Eastenders Baby Death Storyline

Once again, no one can live happily ever after Sad

Ronnie's baby James, dies and she puts his body in Kat and Alfies son's crib, and steals their baby boy, Tommy.

Why oh why oh why do scriptwriters insist on portraying bereaved parents - mothers especially - as mad and deranged??? Maybe it's because they can't begin to imagine how awful the death of a child is, but really, whilst we are mad with grief, it is our own child that we want back, not someone else's stolen child. When are scriptwriters ever going to understand that?

Still, it'll be a riveting watch, no doubt.

This poor poor woman. Susan from Befordshire you have my total and complete sympathy. I am so sorry that you have been through this and I comend you bravery sweetheart.

Just a fucking soap? Turn it off? Get over it?

That poor woman's children asked her if they were swapped for their dead baby brother.

Heartbreaking.

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 09:56

mrsdevere, think you just summed it up. was in tears listening to her. the poor, poor woman.

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 10/01/2011 09:56

That was very hard to hear, so unimaginable what it's like to live with. I so wanted to hug that poor woman :( I thought she was very brave and dignified.

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 09:59

me too chickens, I hope the producers were listening.

CazandBelle · 10/01/2011 10:00

What channel was this on? Have I missed it?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 10/01/2011 10:05

Channel 5 Caz. Its finished now but I have the feeling a few minds would have been changed by those brave women.

travellingwilbury · 10/01/2011 10:08

Wow , good on them for ringing in and explaining why this is so wrong .

Very hard to listen to but I am so thankful they rang in .

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 10/01/2011 10:09

When you hear the pain in someone's voice like that, it's much harder to dismiss the concerns being raised. The nuances of a voice can tell a much big story than the written word, I think.

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 10/01/2011 10:09

Bigger, sorry.

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 10:15

Im on the wright stuff page now on FB and one person has said "its just a soap"

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 10:16

Morning.

I'm ill too. lissie - was that cheese cake germ filled yesterday? Wink

Did't see the show but from what you have all written here, I'm so pleased there are women out there prepared to share their stories to try and educate EE why this storyline is so damaging.

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 10:21

lol mouse, it would appear so.

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 11:25

I've lost my voice so shouting at the BBC or EE is out for me today.

I'LL JUST HAVE TO TYPE IN CAPITALS!! Grin

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 12:01

pmsl, have just been shoutingf at sharon marshall. twonk. WE KNOW ITS JUST A STORY!

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 12:10

What did she say this time lissie?

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 12:12

just that she doesnt get the fuss, its only a story, they are only actors and its a shame that its spiralled out of control.

i loathe her.

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 12:18

Head.

Wall.

Bang.

Hers by the way Grin

Seriously though, it's no huge surprise coming from her.

You can bet your ass that if it was a story close to home for her, she'd have more to say!

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 12:24

oh yes! remember the fuss she made about her weight loss, and the way larger women were seen in the media?!

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 12:28

Yep!

Pot, kettle, black.

FooffyShmoofer · 10/01/2011 12:33

God you go away for two days and when you come back its all the same circles. Have said before and will say again

Fine maybe this will not be the start of a rash of bereaved women running out before their poor child is cold to swap for healthy baby over the road BUT

It is enough to plant the seed of doubt.

You might not think yourself racist until you think a racist thought

You might not think yourself an homophobe until you think a homophobic thought

and You may not be wary of a bereaved Mother until you see her with someone elses child and with Eastenders fresh in your mind you cant help but wonder is she going to 'do one' with this child. Thats where the damage lies.

Afternoon All Smile

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 12:36

Hey Fooffy Smile

FooffyShmoofer · 10/01/2011 12:37

And talking about Soaps once a week for 10 mins does not a journalist make.

I could do her job. They could pay me in Malteser Maxi Bags.

Mouseface · 10/01/2011 12:40

Arf Fooffy Grin on form I see!

wannaBe · 10/01/2011 12:43

actually that's not what sharon Marshall said at all. She was commenting on the fact that the media have been printing stories/comments making references to the actresses in EE, with comments/references to their private lives etc, and the fact that the press appear to have exagerated a lot of things i.e. that they have printed that shayne Richie/jessie wallace have quit etc which is categorically untrue.

And she said that she couldn't see why the press need to drag people's personal lives into this as they are only actors doing their job.

And she's right.

It had nothing to do with the storyline or saying that people were making a fuss about the storyline. Nothing at all. Hmm

OracleInaCoracle · 10/01/2011 12:47

wannabe, maybe i misheard, or maybe you did.Hmm she definately said that its a shame that people dont realise that they are just actors.
