Boden Sale, what are you keeping and what are you sending back?

Keeping - Mauve boyfriend cardigan, I like it. Its not a boyfriend length on me but it does cover my arse!!! Spotty cropped favourite cardigan in navy, I always like their cropped cardis and this one looks better than I thought it would. Patent buckle belt well, I would never have paid full price for it but it was cheap and will be handy.

Going back - Lilac/pink washed lined blazer, absolutely horrific, do not buy!! The colour is neither here nor there and the shape is like a square box. Its just wrong!!! Summer scarfs both the patterned and plain, people actually pay £40/50 for these flimsy bits of nothing?? the colours are gaudy too. River Island does much nicer ones for a third of the price.

Thats my sale buying. Now for the post office......

i have sent back the summer breeze scarf, it is v sheer and i was hoping for something to wear instead of cardie. i have kept the carnaby wallet in pewter, never worth £49 but great for £19

i have had enormous wear from stripy scarf. do all get the pink one.

kittya · 09/07/2010 19:45

I got the pink flowered on and it is far too summery, looks like something you would only wear on holiday. On your waist. For me the scarfs are not good value at all. Even in the sale.

Keeping everything - First time I bought clothes for myself. Pleased that I am a Boden size 6.

GeorginaWorsley · 09/07/2010 20:27

morag had to send it back,it didn't fit my shape very well

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 09/07/2010 20:52

The pink must have shift makes me look 5 months pregnant It would look soo much better with a thick cream belt.

kittya · 09/07/2010 21:12

why do they only do thin belts?

OP posts:
belledechocolatefluffybunny · 09/07/2010 21:31

I don't know. It needs a thick one. I'm not surprised they were cheap.

Northernlurker · 09/07/2010 21:33

I'm keeping my stuff but it was only for the dds - funky print dress for dd3, skirt for dd2 and top for dd1. all nice and good value at the sale price.

MaeMobley · 09/07/2010 22:41

Keeping Merino tunic.

Sent back purple sumptious leather bag. It was not a nice shade of purple.

Returned the relaxed cardigan -not a nice shade of blue.

kittya · 10/07/2010 13:30

I bought the t shirt dress from the Johnnie B range for my nine year old niece. I bought a xs as I wasnt sure of the sizes. It fits her 5 year old, not even tall, sister!! how can a five year old be a teen??? this is going to put me off buying anything from there in the future if the sizes are all over the place

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 10/07/2010 14:11

Kittya - I bought dd1 a dress from johnnie b early in the season as we were going to a wedding. She is 12 and smaller than most of her friends. I checked the measurements on the site and was pretty shocked that we would need a s rather than xs. Something is up with that range - either they're aiming at kids younger than they say or they've got a big sizing problem! S fitted dd1 fine but would be too short and tight for most of her friends.

kittya · 10/07/2010 15:10

If you look at the size charts and compare them to the sizes of the normal range a Johnnie B medium is aged ten in the Mini range!! Im annoyed because I bought that dress especially for the nine year old, the five year old seems to end up with everything!!!! they really have cocked it up.

Sending back merino tunic - described as periwinkle blue, but actually a pretty full on purple which does not suit me at all. Buggar - really wanted it.

purplepeony · 10/07/2010 18:12

I don't agree that the merino tunic in periwinkle is purple- I love the colour and it's def. not purple. Cobalt blue springs to mind.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 10/07/2010 18:39

Have we got the same tunic? It's deffo purple - I even asked the DCs and DH for confirmation because I so wanted it to be blue. Purple and I really don't go together

kittya · 10/07/2010 18:42

Ha, I think we are all going Boden colour-blind!! I didnt think the mauve stripey bf cardi was wishwashy but pp sent hers back because it was. Surely the colours cant vary like that?

OP posts:
Maisiethemorningsidecat · 10/07/2010 18:49

This is what I ordered - a lovely bluey colour, and instead I got a bright purple, as confirmed by DH/DCs! Do you think individual items can vary in shade?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 10/07/2010 18:50

Buggar - does that link to the lime? If so, click on the periwinkle and tell me if you think it looks blue or purple!

petalpower · 10/07/2010 20:20

I have kept the straightleg jeans (as recommended by MN!), the merino cardigan in periwinkle, the printed cotton top, chic beaded top, periwinkle camisole, johnnie b pink ballet pumps, crinkle jersey shirt, and maxi jersey dress. Sending back the flowerburst tunic which was an odd shape on me. Oh dear - it sounds rather a lot in a list like that! It didn't seem so much when it arrived in three separate parcels!

pirateparty · 10/07/2010 21:59

Maisie - It looks purple to me

Kittya - thanks re necklaces - you have confirmed my suspicions.

kittya · 11/07/2010 09:46

Anytime!! the straight leg jeans are worth buying, they have loads of sizes left.

Is anyone still waiting for an order to be delivered? I placed 2 orders on the 1st dy of sale, have received one but not the other, had email when stuff was dispatched & money has been taken from my card. Boden are not being spectacularly helpful over it.
Also, their offices are closed today, does that mean they're getting ready for further reductions tomorrow?

kittya · 15/07/2010 15:15

I dont think so, arent they all at the annual Boden garden party? I wonder if the dress code is Boden only??!!!

OP posts:
Oumasrusks · 15/07/2010 16:45

I also thought the same about the Boden garden party dress code Kittya

I managed to get the must have shopper in copper, fuschia and purple over the weekend and they were delivered today. Wow, they are gorgeous! I meant to keep one and send two back but I can't choose between them so I'm keeping all three. I think £39 is an outstanding price for these bags.
