Beatles week?

Lovecat · 19/11/2010 23:25

I like the Beatles. So ner.

But the song choices are v. pedestrian, if they're to be believed. The Beatles did far more interesting stuff than that selection.

And while we're at it, will Rebecca ever sing an uptempo song? I do love her voice but ballad after ballad after ballad...

Given that the only time Wagner's been intelligible and even vaguely in tune was when he did 'The Wonder of You', I think giving him 2 relatively fast songs in this week's mash up is bordering upon animal cruelty. I think they should have a William Shatner week, just for him (he could do his version of Common People, that might just about work).

(btw, none of them buggers is allowed to do In My Life, it being my fave ever Beatles song too...)

pippitysqueakity · 20/11/2010 03:44

One of the girls should sing 'Baby's in Black' without backing. Then we'd see (hear) if they really had a voice. Not those crap pedestrian choices they do every year. (Hoiks bosoms)

Sexonlegs · 20/11/2010 09:16

Another non Beatles fan here.

Think it's quite funny Katie has "Help" - she needs all she can get.

I am still in mourning after Aiden's eviction :( I loved him.

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 10:37

Just checking in for later. DH is away tonight so this thread will have my undivided attention Grin

Mouseface · 20/11/2010 11:26

Trouble is, they have to do songs that we all know. So the pedestrian songs get murdered time and again.

Look what happened when Treyc did an 'unknown' Led Zeppelin song.

Grin
celticlassie · 20/11/2010 11:35

The thing is - Katie clearly does not need all the help she can get - The only way she's going out is if she's in the bottom 2 against Cher.

(crosses fingers in desperate hope of being wrong)

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 20/11/2010 12:13

oooh maybe trhey will both end up in the bottom two and we will have a double eviction

HouseOfBamboo · 20/11/2010 12:17

Ooh yes, a double dumping of Katie and Cher, bliss.

[still bitter about Aidan Angry ]

MmeLindt · 20/11/2010 12:21

My DH is away as well do will have wine and chocolate at the ready tonight.

Hmm. Need good XF snack food. What could I get?

HouseOfBamboo · 20/11/2010 12:22

Green and Black's cherry is good, and goes very well with wine I find.

HouseOfBamboo · 20/11/2010 12:24

And cheese balls. You can never have enough cheese balls.

MmeLindt · 20/11/2010 12:42

Don't know where to get Green and Black, but I do live in Geneva so not short of chocolate options. Will have a look in town later.

Cheese balls are a kind of crisp?

UnquietDad · 20/11/2010 12:56

There is, to be fair, little that Cher could do to the already-dreadful "Imagine" that would actually make it any worse...

PotPourri · 20/11/2010 13:00

Unquietdad, I agree. Imagine is pants anyway, maybe a bit of rap will make it better...?

franke · 20/11/2010 13:14

Cheese balls are like Wotsits, but ball-shaped.

Can't believe that is my sole contribution to this thread.

MmeLindt · 20/11/2010 13:15

franke
Thank you kindly for the cheese ball explanation. :)

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 13:39

I will be ordering a Chinese takeaway for one. DH is away Thursday to Sunday and virtually the minute he left, my bad back flared up so I am hobbling around in undignified pain. The minute DS is asleep it's wine time for me.

HouseOfBamboo · 20/11/2010 14:16

Ah you can't beat a takeaway for X Factor night.

MmeLindt - not sure if cheese balls may be available in Geneva (it would be cheering if they were) - but here is what they look like:

Cheese Balls

Look for the ones with msg in, they are the best! Tesco have taken the msg out of theirs (spoilsports). So they are still good, but not as good as they could be.

MmeLindt · 20/11/2010 14:22

Am heading into town shortly so will look in Globus for the delicious cheese balls. :)

HouseOfBamboo · 20/11/2010 14:23

Good luck Grin The good ones taste better than they look, honest.

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 14:29

They also usually taste better than they smell Grin

franke · 20/11/2010 15:18

How funny, Globus is a DIY emporium where I am (Germany). Think I might go on a quest for cheese balls too...

MrsLucasNorth · 20/11/2010 15:28

Can't think of a less watchable combo tbh X Factor and The Beatles

(with the possible exception of Matt Cardle singing Come Together - like him, love the song, unlike pretty much anything else the Beatles ever produced)

hattymattie · 20/11/2010 15:31

I'm watching in France - nothing sophisticated to eat here (in my family not in France of course) - chili dorito's, wine and chocolate!!
We could maybe start a new thread - which country are you watching the X-Factor from!Smile

PortBlacksand · 20/11/2010 15:59

Marking my place and this week i am making sure i only have one tab open Grin Blush

Gutted Aiden went.

Love the Beatles.

Wish Rebecca would stop being so bloody dull despite her lovely voice.

Want some Cheeseballs now.....
