16 year old dresses like a hooker

Not all the time but when she goes to parties and clubs (for the under 18s). I have no problems with her, she's doing really well at school, her friends seem ok and we can talk openly about most things. But when she goes on a big night out, everything is on display - tight, micro-short skirts and very low-cut tops. She's got a curvaceous figure and not much is left to the imagination.

She wants my opinion on what she wears and that's great but when she showed me her latest outfit I had to be honest and I told her she didn't look her usual classy self and I was concerned that she'd be attracting the wrong sort of attention. I know she wants my approval so maybe this is enough? Or should I be firmer and not allow her out unless she covers up more?

Are you her mother? Did you train her in how to dress appropriately?

Normal teenage behaviour. I need a microscope to see the clothes on dd when she goes out.

I still remember the horror I felt when my mum enthusiastically told my teenage self how sexy I looked it had the desired effect and I went straight upstairs to change from my leather mini skirt into my jeans clever mum.

OP, you probably have to have the complex chat with her about her being completely entitled to wear whatever she wanted but there are assholes out there who judge

My dd goes to a progressive high school where the only rule about clothes is you can't offend anyone or make them uncomfortable - removes nasty slogans (unlikely) and nudity (likely tbh). today I dropped my dd off (dressed for comfort like most of the kids) and I saw a girl walk to class wearing stockings and shorts, shorts so short that you can see the top of her stockings and her thigh above them. It was below well freezing today here. It was definitely not what you expected to see in math class - but no one is bothered.

Do you mean the media fetishised version of a hooker like julia roberts in pretty woman or do you mean jeans and trainers with as many layers as you can get hold of plus a coat (if you're lucky) on top because you're standing on streets and being chucked out of cars in the middle of nowhere and having to walk back to start again?

Yes I'm her mother and I spend my time in jeans! Snuffle I did think about using the word sexy and I know it would have the same effect on her! I'm also aware that if I told her not to wear stuff, that she'd change into it when she was out of the house.

she was very enthusiastic about it and even started dancing, saying it reminded her of feeling young and sexy. It was horrendous. Not suggesting it's the right way to handle the situation (I don't have a teenage daughter thank goodness) but it worked for me!

I bite my tongue with DD as its a phase I went through it. DD is in jeans and non revealing tops 99% of the time but her party outfits are extreme!

The hooker look is obligatory for teenagers and all things shall pass. Eventually she will get cold and feel ridiculous trussed up like a turkey.
They are just finding themselves.

A dog you can train. A teenager.....well no not really. You will have trained them before they hit the teens, then they go all crazy and do lots of tea stuff you trained them not to do, then they get sensible again and realise that your training was pretty much right all along.

That's how it's gone in my house anyhow.

The only practical thing I can suggest is showing her via photo on your phone what she looks like from behind when she bends down to pick something up

I think using hooker and your daughter in the same sentence is sad.

I think anyone saying teenage girls dress like hookers is horrible. It's incredibly derogatory.
