Boden Sale, what are you keeping and what are you sending back?

Keeping - Mauve boyfriend cardigan, I like it. Its not a boyfriend length on me but it does cover my arse!!! Spotty cropped favourite cardigan in navy, I always like their cropped cardis and this one looks better than I thought it would. Patent buckle belt well, I would never have paid full price for it but it was cheap and will be handy.

Going back - Lilac/pink washed lined blazer, absolutely horrific, do not buy!! The colour is neither here nor there and the shape is like a square box. Its just wrong!!! Summer scarfs both the patterned and plain, people actually pay £40/50 for these flimsy bits of nothing?? the colours are gaudy too. River Island does much nicer ones for a third of the price.

Thats my sale buying. Now for the post office......

I have to resurrect this thread as I have only just got my 3 boxes of Boden stuff today. I didn't order when the sale originally went live because I missed the corsage sandals that I had wanted all season. When a pair in my size and colour (bizarrely called sea lion) were returned I snapped them up together with a few other things.

I love the corsage sandals - they are even nicer in real life than on the site. I also got the fab sandals in raspberry - they are nice but can't justify two pairs so going back.

I'm also returning Johnnie B striped hoodie as the arms look bizarrely long
boys printed jersey plimsolls (can't imagine what possessed me to order these for 13yr old DS)
colourblock bracelet (chipped and scratched as well as not very nice)
straightleg summer capris (my legs are not straight, so they are v snug on thighs and with acres of extra material flapping round shins)
girls boho necklace and bracelet (just junk)

keeping boys slim fit jeans (have 4 pairs here 2 johnnie b and 2 mini boden so need a trying on session with DS2 to decide which exactly to keep)
one or maybe two of halterneck bikini, hotch potch swimsuit and tankini for DD

Also totally torn over pewter statement satchel and patent stripe tote. Can only really justify keeping one and expected to like the tote more but am veering towards the satchel now. The tote has a really dodgy wrinkled bit on the leather - not sure if it would settle down or not.

I was hoping for further reductions this weekend - tote has never been out of stock so might go down again - anyone any idea when they might happen?

Millie1 · 17/07/2010 22:16

Aaargh ... have just discovered no free returns label with Boden sale stuff . I guess postage is going to cost a small fortune as it's one of the big boxes. So, wise Mumsnetters, is there any way of getting a returns label from Boden? One can live in hope!

mysteryfairy · 17/07/2010 22:17

Millie - I usually save them from orders thru the year - have you got any left hanging around?

Millie1 · 17/07/2010 22:56

Nooo .. I just threw some out a week or two ago. Hmmm. Lesson learned for next time.

Oumasrusks · 18/07/2010 08:01

Mysteryfairy - the stuff on the USA site has just been reduced, so I'm hoping it will happen to ours this week. I'm also waiting to see whether the tote will be reduced further as I like the look of it. Oh, and I've also got that pewter satchel and love it!

Millie - That's a pain re the labels.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 18/07/2010 08:49

I'm keeping fuschia pink silk dress for dd, multicoloured striped shirt for dh and khaki mini for me and khaki shorts for ds and sending back purple woollen dress as looked like a sack on me.

kittya · 18/07/2010 09:40

The white cotton dress from the JohnnieB range is a huge hit, the small fits an average 9 year old like a dream.

mysteryfairy · 18/07/2010 09:43

Oumasrusks - it looks like the tote did go down again as it USD68 now (from USD228). I think that would make it £40ish in UK money. Looks like I'm going to be constantly refeshing all week! The statement satchel also went down to USD 69 but looks like it would be a bit risky to send it back as its sold out and just the odd return on the site.

kittya · 19/07/2010 14:17

so, when will we get the reductions? will they email us?

OP posts:
wools · 19/07/2010 14:27

Kittya - There are further reductions at Boden now.

kittya · 19/07/2010 14:58

Just ordered the ruffle flip flops in magenta
and the Bow Mocassins in Silver. Have also ordered the Straight leg jeans in China Blue and Vintage denim. I expect they will all be returned.

tulpe · 19/07/2010 17:44

I just placed an order too. Have been trying to resist but at £19 for the straightleg jeans in indigo, it would have been rude not too . Am very confused as they are definitely in the A/W preview range. I bought them last year at full price and found the fit fantastic. Have gone for longer length this time, to wear with heels.

Also ordered the striped breton jumper in purple and marl (bargainous £13 - am hoping it will layer up nicely with long sleeve tees for autumn brightness). Oh and the blue & white striped tunic dress from the Johnnie B range, which I think will look fab with leggings or skinny jeans (fingers crossed).

I like their shoes but I have huge wide penguin flippers for feet so unlikely to fit into their delicate offerings.

kittya · 19/07/2010 18:34

the straight jeans are the best bargain of all. Im abit disappointed by the reductions in the shoes, I wont bother because their sizes are always too skinny.

Belle03 · 19/07/2010 18:38

Hooray! my final parcel has arrived!
Am keeping straight leg jeans, silver snake pumps, merino tunic & couple of long sleeved tops. Not sure about the purple bow shoes with high heels, still thinking.

vintage · 19/07/2010 21:30

dare i ask if any one has the checked short trnchcoat? ive ordered it in a 12 well i thought i could wear it around Edinburgh the tourists love a bit of tartan

moragbellingham · 19/07/2010 22:27

I thought about that one! Still thinking.....

aarghhelp · 20/07/2010 09:26

thank you all very much for the heads up, I placed an order in the middle of the night. (including for the straight lg jeans)

tulpe · 20/07/2010 09:28

Saw another mum at school gates wearing the Bijou Cropped Cardi in the royal blue (or whatever Boden call that particular shade!) Tis gorgeous so have just ordered for myself. £29 down from £59. Will look great with jeans and heels or even layered over tees with converse in the autumn.

aarghhelp · 20/07/2010 09:36

I tried that one (the bijou cardie) in turquoise but it came with the huge beady doodahs hanging off on a thread, so I suspect it is a delicate beast with possibly a short life. Also, I didn't find the cut very flattering, baggy towards my waist.

Northernlurker · 21/07/2010 21:56

My satchel arrived today and I love, love, love it! It's so beautiful
Also got cropped trousers for both bigs dds and they look great too - am v happy

tulpe · 21/07/2010 23:10

keeping all the items which arrived today

Indigo straight leg jeans look fab (altho can't try them on yet as tummy still swollen from tummy tuck).

The knitted boatneck in Violet isn't as fitted as I had hoped. However, I wanted to wear during A/W so actually will work well layered.

Embroidered shirt dress from Johnnie B range is gorgeous and definitely a keeper. Will be worn with leggings, bare legs, over skinny jeans, layered with vest tops/long sleeve tees. I will definitely get my money's worth Just have to hope nobody recognises it as being from Boden's teen range as may be a bit embarrassing considering I am 39! Although I had plenty of compliments when I wore the watermelon skinnies from there

toucancancan · 21/07/2010 23:36

Tulpe I'm looking at the blue Johnnie B shirt dress. I'm a size ten ladies, do you think the Large Johnnie B will fit me?

toucancancan · 21/07/2010 23:37

Sorry mean to say, if i order a large size in Johnnie B, does that equate to about a size 10 ladies?
