Thoughts? His 17 lives in our house for free as well as food paid for so what could this be?

Booze , cigarettes, drugs, condoms, sweets . He’s a teenager who likes to live on a budget maybe .

How do you know he does this ? Did he tell you or have you been prying into his private business?

Golfinches · 07/12/2020 22:17

Drugs...

ScrapThatThen · 07/12/2020 22:18

Debt?
Gambling?

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 07/12/2020 22:18

That's about the cost of an ounce of weed.

ScrapThatThen · 07/12/2020 22:18

Child support?

Weirdfan · 07/12/2020 22:20

Yep, I was thinking an ounce (of weed) too.

JetBlackSteed · 07/12/2020 22:20

Thinking positively, could he be budgeting for the month?
Only you know if he's a 17yo buying drugs or trying to manage his money.

Patooty · 07/12/2020 22:20

Does he use the remaining wages?
Or is that 180 used as his designated monthly spending money maybe?

CodenameVillanelle · 07/12/2020 22:20

Alcohol, travel, clothes, tobacco, weed, takeaways, all the usual stuff teenagers spend money on!

Baycob · 07/12/2020 22:21

I reckon weed. But it might just be petty cash ? Some places you still do need cash - nightclub entry, car wash ( mine anyway), puggy machines etc.

Just I have some cash I suppose. It's nice for teenagers to have cash, makes them look good infront of their friends who probably don't have that cash. It's not all bad. Hopefully he's a good boy :) x
Diverseduvet · 07/12/2020 22:22

Spending money for the month? Maybe hes created a budget for himself. Or hes just having a puff like others have suggested.

Baycob · 07/12/2020 22:23

Also if you have to split the bill with your friends it’s better to have cash and bus tickets! Where I am they only accept cash.

Or he might be putting into a savings account.

But how do you know ? I don’t really think you should be opening his bank statements!

Sparklingbrook · 07/12/2020 22:24

How do you know? I have an 18 year old but have no clue about any cash withdrawals he makes.
Is this a full time job or is that most of his pay?

Sweettea1 · 07/12/2020 22:30

If all he spends is that each month then well done him that would of last me a week at most at his age.

Nymeriastark1 · 07/12/2020 22:31

If he has a job and it's his own money he's earning why and how do you know this?

Sweettea1 · 07/12/2020 22:32

Why is everything quick to say weed surely a months supply along with cigarettes would cost more than that.

Ideasplease322 · 07/12/2020 22:36

Why do you need to know? Why can’t you ask him?

Sparklingbrook · 07/12/2020 22:39

Teenage boy. All teenage boys smoke weed/take drugs/ up to no good according to most on MN.
AfterSchoolWorry · 07/12/2020 22:40

Weed or coke.

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/12/2020 22:43

Hi Op
If your son lives with you and he works, get paid once a month

Why isn't he paying towards some thing towards the rent and other house Bills then?
(Surely he could pay a reasonable amount towards these essential bills

(It will obviously teach him life skills, value of money etc..

Happymum12345 · 07/12/2020 22:44

Have you asked him?

ScalpHelp · 07/12/2020 22:46

Surely you’d know if he smoked weed though.

Realistically it’s his money, why is this an issue? He could be using it to budget for the month, to put in a savings account, to pay for other things like clothes/perfume/driving lessons etc

Why are you snooping at his bank statements?

Mydogmylife · 07/12/2020 22:48

Not sure what your issue is, how do you know he does this?

providentglue · 07/12/2020 22:49

How do you know?
