He has already had his Birthday present. A laptop which cost a bit more than I would have liked but it's done now.

DH says no more spending but he would say that. But DS1 has nothing to open on the day. Sad
What small things could I get to wrap?

My 14 year old drinks tea but would probably stick to pop if that's on offer.

I don't think so - this might be a bit 'un-cool' at a party even if they drink it in secret at home.

We have had the occasional teen to our house who doesn't drink fizzy - they would have squash or water.

Well I think I all set then. DS1 has refused to have a birthday cake (we are having one with Grandparents tomorrow) he doesn't want balloons or banners. Sad

So it's going to be very unbirthday partyish on Saturday. Just 5 friends round with food. Confused

I wish Ds1 would drink tea but he isn't interested.

Oh I know - it's sad when they don't want balloons and banners. No cake Sad

I know what you mean - to you it's not very celebratory, just a few friends playing xbox and eating a load of food, but for DS and his mates they will have a great time and talk about it for ages afterwards. They are probably revving up for it at school now...

Sounds like you've got it all covered!

I am hoping DD doesn't want balloons and banners either, but I know she will want the biggest, chocolatiest cake everSmile

She keeps telling me what "extra's" she would like for presents. She has just got her phone as an early birthday present FFS - does she think I'm made of money?!

Mmm, especially when they are 32GB media cards, fancy headphones and phone covers!

I have told her no way am I buying her a new bag - she has 33,000 already!

If he doesn't want a cake, could you make him a big pile of brownies instead? Bet his friends wouldn't say no.

Extras!

Sparkling Party bags were a real pain at the time and so expensive for so much tat, but I look back at them rather fondly now.

What sort of headphones are you after Tilly? I got some pink JVC ones in Tesco for DD for £3 which she is thrilled with - I think she thinks they were a lot more expensive than they were!

DD is after some fancy-schmancy ones. I offered her my old pink ones, but apparently they are no good. Worked fine for me in the gymConfused

Ooh yes Brownies Jesse, everyone would like those. Smile

Are they Beats ones or something Tilly? Dr Dre? They are ££££££££s.

Before my massive headphone investment I had offered DD a pair that I had got free with a phone - apparently they were no good either.

What about a key ring as a wee filler. DS and his mates have a retro craze for Sackboy at the moment?

I think I have even geekier boys, Sparkling. If DS got together with 5 mates they would either have a ukelele session or sit through (and jeer at) the Les Mis DVD.

'snot natural, I tell you.

lance, uke's are soooo cool - not geeky at all.

Card game called Magic is really popular here, ds was introduced to it by his maths teacher and spends hours playing it with his friends, it may even be supplanting Minecraft in his affections.

And although you were instructed about no cake - we did one anyway last year and he was secretly delighted, as were his pals who ate all the cake!
In Asda, you get the sparkler fountain candles which are really cool instead of normal candles.

Ah, OK, Tilly. I am clearly not at all down wiv da kids.

does the fact that DS coordinates his uke to his t-shirt make a difference here?

Ooh lots more things top think about.

I am actually having a cake wibble so pondering that. Need to investigate the card game.
