Eastenders Baby Death Storyline

Once again, no one can live happily ever after Sad

Ronnie's baby James, dies and she puts his body in Kat and Alfies son's crib, and steals their baby boy, Tommy.

Why oh why oh why do scriptwriters insist on portraying bereaved parents - mothers especially - as mad and deranged??? Maybe it's because they can't begin to imagine how awful the death of a child is, but really, whilst we are mad with grief, it is our own child that we want back, not someone else's stolen child. When are scriptwriters ever going to understand that?

Still, it'll be a riveting watch, no doubt.

I swear Mouse 2 days off MN and I was practically kicking DH out the door to work at 12pm. Had he not been on a late I'd have been on here at 9am.

To yourself and Lissie and the poorlies - my sympathies.

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 12:48

Thanks for clarifying wannaBe Smile

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 12:49

thank you foofy Grin at you kicking dh out. my dh is in bed ill now, he's hurt his back lifting me while my ribs have been bad. ooops. Blush

wannaBe · 10/01/2011 13:01

yes, she said they were just actors in reference to the stories printed in the press. After she had confirmed that Shayne richie/jessie wallace are not quitting.

She also re-confirmed that the storyline will end in the spring with the baby being handed back.

deemented · 10/01/2011 13:02

It was always going to end then though, so that's nowt new.

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 13:03

im glad that shane ritchie and jessie wallace are staying, I like their characters and think they are really good actors.

FooffyShmoofer · 10/01/2011 13:27

Well, Just come back from the AIBU thread.

< Boggle eyed with shell shock >

Don't really know quite what to say about that. Some posters that I have had the utmost respect for have surprised me beyond anything.

and Censorship?

Isn't the general consensus if EE are going to a story like this then by all means do it JUST DO IT BETTER?

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 13:30

I've stayed away for the most part. Just replied to Justine's post.

FooffyShmoofer · 10/01/2011 13:41

Much appreciated Smile

I can feel myself getting narked and I refuse to get narked. It's so easy for focus to become shifted isn't it?

I am going to go and bump the FSIDS fundraising thread then off to wake my sleeping DD for round 2 of Potty training - the saga continues.

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 13:42

ive taken the same route as mouse.

Emjxxx · 10/01/2011 13:48

MsKLo · 10/01/2011 14:46

It's crazy isn't it fooffy?

On another note, did anyone watch The Wright Stuff this morning? A brave lady called Susan phoned in an shut all the censorship bleaters up with her story about her son who died of SIDS and how no woman who had gone though this and was holding her baby in her arma would EVER do the baby swap and how awful
That part was and how they could have handled it so well but chose not to

Why on earth did EE writers not talk to bereaved parents? Oh I know, because they didn't - an don't give a toss

That lady and the first two lady callers who phoned were so brave to share their stories

HereMeRoar · 10/01/2011 14:49

What's worse MsKLO is that they did apparently talk to bereaved parents Sad. FSID reportedly put them in touch with some who spoke with Jessie and Shane (Kat and Alfie). They just somehow didn't make the connection between what they were told about grief reactions and the behaviour of Ronnie, the bereaved mother Hmm.

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 15:09

HMR - personally, I thought Kat and Alfie were brilliant in their portrayal. Very hard for them to do I'm sure.

Emjxxx · 10/01/2011 15:51

I have to agree that (from what i've been told as i've not watched) Jessie and Shane have done a brilliant job in portraying Kat and Alfies anguish and grief.

So who is it at the BBC that MNHQ and Co. are meeting with? and when?

CazandBelle · 10/01/2011 15:57

John Yorke (Controller of Drama), Bryan Kirkwood (Executive Producer), and Lorraine Newman (Series Producer) - Weds at 11.30 at their offices in Elstree.

That is what Justine said on the other thread.

Not sure which MNetters are going with her yet though.

Emjxxx · 10/01/2011 16:05

Shock wow, the big guns hey, go MumsNet!

CazandBelle · 10/01/2011 16:13

It appears so. I'm looking forward to hearing how it went!

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 16:16

I'd like to be a fly on the wall.

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 16:30

Or actually, a Mouse under a chair! Grin

CazandBelle · 10/01/2011 16:31

Emjxxx · 10/01/2011 16:37
