Boden Sale, what are you keeping and what are you sending back?

Keeping - Mauve boyfriend cardigan, I like it. Its not a boyfriend length on me but it does cover my arse!!! Spotty cropped favourite cardigan in navy, I always like their cropped cardis and this one looks better than I thought it would. Patent buckle belt well, I would never have paid full price for it but it was cheap and will be handy.

Going back - Lilac/pink washed lined blazer, absolutely horrific, do not buy!! The colour is neither here nor there and the shape is like a square box. Its just wrong!!! Summer scarfs both the patterned and plain, people actually pay £40/50 for these flimsy bits of nothing?? the colours are gaudy too. River Island does much nicer ones for a third of the price.

Thats my sale buying. Now for the post office......

I think that would be ok - dd1 is a 6/8 and a Johnnie B Small fitted her perfectly.

kittya · 22/07/2010 00:28

the sizes for that range are strange. The cotton dress in small fit my nine year old niece, the extra small fits her six year old sister!!

I have ordered the embroidered shirt dress and am a size 10, hoping it comes today (and hoping it fits & looks ok - I ordered large)

dottyaboutstripes · 22/07/2010 09:55

Oh - and am 40 so do feel a bit funny buying from a "teen" range!

Belle03 · 22/07/2010 11:16

Still not sure about the high heeled purple shoes with bows, really like them but will I wear them? they're quite high, could just look at them... Opinions please!

toucancancan · 22/07/2010 12:48

dotty let me know whether it fits. I was thinking of ordering it too.

toucancancan · 22/07/2010 12:50

Belle they are truly gorgeous. Have you got any weddings coming up that you could wear them to?

deckeng · 22/07/2010 13:15

Not sure if this it is very relevant - but am sure I just saw an article on the breakfast news about the large number of mail order companies breaking the law by charging for returns. If you return within 7 days - they should not charge. Can't remember the legal stuff - was in 'get to school' mode - but someone legal might know - or you could google. I missed the sale - or at least anything I liked in my size/colour so will hold judgement till Autumn

treedelivery · 22/07/2010 13:32

Hello

Has anyone ordered the wideleg trousers, or the stripey Henley in kntwear?

Just wondering about fit really, I haven't any return labels so I could do with getting it right first time!

Got all excited on my break at work, at 4am there was lots of extra stock online. Then at 9pm that night, when I could buy it, it had all gone!

These straightleg trousers for £19, are they a sizer upper or a sizer downer?

tulpe · 22/07/2010 14:16

dotty and Toucancan - I have the dress in a Large. I am usually an 8 but am currently a 10 due to post-op swelling. It certainly wouldn't drown me as an 8 though.

Hope you like it

toucancancan · 22/07/2010 14:54

OOoh thanks for that tulpe. I'm a 10 but have a bit of a mum tum. Do you think the dress is baggy in the right places and would hide that?

tulpe · 22/07/2010 20:44

yes, Toucan will hide all manner of mum tum and other mid-riff/bottom/hip related issues . It's actually a lot looser and more A-line than it appears on the photos. It has a belt at the back to tighten the fit of the dress - sits level with the bottom of my shoulder blades. Once my tummy is healed, I may well wear with a belt for a more fitted look but it looks great as is too.

I have worn mine today with cropped navy leggings and a bright cornflower blue vest beneath (the stripes are more cornflower than navy, imo). Looks fab and very comfy

SerendipityAlways · 23/07/2010 10:21

Just got the colourblock dress yesterday in purple/hibiscus - its a real winner and I love it and at £39 it will definitely be a keeper! Particularly delighted as it was initially sold out but then I managed to snaffle a return!

kittya · 23/07/2010 11:00

I gave in have just bought the statement satchel as it has come back in. I wouldve like some wedges but Im not sure about the fit so, if any of you can advise me that would be great!!! The patent striped tote seems like a real bargain but Im wondering if it will look too plasticy?

Kittya - Re shoes sizes, the boden shoes tend to be on the narrow fit, so if you're any way wide fitting beware! I have had to return gorgeous pumps in the past due to their narrow fit and subsequent wear and tear at the sides! Loving this sale, hopefully there might be further reductions over the weekend!?!

treedelivery · 23/07/2010 11:19

DO you think there will be? I ordered last night, dispatched today.

I hope there are discounts, but only on the things I didn't buy

kittya · 23/07/2010 11:19

the childrens stuff has really been reduced but, they can have too much!! I always size up in shoes but the high sandels fasten around the back of the ankle and I hate that!! its the thinnest part of me. I know theres no point in me ordering any, even though they look really lovely. I needed a bag for during the day so Ive ordered two so I can choose, as if thats going to work!!

dottyaboutstripes · 23/07/2010 12:37

Well my Johnnie B dress came and it's enormous. I popped it on and my 14 yr old said it looked awful - and sadly I have to agree. Ah well, at least I tried!

domesticsluttery · 23/07/2010 18:16

Has anyone got a Textured Notch Neck?

I fancy it to go with this skirt (which I bought with 25% off at the weekend), I need the top to be long enough to hide my tummy but not so long that it looks odd with a skirt.

Belle03 · 24/07/2010 10:43

Thanks Toucan yes the purple shoes are really really lovely but I have sent them back as I can't justify them...can feel my halo appearing!

Maryqueenofchocs · 25/07/2010 12:47

I have just received this striped skirt and its bloomin gorgeous. I'm a 14-16 and it makes me look vair slim...gok says stripes across do indeed make you slimmer and he's right!

Very pleased, may order another....

kittya · 25/07/2010 20:41

I bought that months ago and it hung in my wardrobe. I loved it and it was flattering but I never, ever found anything to go with it. I was very lucky that they gave me a full refund. It is a lovely skirt.

Whoamireally · 25/07/2010 20:43

I have the purple Sassy Wedges and had to size up (I'm a pretty average size 6 and had to go for a 7). I find this pretty typical of Boden.

Have also just splashed out on a Hibiscus Statement Satchel - really wanted the gold one but aalllll gone!

Maryqueenofchocs · 25/07/2010 20:54

Kittya I bought the Navy one, so I was just going to wear it with a navy T and pumps....I thought the light blue and green may be difficult to co-ordinate..

kittya · 25/07/2010 21:21

are the wedges flimsy? Im not sure if they would anchor my feet in. I managed to get the gold satchel about four days ago. It must have been a return. The navy skirt does sound a safer bet. I did really like it but I knew when I hadnt worn it for 3 months, it had to go back.

Today, from the childrens range I sent back a pair of girls shorts and a mini skirt that barely covered the childs backside. Shes not a tall girl but I do find that their shorter range begs for leggings or footless tights but, who can afford to buy two items every time? and, this is the weather for shorter clothes not layers!!
