DS1 is 14 at the end of the week, ideas needed please .

He has already had his Birthday present. A laptop which cost a bit more than I would have liked but it's done now.

DH says no more spending but he would say that. But DS1 has nothing to open on the day.
What small things could I get to wrap?

Can you pup to cheap shops and get 14 presents?

Tesco Has chocolate orange for £1 at present.

Ooh, we have a Card factory in town I will go and look.

Are there any small bits he needs for school for next year? Not very exciting but you will have to get them anyway. Does he need a geometry tin for maths (about £2 I think)? A new pencil case? A certain calculator?

I will check with him monikar, he always needs something in that department.

I have a similar dilemma as DD will be 14 in a month and has already got her phone, but is obviously hoping for some more presents.... Girls are much easier to choose for than boys though!

DD is organising a joint partaaayyy with her mate - 10 girls for a sleepover here, I think I can't believe DH agreed to it - she caught him in a weak moment after her Parent's Eve!

I know it sounds awful Tilly but he doesn't want anything 'organised' and says they will be fine comandeering the living room and playing PS3/watching TV. then might go over the fields and play footy.

Shall I organise Pass the Parcel or something?

10 girls for a sleepover?

I reckon they'll be fine - DS did similar for his 12th birthday. Very easy for me!

I know! And she wants to do a spa-type thing. All I can think about is keeping the room safe and clean!

I worry a bit because DS1 is not a natural host and some of the lads are quite full on IYKWIM. I suppose I will just keep supplying the pop and crisps and ring for a pizza when instructed.

DH and i are not allowed to speak though.

14 year old boys will be more than happy left with the X box / playstation or DVDs to entertain them with access to an ample supply of snacks & drinks. No hosting required whatsoever.

In fact, most of the DSs' friends know where our snack cupboard is and have been helping themselves for years.

I hope so Death, I am used to one or two mates but not 5 of them. Just hope they all turn up now. He goes to a school 12 miles away so no walking round here.

What happened to the soft play parties with squash and party bags and Power Rangers?

It's all gone too fast.

DS is pretty lary, and so are most of his friends, but 5 is just about bearable!

I know Sparkling, I am missing those days when you could oversee everything and know that you could keep them safe

It's all very "Kevin and Perry" when they are that age. Parents are an embarrassment to their own teens and MUST NOT BE SEEN but all of their friends are really lovely & polite to you.

We used to leave the party kids downstairs with the food and drink out on the table and they would help themselves in between watching DVDs and playing xbox. They were very very loud.

I only came downstairs to open the door to parents arriving to collect as then I was only embarrassing for the minimum amount of time.

Just a thought - if DS and his mates are at the lynx stage, I would open all the windows in good time before they arrive.
