I’m getting my forearm blacked out tomorrow!

That’s it really! It’s currently a jumbled mess of a snake/ roses/ leaves but there’s no colour so it’s hard to distinguish what’s going on and I’ve never really liked it so I’m getting the whole arm between elbow and hand blacked out.

never had black out before, has anyone else? Seen it on other people (mostly cool guys in bands tho 😂)

It’s gonna be a 4 hour session 😬

Absolutely not too late, I’m 32!

Definitely not too late! I got my first as my 40th birthday present to myself and planning my second now, 5 years later. I'm probably the least likely tattoo candidate you'd find (absolute norm-core 😂) but I love my water colour. I think your new tattoo is really striking OP, and the way the skull comes through and the edge at your wrist is really nicely done. It wouldn't be for me but it's great you're happy with it. Enjoy and I hope it heals easily!

Thanks that’s really kind of you 😊

What is it about tattooed women that make people on mumsnet feel insecure? Let's face it, that's the issue behind the nasty, shitty comments.

Thank you for sharing the photos, the skull looks amazing!

Cocolapew · 12/02/2023 00:16

That looks great I love the edges and the skull, happy healing!
I have 7 tattoos and they are all in the underside of my arms, of course people can see them. I do actually move my arms about as I'm sure the op does.

FairyBatman · 12/02/2023 07:15

It looks amazing, love the skull peeping through and the edges. It’s really nice. Glad you love it and thanks for coming back with pics, I love that you ended up trending! 😂

ememem84 · 12/02/2023 07:51

Wow! I kind of like the skull just peeping through!

it’s not something I’d consider for myself but I love it!

I’ve just had another small one done. On my hand. Which DH thinks is crazy because al of mine are hands and arms where “people can see them” or more correctly “where I can see them”

this is my latest. I’m desperate to scratch it as it heals and it’s only small. I dread to think what the healing on yours will be like @desperatehousewife21 🤣

I’m getting my forearm blacked out tomorrow!
SlashBeef · 12/02/2023 08:03

Dammit I really like it and I wasn't expecting to! Nice job OP 😆

desperatehousewife21 · 12/02/2023 08:08

That’s a cool one @ememem84 ! The itching stage is not gonna be fun! It’s currently at the ‘tight’ stage right now so can’t straighten my arm very well and I can’t lower it below my hips because the blood rushes down and it throbs!

Haha thanks @SlashBeef 😂

I’ve never had a trending thread before- it got wild! Was amusing though 😄

I’ll keep the thread updated with healing progress.

Nice work OP! And good on you for laughing off all the ridiculous dick posts from saddo's 😂

My latest one done last weekend is currently itching like a bastard!

desperatehousewife21 · 12/02/2023 08:52

You gotta laugh. Poor little sheltered souls 😆
got a pic @kingofchaos ?

But that wasn't the point you made and that I was responding to.

I would obviously have responded differently had you spoken about the dangers of tattoos (very tiny tbh) as opposed to just saying 'but what if you don't like it when you are 90' which is a ridiculous reason not to do anything

Am still talking about the aesthetics. If op said she was training to climb Mount Everest, my thoughts would be very different. We aren’t all the same. That makes neither of us incorrect. Just different. Having had several necessary major surgeries, with the longest being a 12 inch scar which is still healing over 2 years later, perhaps I see things differently but quite frankly I wouldn’t mess around with my body unless needed. I have also had a few of adverse reactions to prescription meds, which have been devastating to my health. But that wasn’t my point as I imagine op has used a reputable tattoo artist with experience in black work, risk assessed being inked, infection and so forth.

In which case perhaps the tattoo board isn't for you? Seems a bit odd to come to this board specifically to tell people they shouldn't get tattoos because they might not like them when they are older?

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/02/2023 09:50

I didn’t tell op not to get the tattoo and I see it’s way cooler than I imagined with the skull. I always planned / thought I would get one after having kids actually but poor health changed things for me. The point is op had this one to cover up previous work, which she no longer liked. I was really asking what happens in the future if she has similar feelings. But that point is moot now. Normally I wouldn’t comment on this board but it was trending and I thought it was a valid question to ask and I have in no way been disrespectful to anyone on the board, unlike some posters.

kingofchaos · 12/02/2023 10:09

@ConfusedNT tedious isn't it?

🙄

TimeToFlyNow · 12/02/2023 11:45

I had a barbed wire round my arm covered up a few years ago, I was just going to get it redone but decided it was a bit dated and ended up with something that goes from my elbow up to my shoulder, never thought I'd have something so big but I love it

Tattoos are for sailors and crims.

Not anymore, I find it’s basic, Home Counties white bread girls who are the most tatted now in an attempt to cultivate a personality or distinguish themselves from all the other identikit girls they grow up with. Thankfully I grew up in a diverse part of London so stood out enough as it was without needing to get inked!

MissWings · 12/02/2023 13:55

There's something very insular about the posters who assume everyone is from the UK...

Awwww this is pretty cute actually, trying to sound insulting and bigging yourself up at the same time, but failing to accomplish either.
