptwriters insist on portraying bereaved parents - mothers especially - as mad and deranged??? Maybe it's because they can't begin to imagine how awful the death of a child is, but really, whilst we are mad with grief, it is our own child that we want back, not someone else's stolen child. When are scriptwriters ever going to understand that?

Still, it'll be a riveting watch, no doubt.

mouse, i know. from what ive seen, the performances have been brilliant. it just seems so sad to even contemplate it.

i had a really nice day thanks. met my lil sis and got some goodies (new shoes from £55-9) and a cake decorating kit that I cant stop raving about. how are you feeling now? still ill?

Mouseface · 11/01/2011 18:56

Ooooh - bargin!! We should go shopping if you can find deals like that! Grin

Still poorly, going off the boil. DD gave me a pad and pen so I can 'tell her' what I'm trying to rant about!

My head feels fuzzy so I'm sure it's making me sensitive about all this than normal, v weepy.

My mum is great at cakes, very creative. If I had the talent, I'd have a go but all my cakes end up as rock buns! Grin

deal Grin, they are lovely. re the cakes, I make great cakes but have all the artstic ability of a hippo, so the kits is an attempt to make some prettier cakes. although, for SIL's xmas party I make little christmas tree buns with "baubles" and stars decorating green piped icing. v pretty. until my nephew was left alone with them and he licked the icing off every cake.

sorry you are still feeling rough, it really knocks you around doesnt it? are you being taken care of?

Mouseface · 11/01/2011 19:19

No DH is at work still, home soon. I'm off to start dinner then bed early.

He is on the night shift with DS tonight, means I can rest properly and then DS's nurse is here tomorrow morning.

Routine.

See I can decorate cakes, used to be a florist and a make up artist so I love creative things..... just can't bake!

Even if I follow the recipe to the letter, cakes turn out wrong.

OracleInaCoracle · 11/01/2011 19:55

oh, well sleep well, hopefully you will feel better tomorrow.

between us, we could make the best cakes!

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 11/01/2011 19:58

OMFG she just gave him back Shock

Neon · 11/01/2011 20:00

Is that the end of it or is she going to take him back??

PDR · 11/01/2011 20:01

What just happened?! Have they re-written the storyline or is this another evil twist?! Surely Kat will now get a good look at the baby and realise he's Tommy?!

juneybean · 11/01/2011 20:01

The blurb and such make it sound like Ronnie actually confirms it's Tommy but I've just watched and all she's done is handed "James" to Kat?!

juneybean · 11/01/2011 20:02

Sorry I mean the blurb said "Ronnie makes a shocking revelation at the funeral" but I don't think she has?!

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 11/01/2011 20:02

Surely Kat will know. OMG, did they plan to resolve it this way all along?

Newgolddream · 11/01/2011 20:07

Sadly no, its the usual cliff hanger - so I would guess shes only giving the baby to Kat to hold because she turned her down the other day when Kat asked. I could be wrong (hopefully).

CazandBelle · 11/01/2011 20:07

Someone please explain whats happened?

alfiesmadmother · 11/01/2011 20:08

When KAt went round she wanted to hold him but Ronnie said no go away so now she is letting her hold him, that's all.

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 11/01/2011 20:08

So now we're expected to believe that Kat wouldn't know her own baby?

galwaygal · 11/01/2011 20:23

Looks like Kat will recognise the baby as hers and Alfie will snatch away saying how could she upset Kat like this,,,,, so despite me desperately hoping beyond hope that the BBC will have rewritten it from this point forward, I can't see it happening, they would not be so sensible would they?

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 11/01/2011 20:26

I really hope that this is some fast reshooting, and that this is the end of the storyline. On digital spy, there's a lot of talk about scenes being cut from the funeral.

Katiekitty · 11/01/2011 20:27

Some posters over on Digital Spy not so sympathetic. Just seen this post over there, forgive me for c&p here, it's not pleasant, have reported it:

"A brilliant episode RUINED by last minute filler shite. Shame on the BBC for crumbling at the feet of the people who complained.

If I could get my hands on the database with the names and addresses of the people who complained about this storyline, I would take a month off work, travel the country and very happily kick every single one of them in the face."

Mouseface · 11/01/2011 20:28

This is what I said about when Kat and Alfie went to say goodbye to Tommy in the hospital.

She really knew that the baby lying there wasn't Tommy. Gut wrenchingly so.

In her heart she knew it wasn't Tommy, as did the viewer, but because she is a grieving mother, it was all 'there there' 'such now' Hmm

How can the writers do that?

YOU WOULD KNOW YOUR OWN CHILD NO MATTER WHAT!

deemented · 11/01/2011 20:28

Apparently there will be a 'Warm and Tender' conclusion come spring... Hmm

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 11/01/2011 20:32

digital spy are NOT happy. I didnt watch it, but it seems that the whole episode had a cut together feel to it by what people said.

somehow though, i think this is another "challenging" twist. I am a member of DS but forgot my log in, otherwoise Id go over there and bang my head against their wall too Wink

Mouseface · 11/01/2011 20:32

Digital Spy is full of nice people Hmm

shabbapinkfrog · 11/01/2011 20:33

OK I promised myself I would not come back on here BUT.....

I just watched Eastenders Hmm Confused it was the weirdest thing I have ever seen. It was like having a dream with people in you knew really well and then two people came into it....the weird airhead who goes out with the car sales lad and her mate who I have never seen before on EE. The did a kind of shite 10 minutes comedy (???????) thing where they sounded like Catherine Tate....'Oh yeah well romantic, I said to him and he said to me' kind of thing - WTF??

If that was the re-written script then Gawd help any of the actors on there who have to act that out. really, really, really weird.

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 11/01/2011 20:33

My God, it's just implausability upon implausability. Kat was gazing at the baby. She would know. What total bollocks.
